- Here's another ABBA-video, this time the song is The Piper from Super Trouper album (wich is my favourite ABBA-album!), the B-side of the single "Super Trouper". I like this song a lot! It is great, because the melody is great and it's so mythical........... So awesome!

This song and the music always make me think about castles of Europe with Kings and Queens and Knights of the middle age.
I got exactly the same impression...
When I heard this song on the radio first time back in 1980 I went straight to the record shop the following day and bought the Super Trouper album. Good memories.....

I listened to the radio a lot back in the early 70s. I remember hearing Fernando, SOS, etc, and thinking, "Man, that ABBA sure has a different sound than all the others!"

I thought ABBA in this song was influenced with Renaissance classical period music. Great composition, superb vocally and instrumentally performance. Talented like ABBA don’t come very often

This is now my favourite song. It's so good and sweet for my ears. And I have known it for nearly 2 weeks now because I decided to just download all the ABBA songs on my tablet and I thought I had heaps having over 50 but I've found heaps more new ones now that are even better. Totally agree Rachy. Many of the ABBA songs were/are classics, even ones that didn't seem to make it into the charts in many countries. My parents played ABBA top to bottom and back to front most weekends when I was younger. Pretty angry though I missed out on the concert tour here in Australia, but glad to have been old/young enough to hear and see them on TV when I did.

Mezzo's in the classical world can sing a sopranos role. The mezzo-soprano when singing a soprano part has a warmer tone.
Frida also, is blessed as she can sing alto as well. She has a huge range.
Frida middle voice is lower than Agnetha's.
During ABBA's high unison big chorus songs both girls are in the same pitch (unison), but Frida has the larger distant to cover. When she does she get there she has a unique sparkling edge. Bjorn talks about this in one of his print interviews.
You here this edge in her rock oriented songs (1982, Phil Collins & Frida album) or Bowie cover 'Life on Mars' (75).
Frida has a performance top range of Eb6, which is 3 semi-tones above high C (C6). In one song in 1967 on LIVE national TV she covers 3 octaves in one song. It is impressive. Eb3-Eb6. It's on TH-cam. It was the day she won National Best Vocalist talent hunt.
She has many songs were she is well below Eb3.

Gee, I don't know which I like better - Agnetha's fantastic pose at 35 or Frida with her long neck and dreamy look at 1:00. Both are just gorgeous, and thankfully I don't have to decide:) I'm just glad that there existed this fabulous group for me to enjoy.
In 2020 the piper is back to play the COVID tune to our children.
Politically savvy, especially today...lovely tune, interpret as we will...face value or otherwise...abba was poetic, frequently joyful, always entertaining...some songs brilliant and all 4 so talented..ladies were and still are beautiful with voices of angels...bjorn and bennie musical geniuses...scratch the surface...remarkable band, never will be rivalled or exceeded..thank you for the music...50 years running, you are all still loved❤❤

Takes me back to my childhood. At first I thought this was Mike Oldfield but found it today as ABBA. As a kid I loved castles, knights, myths etc and this tune had that vibe together with To France by Mike Oldfield.

The Inter House Choir Competition 2012, Bishops' Co-ed School, Kalyaninagar, Pune. Freese house sang this song in the choir competition, finishing in second position behind Cooper house, which had sung Iko-Iko.
In the solo category, Parth of Freese house got the first prize, singing Uptown Girl by Billy Joel.

You misheard lyrics like I did many times. I remember it happened with Dancing Queen: Instead of "You can dance, you can jive" I used to understand: Children dance, children die. Also with One Of Us. Instead of "One of us" I used to understand: On a bus. LOL!!! There are some more but I can't remember now.

Ive searched for occult symbolism in abba's music because of their mirror palindrome initials logo, and pyramid album covers. This song is the best I could come up with. Following a"piper", dancing beneath the moon. I know..kinda weak. By the way -sub luna saltamus- means literally "beneath the moon we dance". So, nothing scandalous there.
