    I feel it's one of two extremes.
    You either go:

    2) Full Herman Li (yknow, pacman noises and that)

    The first thing that non guitars players touch on a electric guitar is the whammy bar. For some reason they go crazy even if they don't know a single note.

      LOL so true. More than once I've had non-guitar player friends ask "Dude can I play with your guitar?"...Me, slightly apprehensive: "Sure, go ahead" (cause they're a friend). Every. Single. Time. They (ask me to) turn on the amp and get everything ready....they strap on the guitar like they're a rock god about to go out on stage...they hit an open E....and then they try to push the tip of the whammy bar THROUGH the guitar.....

    When I was a young teenager, my first guitar was a simple Epiphone SG G-400. after about 6 months of playing, I decided I wanted a second guitar. I saw a red, Randy Rhodes Jackson. I think it was an RX10D model. Not 100% sure the exact model. But I thought it was the coolest looking guitar I ever saw! And since I was a shred master and all, having a whole 6 months under my belt. I thought upgrading to a whammy bar was a good idea! End of rant, played for about 30 seconds, spent about 30 hours trying to get it back in tune, and sold it. And to this do, you could not pay me, to accept a guitar with a Floyd Rose. Thanks Digitech for the whammy pedal!

    • @s60416
      @s60416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol,I got a Jackson DK2 after 3 years of playing a cheap Strat clone and experienced similar thing...it took me 3 hours to restring and tune it for the first time. then I spent days searching how to properly set it,and after lots of tweaking it still goes out of tune whenever I dive, also notice that whenever I bent one string,the other strings would go out of tune because the bridge tilted a bit due to the increased tension. Eventually I lock the bridge with a Tremol-No and never unlock it.

    • @Aaron-zh4kj
      @Aaron-zh4kj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Always wondered too. I spend more time with my floyd rose guitars these days, but apparently, on those old strat trems, you have to lube up the nut and saddles really good, make sure you have decent springs, then when you put new strings on, break in the tremolo bridge (like whammy it down, tune it, whammy it down, tune it, over and over, til it keeps tuning). It sounds insane, and I thought it was too, until I watched some guy do it, and his old school style Fender bridge stayed in tune no matter what. Mind blown. There's a good video of some guy doing it here on TH-cam.

    • @mk7073
      @mk7073 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It didn't. Diving would put it a bit out of tune just like a regular Fender strat trem. EVH would compensate by giving a quick pull back on the trem to return it to more-or-less decent tuning

I couldn't have _designed_ it any cheaper or easier, I just had to cut off the end of the back cover plate to allow access. I always had to take the stupid plate off to change strings anyhow, they wouldn't come out the same hole they went in because of the bends in the strings. That's no longer a problem, but the springs are still covered for their safety and mine.
