"I love it when a plan comes together" is my families motto! I love George Peppard and I love Mr. T so I am glad they hid any problems they had with each from the fans. I have not always gotten along with co-workers but that did not make me right and them wrong and the same goes for actors-people have issues with each other. They got the job done and they did splendidly! The A -Team was just a great, fun show that I never get tired of watching. I agree Dave, George Peppard reaching out to Mr. T was total class. I really miss George Peppard. We lost him way to soon.
Both Peppard and Mr. T were superb in the show. Tension between the two didn't surface in any episodes, so they were professional enough to do their job. No Serial Killer.
George Peppard gave a beautiful speech during Mr T’s dean martin roast - I mean it was absolutely touching. So I think they were more friends than enemies because no one is going to make a speech like that for nothing.
It was the next season after that roast that Don Rickles's jokes about "I'm not going to say George is jealous, but when you go to bed tonight, listen for a clock" became reality. They were still on great terms at the time of the roast. I mentioned that on the roast video about the two of them not getting along and was kinda surprised by the speech George gave myself knowing that. Someone explained it to me that it was a half a season later or something like that when things went sour.
About a decade ago, I heading out on vacation and I ran into Mr. T while waiting for my flight. He was handing out autographs and I got one. He was really nice and very friendly.
The A-Team was so cool. They always showed the bad guys were not hurt too much after maybe their car overturned or maybe at the end of a shootout. No casualties here. I loved the A-Team!
Right, no matter how bad the roll-over, the bad guys were always shown climbing out of their vehicle. I do recall one episode where HM Murdock was shot and the team had to find him medical help asap. That's the closest they ever got to someone being seriously injured.
@@lincbond442 I really like that episode ('Curtain Call'); it's something of a flashback/clip-show kind of feel, but done in a good way where the episode still has a story there.

My favorite part of the A-Team opening credits when Face (Dirk Benedict) by walker by a Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactica (on which the actor had played space pilot Starbuck) and did a double take. Another favorite scene of mine is when there's a frame of Mr. T actually smiling.
Stephen Cannell and Ruben Patterson did an excellent job casting the a team. I give them credit for going with George Peppard over James Coburn for the role of Hannibal. The switch to Dirk Benedict was also a smart move after the first episode.

Well that and the fact that her character was practically useless. She never really had anything to do which is why the actress wasn't exactly happy. Like all else, the media likes to play up these "feuds" and the dynamic between George and Mr. T was no exception. Yes, I'm aware of the tensions on set based on what I've read and heard since, but I thoroughly enjoyed The A-Team. Especially the hijinks between Murdock and B.A.
Yep. It's true. People do seem to enjoy hearing about "feuds" so the media AND other TH-cams (like myself) tend to offer them up on a silver platter. Still, I am glad that George and Mr. T were able to patch things up after the show ended.
@@timepoet77 I agree I'm glad that Mr Peppard & Mr T got along after the show went off the air I love George Peppard & some of his movies & series especially Banacek & the A-Team but I even loved Mr T because He was the real reason why the A-Team was worth watching after coming off sort of big with Rocky 3 a year earlier!
I heard about the feud years after the show ended. Maybe even after George died. I was surprised because as your presentation noted, none of that showed in the scenes they were in together. I guess that's why they call it acting.
I was a teenager in the 80s watching the A team show but NO. I didn’t know that George Peppard and Mr.T had some problems and or issues behind the camera and off the set between each other. But I’m glad to learn from this video they did made their peace ☮️ sometimes before Peppards passing.
I recently saw a rerun of the old Roast of Mr. T. Peppard was there too, and Mr. T graciously gave a speech saying that Peppard is the true star of the A-Team. Maybe it was just a public relations sham, but I'd like to believe they reconciled then.
I remember this show as a kid. It would come on Tuesday nights on NBC followed by Riptide and I believe Remington Steele. I do remember their feud. It was tabloid fodder at the time.
One of the later episodes it was blatantly obvious Mr. T was on set in a limited capacity because in his scenes the only castmate who appeared on camera with him was Dwight 'Murdock' Schultz.
I could easily go on about the show forever so I'll try and be brief. One of my favorite episodes was when ba and Murdock got stuck on an airplane, anyone that knows the show knows that ba does not like to fly, hilarious reaction from him, priceless! Also I thought the final season they really taken it up a notch when they started off with the A-Team having been caught oh, what a crazy three-part episode that was! Then the remainder of the season was them going out on suicide missions which were given to them by their " benefactor". I'm going to have to go watch the three-part episode right now!
Peppard probably didn't spend much time hanging w/Mr. T off the set. But surely he knew that his mohawked co-star was irreplaceable & essential to the show, regardless of their personal feelings for each other. Thanks for another great video, Dave.
George joined a roast of Mr. T, said nice things, they hugged. Peppard hated that Mr. T was doing pro wrestling and made sure people knew how he felt about it.
Hi Dave! It was a great show. The 70's and 80s will always be unequaled by today's programs. I remember when Mr. T won world's greatest bouncer contest on TV. Good day for sure, a kinder simpler time when standards and morals still existed.🍻
@Marty McFly II ... They were substantially inaccurate, too. The action figures have AR platform rifles while they were almost exclusively armed with the less scary Ruger Mini 14s. Of course Hannibal's choice was mostly the M60, wielded in hand and as safe for any bad guy as the Minis.
I didn’t know there was a feud between George Peppard and Mr. T. Interesting to hear what seems to have been the reason for this “feud” happening. Thanks for the video Dave, keep up the great work!
Initially, I didn't give the A Team a chance because Mr T played such an effective bad guy as Clubber Lang that 12 year old me wasn't going to watch a show where the star killed Mick in Rocky III. So, yeah 12 year old me was pretty loyal to Rocky. However, I did eventually come to the conclusion that it was just a movie and finally watched the show only for it to get cancelled soon thereafter. It was pretty cool. I'm more a sitcom guy but it was certainly entertaining. I always thought it had a good intro song along with Airwolf.
GREAT VIDEO DAVE!!! As always, thank you so much for these videos and keeping these memories alive. You rock man. As I’ve told you before in other comments…”you’re a class act bud.” I would be happy to call you a friend!
GP was notorious as being difficult and argumentative. There is a video of him here on YT arguing with the host of Password Plus in 1979 over the definition of a word. He also had been hired as Blake Carrington on ABC's Dynasty but was fired after shooting began due to his difficulty. This is well known by many people who have dealt with him.
I believe that there are historically more stars that are known as being difficult at times than being really easy to get along with. Peppard had been around and known a lot longer than his co-stars so he had a longer track record. I believe Mr T might have had a ego problem as well..
Whoo another great vlog love your channel btw I had a crush on George when I was a kid lol loved him in Breakfast at Tiffany's 🤗💞 also remember my brother and I having Mr T cereal and loved his cartoon 🤗😎
Shows true professionalism on both their parts that this was hidden from the public for so long. Just like Ed O'Neill and Amanda Bearse with their feud. Unlike the situations with John Ritter and Joyce Dewitt vs. Suzzanne Sommers and Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepard, the behind the scenes drama didn't derail the entire show.
Like the vidoe..... can you talk about them replace the person playing "FACE" during the show it was Dirk Benedict that played Starbuck. But on the movie it was someone else..
Personally I don't even remember that character. To me the show was all about the four A Team guys and nobody else, Though I'm sorry to hear about the actress getting booted that way.
I was never a fan of the show, though I was a Peppard fan from Banacek. One thing I noticed about Mr. T, whether it was a boxing movie, professional wrestling or The A-Team, he always played the same character, which was himself. That may by fun in small doses, but I can see how it would get old real quick in real life.
Copy that! I can picture George getting perturbed at having to do too many takes due to T causing errors. Anyone who's been in the production end of filming scenes is aware of the extremely long hours on set, doing numerous takes of a single scene because the director saw something amiss, or felt he or she needed to see the scene from different angles and lighting. It becomes dreadfully tiresome. And this is from someone who has barely been involved tangentially. Think about ego ridden actors all wanting to do scenes the way they think are best. Voilà! Feuds.
This was my favorite show when I was a kid I had the biggest crush on Murdock...lol ..it never showed not did the news or tabloids ever announced any feud.so I guess they were good actors after all ..
The formula was always the same: the A-Team would win round one against the bad guys. The bad guys would always fight back and win round 2. The A-Team would then end up locked up around lots of parts and tools. Then they would have just enough time to build some amazing contraption to fight back and win the final round. The icing on the cake was always Hannibal saying "I love it when a plan comes together". That pretty much sums up every A-Team episode ever made.
I always wondered about the "Face" character - what's the back story on him? How does a guy with everything going for him like that get into U.S. Army special operations? These guys know how to hunt wild prey with a pocket knife and dig up grubs for sustenance. I don't see a character like "Face" fitting in with that.
It's funny Mr. Dave, you hear about it all the time. The "perceived" star 🌟 gets mad 😠 when a "breakout" star arrives! With that attitude, you could call the show The ME-Team! I always liked George Peppard on Banacek, one of the NBC mystery movie rotation!📺🎥🎬🚨🚐🔫🇺🇸
George Peppard also objected to having Melinda Culea on the show, as he thought she somehow didn't fit into the show's story (or something like that) - Not criticizing Mr. Peppard - just passing on some trivia. LOVED ME SOME A-TEAM!
George was the headliner star of the show but George didn't like the fact that Mr. T - Got all of the attention - He got the fan mail - He got the love - Fans especially kids wanted to be Mr. T - George hated the fact the only reason why people even watched the show was because of Mr. T - His van was cool - His Mohawk was cool - His gold chains was cool and George was jealous of him
Yeah, I was later made aware of the tension between George Peppard and Mr. T. Maybe what irked Peppard about Mr. T was feeling that he received all that mainstream attention without paying his dues, and it looks like Mr. T was a little bit preachy. I'm glad they put their differences aside to create a fun show with (considering the action) a laid-back vibe (I consider The A-Team a great team, with every member equally valuable). And those action figures? Very cool!
Hulk Hogan Joked in his book that the producers of the A-Team tried to get him to stay on for the rest of that one season. Not for his acting skills, but because he got along with both of them and Hogan was able to calm some of the bickering, LOL
I think Mr. T mite have a bit of a anxiety problem. Lots of story's about him being difficult or apprehensive, never bad or unforgiving. Hard to be a star!
What Dave left out of this video is that the original disagreement between George Peppard and Mr. T is that Mr. T said that George's portrayal of Paul Varjak in Breakfast At Tiffany's was "dull and one-dimensional".
@@jdsundstrom I was pulling your leg. I just thought it would be funny if Mr. T was a fan of classic cinema and had Roger Ebert-like critiques of the actors within those films. It's really funny to me to hear Mr. T's voice in my head and talking like he is filling in for Ebert and he is talking to Siskel.
The reboot movie with Liam Neeson just didn't hit the mark. For one thing, the main characters' military background was period-shifted to the Gulf War. The original "A-Team" members were from the Vietnam War era. That just fit better in the 1980's when it was finally recognized what many Vietnam War veterans were dealing with back home. The audience could better empathize with the "A-Team" as they were each probably dealing with stuff from their military service and became outliers in society.
The movie A-Team pretty much were in the same situation at the start of their movie as the tv guys were in the fifth season. They were pretty much independant contractors working for the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan who went on the run when framed by rogue CIA members. The A-Team movie just couldn't hit that mark of cartoon -level violence with little consequences that was popular in many live-action and animated shows of the 80s. The 1980s was a time when the US Military in general and Vietnam veterans in particular, became mainstream heroic figures. In the 70s and early 80s the Vietnam vet in pop culture was an unhinged timebomb. In the early 80s that changed to where most action heroes of the period had to have Vietnam combat service in their background to establish their cred as bad-asses.
I didn't know about any riff. Murdock was my favorite. I also got a kick out of the fact that could be fifty feet apart shooting machine guns and never hit anything
I watched it all the time back then. There were ways rumors of the fuel. It was over the top. But fun. Another known fact directors said Peppard and Tony Francois were difficult to work with. All around it was good show
Back when I was stupid and watched "Entertainment Tonight", I caught a quick blurb about their friction. It aired not long after the show wrapped. GP said something like, "I thought I knew him." ET paraphrased MT's response. Not much else and there was no follow up as far as I know.

George even said on her last day he was sorry she was being let go but again pointed out a girl wasn't needed.
Peppard was an ass
Like all else, the media likes to play up these "feuds" and the dynamic between George and Mr. T was no exception. Yes, I'm aware of the tensions on set based on what I've read and heard since, but I thoroughly enjoyed The A-Team. Especially the hijinks between Murdock and B.A.
Yep. It's true. People do seem to enjoy hearing about "feuds" so the media AND other TH-cams (like myself) tend to offer them up on a silver platter. Still, I am glad that George and Mr. T were able to patch things up after the show ended.
@@jdsundstrom
Amen to that. Mr. T was and is a good man of the Lord.
George Peppard was one of the most handsome and talented actors! Underrated! R.I.P. all of you🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😢😢😢
I heard about the feud years after the show ended. Maybe even after George died. I was surprised because as your presentation noted, none of that showed in the scenes they were in together. I guess that's why they call it acting.
I loved the A - Team. They were basically a team of McGyvers(sp). Another one of my favorites.
I was a teenager in the 80s watching the A team show but NO. I didn’t know that George Peppard and Mr.T had some problems and or issues behind the camera and off the set between each other.
But I’m glad to learn from this video they did made their peace ☮️ sometimes before Peppards passing.
One of my favourite childhood programs
Grew up loving this show, this and reruns of mission impossible Lol. Favorite character was howling mad Murdock.....
You're not the only one who loved "Howling Mad" Murdock. He was definitely a fan favorite.
The A Team was like the male Golden Girls: all four were distinct characters and actors and the show would never work without any of them.
One of the later episodes it was blatantly obvious Mr. T was on set in a limited capacity because in his scenes the only castmate who appeared on camera with him was Dwight 'Murdock' Schultz.
According to A-Team trivia, no one died on the show except one implied death in the episode “The Sound of Thunder.”
Interesting! I did not realize that!
@J Lock
Mr. T. disparaged the feature film precisely because its A-Team killed people.
Thanks for sharing, TOM s!
George was an established actor. Mr. T was an entertainer.
Peppard probably didn't spend much time hanging w/Mr. T off the set. But surely he knew that his mohawked co-star was irreplaceable & essential to the show, regardless of their personal feelings for each other. Thanks for another great video, Dave.
Good point, Sam!
Late to this conversation, but Peppard had problems on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's. He was a difficult person.
George joined a roast of Mr. T, said nice things, they hugged. Peppard hated that Mr. T was doing pro wrestling and made sure people knew how he felt about it.
A-Team, Knight Rider, and a few others were Mac n cheese and microwave chicken nugget night. Good times..
Hi Dave! It was a great show. The 70's and 80s will always be unequaled by today's programs. I remember when Mr. T won world's greatest bouncer contest on TV. Good day for sure, a kinder simpler time when standards and morals still existed.🍻
You're right, Mark. The 70s and 80s were full of great TV shows!
Thanks Jared!
I'm with you, James. I didn't like Clubber Lang at all!
always 1 of my favorites while growing up.
I wasn't aware that Mr. T & George Peppard had a feud
George peppard was a mean drunk.
Loved the A team!
And a show that feels like a fever dream... A new Kind of family
GREAT VIDEO DAVE!!! As always, thank you so much for these videos and keeping these memories alive. You rock man. As I’ve told you before in other comments…”you’re a class act bud.” I would be happy to call you a friend!
Thank you for your kind words!
If there were tensions between those two it never showed onscreen, unless Hannibal was trying to get B.A. into an airplane. :-)
End of the day, they were both professionals and got the job done.
Man Those Action Figures Takes Me Back!
I got a couple of those toys, B.A and Murdock. Most of the accessories are lost or broken though. Pity.
Whoo another great vlog love your channel btw I had a crush on George when I was a kid lol loved him in Breakfast at Tiffany's 🤗💞 also remember my brother and I having Mr T cereal and loved his cartoon 🤗😎
Thanks for the kind words...and for sharing your memories, SRM!
@@jdsundstrom your welcome 🤗 💞
One of my favorite shows and all of the love was because of the actors/characters. Mr T was tops.
Mr. T. Was at the top of his game.
George wanted to be the First Star of the Show as he began career before them and was the Eldest.
But Mr.T was a badass because of his tough Temper !!
Like the vidoe..... can you talk about them replace the person playing "FACE" during the show it was Dirk Benedict that played Starbuck. But on the movie it was someone else..
Great suggestion, Ahmed! I'll add it to my potential topics list.
Awesome video! I loved the A Team. Never knew that they had that feud.
Glad you enjoyed!
been subbed for years 😃
Wow that A-team action figure commercial - amazing!!
I'm glad you liked it, Heather.
I hated that George made them get rid of Melinda Culea "Triple A" Amy Amanda Allen. I liked her working with the team.
Personally I don't even remember that character. To me the show was all about the four A Team guys and nobody else, Though I'm sorry to hear about the actress getting booted that way.
When Murdoch was dressed up as a Bride my favorite Keep UP the good work I always look forward to your videos
Voilà! Feuds.
The 2010 film suuuuucked hard!
I pity tha po' fool who says that film was good!
I didn't love it.
@@timepoet77 lol
There shouldn't be big screen movies
There shouldn't be any big screen versions of any TV shows. It just doesn't work.
I loved it when Hannibal said his classic phrase!
I was a little kid that LOVED this show. Hannibal was my favorite, too. Which is weird, cause I was ALL about the "muscle men". He-man, ahnold, etc.
My favorite character was the Face he had all the beautiful women, money, and fast white Corverette.
Face was what the 80's were about. Fast cars and good times.
I always wondered about the "Face" character - what's the back story on him? How does a guy with everything going for him like that get into U.S. Army special operations? These guys know how to hunt wild prey with a pocket knife and dig up grubs for sustenance. I don't see a character like "Face" fitting in with that.
@@ronaldschild157 ... It was a TV show.
Plus he was Starbuck!
Dirk benedict who played face, was a handsome guy.
Loved that show.
First time I EVER saw Mr. T was during the bouncer's competition that was aired om maybe ABC Wide World of Sports possibly?????
George Peppard was just like William Shatner. He couldn't stand anyone getting more attention than him.
T may have been the breakout star, but my favorite was Murdock.
An innocent time and for me a far happier time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I always wondered what would happen if you sent the A-Team up to the Death Star to have a shootout with the stormtroopers.
George Peppard also objected to having Melinda Culea on the show, as he thought she somehow didn't fit into the show's story (or something like that) - Not criticizing Mr. Peppard - just passing on some trivia. LOVED ME SOME A-TEAM!
He was right. Every time I see an episode she's in, she just stands there or sits in the van between Murdock or Face.
George was the headliner star of the show but George didn't like the fact that Mr. T - Got all of the attention - He got the fan mail - He got the love - Fans especially kids wanted to be Mr. T - George hated the fact the only reason why people even watched the show was because of Mr. T - His van was cool - His Mohawk was cool - His gold chains was cool and George was jealous of him
Thanks alot Dave
Yeah, I was later made aware of the tension between George Peppard and Mr. T. Maybe what irked Peppard about Mr. T was feeling that he received all that mainstream attention without paying his dues, and it looks like Mr. T was a little bit preachy. I'm glad they put their differences aside to create a fun show with (considering the action) a laid-back vibe (I consider The A-Team a great team, with every member equally valuable). And those action figures? Very cool!
Wow great video I was a big A TEAM fan back in the day
Loved your A-Team comic book review, Danny!
Hulk Hogan Joked in his book that the producers of the A-Team tried to get him to stay on for the rest of that one season. Not for his acting skills, but because he got along with both of them and Hogan was able to calm some of the bickering, LOL
Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
I want to go on record saying I had the entire 80s action figures and wish I still had them
I think Mr. T mite have a bit of a anxiety problem. Lots of story's about him being difficult or apprehensive, never bad or unforgiving. Hard to be a star!
I have never heard a bad word about Mr T...
What Dave left out of this video is that the original disagreement between George Peppard and Mr. T is that Mr. T said that George's portrayal of Paul Varjak in Breakfast At Tiffany's was "dull and one-dimensional".
I left it out because I didn't know that they had disagreed about that. Thanks for sharing, Skip!
They were pretty much
independant contractors working for the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan who went on the run when framed by rogue CIA members.
The A-Team movie just couldn't hit that mark of cartoon -level violence with little consequences that was popular in many live-action and animated
shows of the 80s.
The 1980s was a time when the US Military in general and Vietnam veterans in particular, became mainstream heroic figures. In the 70s and early 80s
the Vietnam vet in pop culture was an unhinged timebomb. In the early 80s that changed to where most action heroes of the period had to have Vietnam combat service in their background to establish their cred as bad-asses.
I wasn't aware of any feud. They sure didn't show it on the show.
All around it was good show
Thanks for sharing, starship trooper!
Robert Heinlein would be greatly displeased at your composition. Your schooling was mandatory to join the military.
Back when I was stupid and watched "Entertainment Tonight", I caught a quick blurb about their friction. It aired not long after the show wrapped. GP said something like, "I thought I knew him." ET paraphrased MT's response. Not much else and there was no follow up as far as I know.
I watch it every night while making supper.
