I actually had dinner with Edwin one day (completely unexpected) in Georgia before his concert maybe 10 years ago, awesome person and singer/songwriter.
Ok so Michael McDonald is an iconic singer and obviously highly experienced, BUT, here, he can’t carry a tune in a bucket. He nails his harmony maybe twice out if the maybe thirty times they repeated the title. It’s almost like he was trying to influence Edwin to bend to his will of key. We call that a one trick pony. Just an odd type of voice which became very well known, and definitely an incredible songwriter, but he can’t sing.
