- We LOVED staying at HOKUPA’A, The Westin Maui’s new luxury tower! The LANAI was amazing, featuring exclusive views, bites, pools, and cultural experiences only for the guests of Hokupa’a.
Our favorite part about staying at the The Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Kaanapali was enjoying The Lanai every single day...and our amazing Lomi-Lomi massage on the beachfront cabana (thanks Heavenly Spa Westin)!
We visited in early February 2021, when travel to Hawaii was still very restricted due to Covid. Lucky for us, there weren't many people around the resort's pools, beaches, The Lanai, etc. It felt like we were just one of a few guests there!!!
In this vlog, we give a glimpse of:

We are headed for 2 weeks on Maui for our anniversary in October 2021. So glad to see this review as we are staying in an Ocean View in the Hokupaa Tower the first week and were hearing mixed things. We will spend our 2nd week at the Ritz (we’ve been there before and it’s a favorite hotel).

We specifically wanted this kind of view because when you look out of your window, all you see is the ocean - no pools, no other buildings, just the great Pacific...and if you're lucky, some playful whales 😊 We hope it won't be too crowded for you, and that you enjoy your stay. This was a great video! Considering this resort and the Andaz for my 50th birthday. My planning is wanting to do a few days in Waikiki Beach and few days here in Maui.

There's 3-4 Westin's on Ka'anapali now. This is one of the older ones while the others are North of Black Rock. Went last year and fortunately going back again in a few weeks

My experience with martiot is if you use points you are treated a like second class citizen. Upgrades are not available unless you are at the platinum level.
Interesting! We have a Marriott Bonvoy account but didn't use points for this stay. Luckily, we were treated with 5-star service, though this was during the pandemic's "strict times" - so there weren't a lot of guests there. If you visit the Westin Maui, we hope you get the same great service!

Hi there Dora, thanks for the kind words!! We booked online with Sail Trilogy (it's actually written on the video's timecode at 3:00) - it wasn't private, but it didn't feel like there were too many people either; we each had our own comfortable seats around the boat. Yes, food (various appetizers) and drinks (alcohol + non-alcoholic) were included, and kids were allowed 👍🏽 If you search "Sail Triology Sunset Lahaina" on Google, one of the first few links will bring you to their website with all the info for this particular cruise. We hope you get to experience it - it really was a fun time!!! 😊
RE: The Lanai lounge. I am leaning toward booking a room with this access. I have a very big (think big football player!) teen son, so I'm just concerned that he'll think the Lanai bites are too small. Could he go back multiple times? :) And then are there soft drinks available? I know there is a (billable) bar--but just curious if there are soft drinks provided during the day (similar to other Marriott lounges). I'm searching the interwebs for info! Your video was super cute. Very helpful!
Hi Kallie! Glad you found the video helpful, and thanks for the kind words! 😃 I think it's very possible that your son will think the bites are too small. I was once a teen athlete as well (this is Jeremy speaking), and remember my appetite back then lol! But the bites were enough for us as "meals" at times. I'll provide more detail on our eating-portions experience there, and hope it helps you decide:
For breakfast bites - at 01:36 in the video we had congee, pastries, and coffee and at 04:50 we had loco moco, fruits, and coffee as well - we aren't big breakfast eaters so this food was more than enough for us to get the day started. For lunch bites - I remember most of them being pretty small, like "this is definitely not lunch kind of small" - with the exception of one day, where they served various kinds of spam musubi, which were thick, tasty, and probably the best we had in Maui! We had multiple portions lol. For dinner bites - we never had dinner bites as we were always out in the evening and missed it.
We were always asked if we wanted additional plates, or could go up and get additional plates. When we went though, there weren't many others at the Lanai as it was still a "peak covid time" with Hawaii pretty restricted - so I'm not sure if you'll be allowed second or third portions nowadays.
Soft drinks are available but we never ordered any kind of soda, so I'm not sure if they would charge for soft drinks at the Lanai. We only ever ordered water, coffee, and beer/alcohol 😆
I wouldn't think of The Lanai's bites as meal replacements (though they were for us at times, i.e. breakfast above) - think of them more as snacks. If you get lucky and they are very hearty, (and you're allowed multiple portions), then I think you guys will be fine!

Great video you 2! We've stayed at the Westin Maui twice and just love this resort. My wife and I are actually staying at the Kaanapali Ali'i in November for a week just a short walk away. What was the highlight of your trip and we'll see if we can fit that into our itinerary!

That's awesome that you've been to the Westin Maui twice, and are going its neighboring resort in a couple months too 👍🏽 It's so hard to pick out one highlight of our trip, but we loved the lomi lomi massage on the outdoor cabana of the Westin Maui, the Old Lahaina Luau, Sail Trilogy's sunset dinner tour, the Road to Hana, all the food, and snorkeling/relaxing on the beach 😃 Definitely Maui Brewing too if you're into beers/breweries, it's a beautiful spot. Wishing you both a happy trip! 🤙🏽

We stayed recently- a bit disappointed at the 'normal' suits but either way the overall experience more than made up for it. Def busy but to be expected near xmas!

Does lanai lounge serve eggs for breakfast and they have a pool table?
The Lanai served different small "breakfast bites" each morning - we had croissants, loco moco (see 4:50 in the video), and there were some dishes with eggs in it, yes. But it could be completely different for when you go! They did not have a pool table at The Lanai, but there were foosball and shuffleboard tables!
Can we use lanai pool if you stayed at the hotel or there is another charge fee?
