Downs effects people in many ways, and one is an almost perpetually happy demeanor, for their whole lives. I imagine if they could fully understand how often typical people are unhappy, anxious or depressed they would wonder why we call THEM “disabled”.

My husbands oldest cousin has Downs. She is SMART. You try to pull the wool over her eyes and you can’t. She is FUNNY. She cracks jokes all of the time. She is sarcastic and can “give it“ right back to you if you tease her. She has a job. She is always smiling except when someone dies, then she is a blubbering mess who is almost inconsolable. She loves to give hugs and receive hugs. She was told she wouldn’t live past 18. She is now 60!
Her name is Mary and we’d be lost without her.

When I was 8, my family went on vacation with another family. Their son, who was 16 at the time, has down syndrome. I remeber how funny he was. He was a really cool person. Ya, abit different, but in a good way!

i believe this. everyone i’ve met in my life who has down syndrome, even in passing, are super kind, smart, and funny people. they aren’t in my immediate circle so i don’t know them super well as people but they are a joy to be around whenever i do see them. 🤍

My late hubby and I adopted a newborn baby girl who has Downs Syndrome and serious heart problems when she was abandoned at the hospital. She is now 16 and such a blessing to me and our family. 💯❤💯 We Salute you Sir !!!

I loved this story. My beautiful son who was disabled passed this year. He was 43 years old. I don't exaggerate when I say that he was the most precious gift that I have ever had.

when i was 15yrs old, i tried committing suicide. i took 20 pills. i was so close to death. my whole body swelled up. i got bumps all over my body. my throat was startin to close up and i could barely even breathe. i knew i was seconds away from death. i was gasping for air. i got scared and regretted it right away. i wished ive never done it. for the first time in my life, i cried out to God and told him i dont wanna die. i jus need help. plz help me. plz help me. i wept. within seconds, i felt this warmth, love and peace surround me. i knew for a fact it was God. within seconds, he healed my whole body. i could breathe. swelling was gone. he instantly delivered me from suicidal thoughts and depression after strugglin with it for 6yrs. psychiatrists and psychologists and takin their medicine never helped. the only thing that WORKED was when i cried out to God and asked him for help. he instantly saved me and delivered me and performed miracles on me. he gave me a new outlook on life. for once in my life i actually wanted to live and not die. that was something odd for me cuz for 6yrs i wanted to die so bad. my mom had cancer and shes the reason why i tried taking my life cuz i didnt wanna lose her. i lost her at 16yrs old and lost my dad at 17yrs old. i didnt kno Jesus until i was 24 n a half yrs old. im 25 now n my relationship with Jesus is so strong. hes helped me change into a whole diff person. ppl actually see the miraculous change in me. if it wasnt for Jesus, id be dead right now. The only healer u need is Jesus. hes our healer. My younger brother has Down Syndrome, and I love him dearly. So this video brought me to tears. This man is a wonderful parent and I’m happy this young lady ended up with the best parent. Everyone deserves love.

This may be unnecessary but when I was in my mother’s womb, pregnant with me the doctors said I will be born with Down syndrome and they asked my mom and dad if they wanted to abort me or keep me, the doctor kept saying how it’ll be better to abort me but without hesitation they wanted to keep me, they said no matter how hard it is, this was planned and we’re keeping her, when I was born I wasn’t born with Down syndrome but hearing that makes me think that I might’ve not even be alive in this world if my parents ever decided to abort me, later on when I searched my hospital it was a abortion clinic, obv 17 years ago it was just a birth hospital, this brought me to tears too, and I agree everyone deserves love🥺

My daughter has Down Syndrome and she is the reason I've woken up everyday. When I cry she wipes my tears and tells me how perfect I am. @@corinth9119 I was working at the Arc and I remember my first day there training I didn’t know how to use the machines, or where anything was at, there was a guy who was Down syndrome started helping me and showing me how to work the computers etc... I always give him the credit of training me.

Our daughter has Rett Syndrome. I first met her when she was about 10 years old. My wife and I have been together over 20 years now and have had 3 more sisters for her. I have met quite a few people with Downs Syndrome and they have all been the happiest, most positive people in the world. We would run into one young man frequently while taking the bus. We always had a good conversation with him. Another older man worked at a grocery store we frequent. I can't imagine anyone who could turn their back on someone because they had Downs Syndrome. I think that the rest of us could learn a lesson from them.

Absolutely. I wish my son had a father like this instead. My son had developmental delays. His temperament & personality was more like mine & the guy who fathered him never wanted anything to do with us. He's the kind of person who believes everyone is a robot, calculating strategies in their heads to "get laid" and "pass on their genes", and that having genuine emotional connections with others is just part of the game/something we are all pretending & playing at. My brother is adopted and has Downs. He is precious and perfect. We love him so much. He was adopted at 4 years and now he is 40 years old! This man is incredible 👏 💜

I had a cousin named Nikki who had down syndrome and epilepsy. The doctors said she wouldn't live long. She passed away at 36. She was the most loveable and kind person ever. I miss her terribly. Tears are in my eyes as I'm typing. I ask everyone to appreciate life and your blessings because we are here today and gone tomorrow. I've battled depression for years and the fight is not easy. I ask that you all pray for me and love all people around you. We are connected has gods children.

I'm 45. At 18 I lost my dad to cancer. I had a brother that was murdered 2 weeks later...10 years ago my other brother died in his sleep and 5 years ago my best friend from my Navy days died... To cap it off my mother died 3 years ago after battling COPD... Life can be rough, but you gotta roll with the hand you're dealt.
People with Down syndrome don't live as long as people who don't have it, but they live on long after they are gone in our hearts. My uncle passed away about 4 years ago, aged 56. He made us smile and laugh at some of the things he did. We will cry when we think of them because they made an impact in our lives. They are special people.
