If they were successful, then there would be a really amazing dinosaur theme park. But you know some people would wander into pens or restricted areas and die. Or something would try to escape. It's just an unfortunate event that happens at all zoos.

My biggest concern at the end of Fallen Kingdom was the compys getting loose (yes, more so than Rexy running around) so I think they would be the biggest liability. They would get out and create havoc. That first scene we get of them in the book has forever scared me.

Just imagine Compys taking on every park, sever, hunting for smaller, and bigger prey in large groups. It would cause both ecoligic disaster and wreck havock among literally every person living in regions of the world with warm climate, taking over almost all continents. Gosh!

First off, I enjoy all your videos on the JP canon. So, my thoughts on what would have happened at JP San Diego? Disaster a lot sooner than 10 years. These are creatures in which little to no knowledge is available on their care and behavior. They were captured on a island that was an incubator for the failed Jurassic Park. The team to care for them had left long ago, as well as the team to learn from them. Alan Grant was completely uninvolved, and the Paleontologist that was there (for argument sake I will assume he went uneaten in the waterfall cave) seemed to be more the giddy kid with his toys then the serious studious Grant. This serious lack of background and knowledge - under the direction of Ludlow - lends itself to disaster sooner than later. Ludlow would have rushed everything for the sake of a dollar, taking short cuts along the way, short cuts that would literally come back to bite him in more the backside! I would give escape and chaos about 6 months with good luck, 6 weeks without it. Just my opinion.

Of all the creatures the hunters caught, the most problematic right away, in my opinion, would've been the Pachycephalosaurus because of their tendency to ram into things with their thick heads (just ask that one guy who got sent flying through his car during the roundup scene), Stegosaurus because of their spiked tails, Triceratops because of their horned heads, and Compsognathus because of their small size and carnivorous behavior. The baby T-Rex would eventually become a problem once it gets bigger, and the Parasaurolophus and Gallimimus, while probably not as troublesome as the others, could still be quite the hassle to deal with one way or another.

  • @jhoss0743

Jurassic Park San Diego would also fail big time. the theatre space looks cramped. Assuming Ludlow didn't release the dinosaurs at once, most would be stuck in cages most of the day. If the dinosaurs didn't break out due to limited space, animal rights activists would take action, possibly a repeat of the hunter camp sabotage.

I hadn't really ever considered this what if, but, now that you've given me cause to do so, I agree with you that something would inevitably go wrong at some point--and as you pointed out, much more quickly and easily than with Jurassic World because the World was established over years of research whereas Ludlow's would have been set up under less studied conditions. I'm not sure how much damage would necessarily occur or if the herbivores would simply avoid human populations if they got out, but if it were the younger Rex after he'd grown, that would be a legal nightmare.

If they had been successful, then Jurassic Park San Diego would have been a hit, and that InGen would not only bring the animals to the Mainland, but also recoup the company's assets, as well as finding a sanctuary to leave the creatures in peace, as long as they don't sell them as weapons.

Well, first off, no one would have been killed on Isla Sorna, I feel as though the park would have worked on the mainland... but just as in Jurassic world, visitors would start to get bored with what they had, leading to them going back to the island to get predatory dinosaurs in addition to the herbivores they captured previously, then some years down the line, same thing, and we get an Indominus monster being made.
... I still find it hard to believe people would get tired of seeing dinosaurs as quickly as Jurassic World suggests

I could imagine the Ingen hunters gathering more dinosaur genre after Jurassic Park San Diego became a hit, especially regarding any sauropods. The only concern I'd have, as a mentioned in a previous video, is the amount of space the dinosaurs would have to roam around. Maybe if JP:SD became successful, they'd make more room for the animals to explore so they won't get stressed and possibly escape.

4:57 Another factor to why Jurassic World would've inevitably fell was Mt. Sibo.
Even if they never created the Indominus Rex, the volcano would eventually become active.

its my opinion that if Ludlow hade managed to open the San Diego park it be a disaster. Human arrogance is a running theme in these movies, how we assume control over these powerfull animals. If he opened the park the dinosaurs would get loose and there not be a single T.rex causing havoc but a stampede of them.

I feel they would have problems with the larger animals. Looking at photos and models of the amphitheater. Its painfully obvious that the paddocks are to small for the giant bodied and giant herd animals. While there would be no problems at first. As the animals instinct to migrate and forage kicked in. The stegosaurus and triceratops would start to become easily agitated and aggressive. Add the fact that the Rex would need a paddock all to itself and you cut your living space for these large animals.
Another problem is going to be illness. Being in a metropolitan area. The animals would be subjected to modern pollutants that they are not adapted for. They would be rife with illnesses and require constant medical treatment. You could supplant this with rotating the stock with the dinosaurs on the islands. But then you run the risk outbreak and then you have DX virus situation.
The last major problem I see would be with the geological profile of California itself, specifically earthquakes. One good shake and you lose the power grid or a fence pylon falls over. Next thing you know is a 7 ton carnivore loose downtown. Or worse compys on the lose and breeding like sewer rats with a population explosion.
    Just a thought

And into a WHAT IF??? Well then~~ and such an interesting subject matter to boot! I like~
Also in terms of what would happen to this enclosure, I'm sure that the animals would get aggressive or sick often given just how big they are. The place looks WAY to small to adequately fulfill needs of space for these animals, to the point that animal activists would riot after a time.
So unless expansion was in plan, the park is doomed to fail because these men "are not reminded of how very small they are."

The basic problem of JP remains the same, whether it's on Hammond's island near Costa Rica or a zoo in San Diego. "Life finds a way." Or as the novel's first page puts it, "You cannot recall a new form of life." It's inevitable that newly-created animals will eventually escape their quarantine and mix with the rest of nature.

I actually think it would go wrong quite quickly for 2 reasons. 1) they hardly knew anything about the animals (whole reason rex got is they gave it too much sedative and then too much adrenaline) Any random mess up could easily happen with the other dinos 2) it's mentioned that the San Diego exhibit was already almost completed by Hammond b4 shifting to Nublar. If the Nublar resort had so many issues, who is to say San Diego didn't (plus Ludlow was in a hurry to get it finished asap)

with all you said that woud actually happen.. but the question is would Malcolm, Sarah and tlw cast return? or just Malcolm Sarah and Nick? i beleieve that in the alternitive look would come from the novels as a pararell thing, eventually captering the dinosaurs being sent back to isla sorna having Ludlow actually listen to Malcolm .. that would make Isla Sorna instead of Isla Nublar the main scene.. think about it.. for the 4th movie Alan Grant would venture to Isla Sorna much like in the 3rd movie and maybe discover they are dying or breeding a lot.. like in the old script back in 2009 i think it was? where Grant and Malcolm go to Isla Sorna to report it all the mysterious things and how the dinosaurs got into Costa Ric by witnesses followed by some deaths by velociraptors on the mainland.. so you would had either Owen Grady on the team as a InGen member who was studying raptor bahevior during the whole movie thing they are sucessfully able to tranquilize the raptors in the jungles of Costa Rica; while team 2 is in sorna and they report to Owen the whole thing while yes ofcourse people had died in their team leaving Grant, Malcolm, Sarah and maybe a other InGen member survive making way for Jurassic world as the 4th leading to the 5th where Owen is the main character except this movie would still be called jurassic park or still be called jurassic world samething storyline but very different in a way, and kinda like in the 1st movie people evacuate because the volcano seems to be making signs of explosian the workers stay behind to sedate dinosaurs transport them to the mainland so you gotta like a real interesting story there ( would not be a fast paced movie)
they would been held back if at all the hybred dino would been a thing but i doubt it would have been but maybe it would been so.. you would see the whole thing of hybred vs. human much like the battle between owen and raptor hybred but its on the island Owen on the helicopter place surrounded by lava and he notices the mosasaur so he gets lucky by knowing what he is doing yet again since i-rex had a sibling he most likely fight eachother having owen escape and having blue and her siblings fight them too so Owen, Clair and other 2 escape same way as they die or 1 of them live so she won't be alone..
mosasaur chomps the last hybred giant helicopter comes in as Blue and other one if at all alive sedate her to get her off the island but by the boat as they transport her making way to the 6th movie we will all see

I think that Jurassic Park San Diego would actually work out rather well. I believe the problem with the Nublar facility was that Hammond wanted it to be somewhat natural for the animals. The San Diego facility was set up more like a zoo. It looks like all the paddocks were recessed into the ground all the way around. Unlike Nublar where the animals and people were on the same level.

It would be a good start for them, But in the long run errors are known to show and come's; That too if each of the holding pins that houses them are secured with heavy duty doors and locks, then the rate of them getting out are slim. The other trouble I see is that we as humans cant control them since they be going off natural nature like they did when they were around 65 Million years ago, and they will start to cause problems. Its always a Best Idea to A large mounts of security to help watch and be sure trouble and problems don't happen if they were successful.

I agree, the worst problem would be the compies. I guess they could be eradicated by using trained dogs or something, though.
I don't think the T-Rex was meant to be a part of the display... we should think what would have happened if Hammond's team had never made it to the island. Or better yet, if Nick van Owen had been the one eaten alive by the compies...

I think there woud've been a problem eventually like in Jurassic Park and Ian Malcolm would now have 'campfire stories' to which Peter Ludlow would be a witness.

My biggest problem with JP San Diego is that it just doesn't look like it is large enough to house the dinosaurs that they were bringing in. Even with all the extra paddocks around the amphitheater shown in the models and concept art, it feels like the enclosures are just too small for them.

I don't know if you're going to do another what if video but I have a interesting idea.
What if dr. Henry Wu created the indominus Rex during the first Jurassic Park? I know it's stupid but I think it would be interesting.

Have to point something out, it’s on the main land, aka no way the government isn’t going to have some response task force to take control of the park security failed, utilizing high caliber weapons, high strength tranq darts, armored vehicles, and definitely training on how to react depending on the dinosaur, one good thing that park was going to have or more like not have, is raptors, think of it yes a T. rex is huge and definitely a threat, but a threat you physically can hind from easily like going in a building, so if that escapes just don’t be in the open, raptors however are a whole different story, go in a building, it can follow due to being small enough, plus harder to spot due to being stealthy, smart, and smaller, now with that does come disadvantages, being smaller they’re weaker and at least you can kinda sorta do something, and not as high caliber of a weapon is needed to deal with them, so I think if they kept the park to the animals discussed, yeah I think the park will run fine for years, a lot of factors play into why it would, better and more available resources, more security, more and better protocol, and the fact that even if weather went extreme they would have better prep to move the dinosaurs and do more to prevent something bad, heck I honestly think, especially without raptors, their would be little to no incidents past even the events of the 3rd film which in these events, with Peter alive to run Ingen and a fully running park that likely won’t have many issues, probably things like the Spinosaurus wouldn’t have been made which in turn likely means Jurassic world probably wouldn’t happen unless Peter decided to do it since with a fully running park he’d be able to amount resources to build another which he’d likely do, so literally could’ve resulted in genuine safe dinosaur parks in multiple areas with very few incidents altogether that would be in operation past possibly even current canon timeline

I've had an idea for a fanfiction for some time about this idea. The idea is that the park is successful and under control but they can't breed dinos in the United States due to some law. InGen is basically kicked out of Costa Rica, so they go where they already have property: Kenya, as mentioned by Hammond in the first movie. So InGen makes dinos in Kenya, but they get out, and a parasaurolophus ends up on Roland's ranch somehow. Roland calls Ludlow and says "Elvis is in my back yard. Are you going to fix this or do I have to?". The dinos cause a large amount of damage to the savanna ecosystem, food competition with the natural animal population and such. The story ends up with Roland teaming up with Gerry and Sarah Harding and Van Owen to round up the dinos and convince the Kenyan government to kick InGen out.

I think they should bring Dodgson back in the last movie. He does have an opening if they made it where he was at the auction. He could be the main villain in the third Jurassic World Series.

Hey Klayton, why do you think that Ludlow planned to include only herbivores (apart from the Compys) in San Diego? The maps I've seen include a pen for a T-Rex.
    jurassic-pedia.com/jurassic-park-san-diego-map/
    jurassicpark.fandom.com/wiki/Jurassic_Park:_San_Diego
The dinosaur list in the wiki also includes Brachiosaurus which I think Ludlow didn't plan to bring back (shouldn't they have been killed because they were economically unpopular?), so that list seems to refer to Hammond's original plans. The map beside it, however, does not include any sauropods and seems to refer to Ludlow's plans.
I neither see any film evidence for the Rex being a part of the plan nor any evidence against it. But he seemed to be a greedy and ruthless guy and I think he would have used it as an argument for the safety of the San Diego park if it was planned to include only herbivores apart from the Compys. Aside from that, there's Roland Tembo's line when he requests to hunt "one of the tyrannosaurs, a male, a buck ONLY" - could this be a hint to Ludlow wanting to keep one alive for the park in San Diego?
Thank you so much for your awesome content, I really enjoy it!

2:49 How could the dinosaurs escape from the coliseum? it's made of stone and the outside paddocks have steel bars and are down low like in real zoos I think this park is the safest one I really couldn't see anything escaping there

This park and Jurassic worlds big issue was management all mainly caring about what will bring the most income while ignoring the negatives it has on the animals
