I tried to get into the elevator trade, but they didn't want me. I was in my 30's, a navy vet, with about 8 years background as a licensed factory electrician/mechanic and I worked in plant maintenance. I had PLC and installation experience plus some construction experience. You'd have thought the elevator people would have been glad to take me, and I sent out several resumes but never heard a thing. So I struck out on my own as an electrical contractor with 3 helpers and I'm proud to say, I made a good career and living out of it, with my wife Susie getting full credit for the office work
My cousin was a director that organisation he come from London England from a long line of lift engineers as we say here all the way back to the 1930s all working for one company the being Otis which I worked for the 30 + years as a service engineer in London working in such places a Buckingham palace
