    I truly believe what you're doing is very useful for nonnative English speakers. Way to go!

    Thank you so much to both of you! I've subscribed to Evelyn's channel, firstly cause she's Canadian (love Canada) but also because she has the same approach as you do to English learning process. It's not a big show of "look at me, how good I am" but you are trying to actually get down to the learner's level and motivate them to use critical thinking

    I'm glad native speakers are doing these kind of videos, scammers need to be kept in check.

    Making mistakes in learning English is like falling off a bicycle while learning how to ride it. This is true for those learning English, and we have to accept the way it is because it's natural. However, when you teach English, especially to millions of learners, you should provide them with the correct things. It's also important to note that "native" mistakes are different from "non-native" mistakes.

    It is really funny when non native speakers who want to sound advanced use sophisticated words that no-one uses just to sound more intelligent, even if the words don't fit in there and it all sounds awkward.

    When you said "phantom" instead of "fathom" on Evelyn's video, was that one of your intentional mistakes?

    • @davesenglish
      @davesenglish  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is correct. However, honestly, this is a BIG problem (I will admit) with people from Chicago (like myself). We tend to pronounce the "th" with a "d". Therefore, people from Chicago are more likely to day "dis" instead of "this", or "dat" instead of "that". Instead of "thanks", we say "danks". And people make fun of us about this all the time! Hence the famous "Da Bears" skit from SNL.
      I try to not like me Chicago accent come out, but it's really hard to check. This might be a good video topic.

      @@davesenglish Thank you for you reply, if you do a video about this, I hope you touch on the th sound as in "think" It seems to me that a lot of young Americans pronounce it as some sort of T sound. I heard Mr Beast on a podcast say something like "I tink" (or maybe is a D?)

    Talk more about POC English but please stop talking about Linguamarina. Linguamarina has so much more subscribers than POC English. Therefore, more videos should be made about POC English.

  • @d.c.v.6

    Reducing your accent isn't so important, a more important thing is to pronounce words correctly.

    • @EDP2500
      @EDP2500 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the case when it comes to YOU speaking, but in terms of YOU listening, you need to master how words are reduced and connected in order for you to understand what native speakers are saying.

    I think the majority of Dave’s audience is above B2 level and when you at B2 you learn English from native English speakers, not from Mogilko or Poc, it’s common sense. So, essentially Dave is beating a dead horse here and his critique has zero value.
