    I wonder how many private rocket scientists there are who absolutely need 4 or 5 decimal places? This may be important in your professional life. Anyone who has the money can certainly afford to buy accuracy privately. But you shouldn't forget, what use are the best devices if they can't be calibrated regularly? But thanks anyway to Tony for his time to present the devices to us.

    When I retired from my electronics career 5 years ago I equipped my new test bench with all Siglent test instruments including scope, specA, 6.5 digit multimeter, power supply and sig gen. All equipment has been 100% and still in calibration. Very pleased with the quality versus price (and I tend to stay away from Chinese products), great products!

    Metrologist here, I've calibrated a few of these. They are really capable meters and generally perform well. However, Siglent refuses to share calibration adjustment information with anyone, including professional calibration labs. I've seen a few of these require adjustment within the first few years of ownership, and I think it's just bad business practice to intentionally withhold information that other manufacturers (Keysight/Keithley, Fluke, even BK Precision) would have no problem sharing. I hope they change their minds someday.

    Hello Tony and Followers:
    The multimeters that samples are of good quality, and not long ago I need to buy one of this size and 6 and ½ digits, look at the keysight 3410a, it is pretty good, but its price is not very affordable, also look at the Siglent, of 6 ½ digits is not cheap either and of course it is not at HP / Agilent / Keysight. So opt for an agilent 34401a almost new with the original, newly calibrated tips, are found by prices from € 400 more or less and is a multimeter with very interesting options including an entrance impedance of more than 10 Gohm. The Siglent SDM3065 is a multimeter that is fine, but I do not think it is at the level of Agilent 34401a.
    Good video sir.
    Best regards.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Manuel! yes agree, but buying both new, the Siglent is half price and for what i have seen here in practice it is not bad at all, i can say it is good and well worth its price.

    Hi Tony, thanks again for yet another interesting video. I am a bit suspicious how it is possible that the pc software displays not the exact same value as the meter it self. You can see that very clearly from 32:00 on. For example between 32.05 and 32:09 the pc shows 10.0005, but the meter display shows 10.0004. Not that i think that 100uA makes all the difference, but still it is quite odd why the displayed values differ for such a “long” time (~4s in this example). Any thoughts?

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!, to be honest i did not spend much time investigating the software, maybe 5 mins. maybe some defaults are not good and i did not changes them
      About that value, could be that the scan speed is different on the software then the meter maybe and on the meter it avarages out.

  • @tonycstech
    @tonycstech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In comparison to ANY handheld, this multimeter shows EXACTLY HALF the resistance value measured in circuit.
    Why is that ?

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      mainly the circuit it is in... i would think, in-circuit testing is always tricky

  • @EwaldBurger
    @EwaldBurger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The trending on the pc software seems quite disappointing to me (33:00 onward). Why have a 5.5 or even have a 6.5 digit meter and then displaying no decimal digits at all on the charts (vertical on time chart and horizontal on histogram) on the pc software. These meters/software are on the market for several years now. Disappointing this has not been solved yet… I am in for one if these meters (most likely the sdm3055) but these kind of seemingly long time unsolved things hold me back.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it is a silly default, i did spend 5 mins only to check the software. i am looking for a 6.5 myself than i will play with it more. Stay tuned.

      @EwaldBurger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TonyAlbus Hi, looking forward to that review. 6.5 digits is nice, but the price difference between 5.5 and 6.5 is quite big and i don’t think i’ll need 6.5 resolution.

      You should test the 2 wire and 4 wire resistance measurements using a sub ohm resistor.
      To really push it you can "try" a standard Current Shunt, 10 Amp, 75 millivolt, 5% (75/10=7.5 milliohm)
      More realistic results might be obtained with 0.5 or 0.25 ohm resistors.
      Validate using a known current and the voltage drop across the resistor.
