Ground Breaking for the San Francisco Vedanta Temple Addition

The San Francisco addition groundbreaking ceremony was on September 12, 1993, and was part the our year-long celebration of the observance of the centenary of Swami Vivekananda's visit to the U.S. to participate in the Parliament of Religions. Swami Gahanananda, vice-president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, inaugurated the celebration. This video was taken in the previous temple garden. After brief offerings of flowers and incense, Swami Gahanananda is shown in this video preparing the concrete cylinder in which some sacred momentos were placed. Swami Prabuddhananda assisted him and also read the list of contents to be placed within the cyclinder. After the swamis sealed the cylinder with sand and concrete, it was later placed within the foundation of the addition.
