I watched you video as breakfast entertainment... ;) Too bad you could find the same tool I used to separate the ball joint from the lower arm. But still, I would have expected your massive ball joint separator to work. Did you apply plenty of WD40? Sometimes it also helps to let the WD40 seep in over night. Anyway - in the end you managed with brute force to separate the assy (assembly). Using pipe-cut-offs of suitable sizes you should now be able to remove the remainders of the ball joint from lower arm and vertical link with your hydraulic press. - I'll be working on my S-Type today as well, hoping to weld a special insert part for my hydr. press to be able to push the new ball joint into the old vertical link...

Cool :) I should have known better since I used the exact same separator in Ep. 63 already and couldn´t really expect it to stiffen up over time... Other than last time I didn´t apply penetrating fluid because there doesn´t seem to be any space where it could go between the ball joint and the lower arm steel sleeve. On the other hand, I had expected the heat up/ cool down treatment to make a difference, but obviously it didn´t. Good luck to you!

@@AUTOdidact77 You would be surprised, how penetrating "penetrating fluid" (eg WD40) is. That's the whole point of it. Even if you cannot imagine how it could possible seep in, it finds a way... Heat makes only minimal difference - esp. if both part are being heated up.

Then I'll try this on the other side 😎

Ball joints of my X-type are a bit different, nevertheless I remove steering tie rods tightening the puller and knocking the puller bolt with a hammer. At least it works with tie rods. Good luck! P.S. Surely, I don't remove the tie rod nut entirely, leaving it on the edge, so that not to damage the thread.

Still at the machine shop, waiting for me getting the custom-made pistons which are once more delayed. Just called the shop to make sure the block isn´t scrapped 😇
