- Living the Fall: Exploring New Hunting Grounds, Family Harvest and Outdoor Adventures!
Enjoy the beauty of Fall life in rural Central Ontrio with our Family Adventures and Fun Activities. We harvest Squash, head out on Fishing and Hunting Trips, and Explore a Backcountry Lake by canoe.
We cook fresh meals, harvested from the land, split firewood for winter, and explore trails in our by-side ATV. It’s all about family, nature, and enjoying the simple but fun rewarding things. #fallharvest #familyadventures #familytravel #JimbairdAdventurer #familyvlog
This video should have actualky gone before my Deer Hunting in a Canvas tent video and Solo at the cabin video where I closed up the cabin for winter. But, fkr a couoke reasons, I couldn’t get it up until after those were uploaded.
00:00:01 - Watch this Chasing Fall Adventure
00:00:58 - We harvested a lot of squash last year
00:01:48 - Look at these squash, we found one, two three four five six
00:04:30 - Come help me find Beans, Dad. I’ll help you. Come help find beans.
00:06:04 - For some reasons Julian and Nick jumped out of the machine
00:10:40 - We pulled over and stopped because we're faced with really deep mud
00:16:02 - Well we are back on the road, this was pretty awesome adventure so far
00:20:01 - We pulled over and stopped because we’re faced with a really deep mud patch.
00:27:33 - On the road we are already much better than a typical ATV trail
00:33:40 - It's too challenging and I don't have a ton of ATV Experience
00:39:18 - We could set up camp and search for deer signs; however, I'm already observing
00:45:21 - Well I shut off the camera due to embarrassment because it was the wrong lake
00:50:58 - We weren't even trying to fish and just trolling the lake for this time of the year
00:52:28 - We're not trespassing right now all these mushrooms cashed here
00:57:28 - Look at this, tons of brows here this is probably moose though
01:02:22 - You know the issue with this Lake that the good spots are taken
01:03:52 - It's been kind of drizzling on and off so maybe miss out but it will hit us
01:07:20 - Family Dinner Time: Squash is ready. Cheers! It’s good

Jim. I’ve been with you since the beginning. You are an interesting person and an awesome family man. It sucks that life dealt you an odd hand with your son’s condition BUT you guys accept it and soldier on. I really respect you and always ALWAYS look forward to your next adventure. Much love . Much respect. From Nashville Tennessee USA.
PS. Your brother is cool too 🙂
Much appreciated!
Huddy’s haircut KILLS ME 😂❤❤❤
Not half as funny as yours lmfao
The smile on Wesleys' face holding the squash. Priceless
Agreed!
I could watch you and that precious little Huddy all day. Teaching him how to work, the greatest gift a father can give his son. What a bond you have. He is so lucky to have a daddy like you. I had a fantastic dad growing up and I give him credit for the man I am today. Huddy and Wesley are very lucky to have such amazing parents. What an awesome family you have.
Makes me happy that you are making a good living sharing your life with all of us. Love seeing you get the cabin and some nice toys. Bravo Jim and thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! It means a lot.
1:20 100% your son lol “yyyeeeaaaaaa”
Haha, he was right into that!
I guess you gotta go deeper to find more room to hunt. Good times exploring. Thanks for sharing JB.
Ya, and just get more creative o think
Love your garden haul. Your children amaze me every time I watch them. They just live to learn and enjoy nature. Soooooo cool.
Thanks so much
Huddys' decision-making skills are something else. I love it. He already knows what's best.
Thanks, he’s a clever little guy
Look at this one dad! I miss my kids at this age. Gardening is still fun. Love this video.
Glad you enjoyed it
When Hudson held up the squash to the camera and yelled “ Yeaaaaaah” 😂 He is definitely a Baird!! 😂
Huddys haircut is cutsy hi west ❤
Thanks to God, you have the adventurous spirit of Ed Hillary (I'm also a kiwi).
Love your videos, great wife and awesome seeing your children enjoying this beautiful world.
My wife and I love watching your adventures especially with your family it's so beautiful how you bring them all and you and your wife patiently take care of your kids in such a special and patient way may the most high God creator of all keep you all safe and blessed on your next missions
Merry Christmas
Thank you, we really appreciate you watching and your kind words.
I can picture Huddy and his brother being youtube stars in the future just like y0u and your brother
Thank would be awesome, maybe they’ll take over the family business
Now that’s it Jim and Tori, love this one and thanks again for sharing! 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Thanks, we love sharing it with you!
Log splitter vs Axe. Crazy how smart Hudson is at 2 years old!
Jim, love your videos. But as a mother, Hudson was freaking me out with no shoes climbing on the logs with a hatchet. Both do your boys are a joy to see in your videos. Loving the family time.
Well, it was a tad concerning as a farther too. Hudson was telling me to be carful as he was worried that the round piece of log he was chopping would fall off and hit me when he made it through.
What a fun one! Thanks 😌 Huddy is going to be workhorse for sure, love how he pitches in even though at this age he might slow you down a bit 😉 Wes smiling away as always and taking it all in 💜 These videos will be so much fun to look back on as they grow up for you and Tori, the boys too…
Huddy is the Man, ❤❤❤ his Haircut.. he Says Yea!!! just like his Dad. CUTIE Pie Wes is so Adorable. Hello Tori & Jim. Huddy is such a smart & brave lil man. I love his Vocabulary & ecpecially when he gets Excited
yep, it's Christmas Day, time for a Jim Baird all day video(s) marathon, cheers,..yeahhhh!!!
Enjoy!! Merry Christmas!
Another great video . Hudson subdued walk off "@ 23:00" after not splitting the log was hilarious in a most wholesome way .
The whole family including North are always fun to watch .
Thanks for sharing .
Glad you enjoyed it
I've been bin watching your videos for months now. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy them. And your boys are so adorable and such a joy to watch how they much they love the outdoors. Wish i could reach through the television and hug them. Wonderful family you two have. And what awesome memories they will forever have.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
That's a great harvest of Butternut Squash, you can BBQ them, make them into soups yum! Good choices Huds, you got this!
Nice, I’ve never tried BBQing then. I typically roast them and then scoop them out and mash it up, adding some maple syrup, cinnamon and butter.
Oh i needed an update on Huddies growth as a logger. Super funny for a grandma. I enjoy your adventures. Super videography of your life
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best video ever Jim! You and Huddy!
Jim, can you buy a gas splitter for your house? I hate to see you hurt your back like I did last year and was out til now!😢 saves you time too
Thanks a lot! I thought it was a great vid too but it wasn’t too popular with views compared to some others. That being said the people who did watch loved it. I like the exercise of splitting but working a gas splitter can be exercise too. We will see, in time we may get one however we have been splitting all our wood by hand for seven years and heat exclusively with wood.
Omg could Hudson be any cuter? What an awesome little adventurer.
Thanks, he loves being out in the woods.
Barefoot Huddy with an ax No Bueno. I was nervous watching!
Love that you’re engaging with this content. Thanks!
I know, I was swearing at the TV. WTF?! 🤯🙄
Way to go Hudson true spirit of a up and coming woodsman getting stuck right in takes me back to the days as a kid , before all the mamby pamby world landed on us …….. On no you can’t do that lol, yeah right it’s the great outdoors you’ve got to learn by your mistakes , live for the moment .
How about living in a way that enables one to have MORE moments! You can enjoy the outdoors AND be safe; it’s not either/or.
@ Boys tend to do things a little different, like being told not to climb up there you’ll fall off , but boys being boys we do it anyway. That’s why girls go through adolescence without visits to the Accident and Emergency / Emergency room .
awesome man!! happy new year 🙌🙌✌️
Happy new year!!
Watching from OZ... Love all the content .. like the contrast in our wild spaces... A fair dinkum bloke and sheila striving to live the dream... bloody well done mates... Your 2 boys are in the best of hands. 😎
It's good to hear from someone across the globe enjoying the content!
So friggen awesome you get to experience this with your son and share it with us . Well done and ty. That boy is gonna be one hell of an adventurer when he gets older
That would be great if he was. I am very blessed and you’re very welcome
Great dinner bud
Thanks Kit and I forgot to show me frying up some of that fish I caught too!
Just amazing y’all!
Have the Merriest of Holidays ❤️🎄
Thank you, and the same to you!
Might be the best video you put out to date! Enjoy the Xmas break!
Loved this video !! ❤️. Some cute little kiddos ya got there 😊
Thank you!! 😊
Such an awesome video and series . Thank you so much for sharing your adventures
Thank you, we really appreciate you watching.
Man I so loved watching this while cooking up some salmon using Tori's recipe with the maple syrup and siracha. You are so right when you talked about just taking the time to get to know the land where there is no park map.
Love the clips with the kids too. Huddy getting so pumped for the squash was awesome. And we can so relate when you got to the muddy spot at the beginning and made the call to turn around (with Huddy agreeing of course). We are now new SxS owners with our 4 year old and we have enjoyed exploring the land but have turned around when things got a bit too sketchy and we didn't want to be in the middle of no where stuck with the kiddo. I guess we all become a bit more wise as we become parents :)
Absolutely, it’s why men’s car insurance goes down once they have a kid. Enjoy the salmon!! Ever tried candied salmon with maple syrup?
@@JimBairdAdventurer No but can you share the recipe??
I always used a half lid DOT approved so I could hear into the bush. Sometimes a dry fall would give away grouse running away from the vehicle thru the dry leaves.
My earliest memories of hunting with my father had me in the truck bed listening for rustling leaves. Oh there's one over there. lol
Haha, amazing…ya but when shoot, it’s not too loud for the old ear because the helmet blocs the sound when you’re heads turned a little sideways
Way to go Jim,barefoot toddler with a hatchet climbing on a log pile.
Haha, he loves that stuff
The best way to raise a kid, loved it!
I know, what could go wrong?! 🙄🤯
Yeah, it's kind of frustrating people feel the need to choose between helicopter parent and anything-can-happen free-for-all parent.
There's a middle ground.
Another hour long adventure with the Baird family! So much awesome content. Thanks Jim and Family! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Your fish always looks so good. Makes me hungry! 😋
Thanks, that’s the goal!
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Life continues, enjoy your adventure and family time
It’s good to get out and enjoy it all!
Jimbo 54:15 that is a clothes wringer there it is something I hath used for ALONG TIME NOW !!! Glad you got the fish there !!! WOW I was going to tell you about the line going CRAZY !!! that was the first time !!! Am Listening but am thinking of FISH The most haha giggle I am a true fisher Lady here !!!
Right on, thanks a lot
Man I love how you're abusing that machine haha!!! Yes!!! Cmon brother don't be afraid of the mud holes you have a winch!!
Ya, I didn’t feel like wallowing in it if I’d have gotten stuck. Might have been fine though.
@JimBairdAdventurer I hear ya... I've spent way too much time stuck in the bush. Soo much work
Try growing yellow wax beans next year- as they age they don’t get anywhere near as tough and make for way better eating! I only grow yellow beans now over the green varieties.
Good suggestion! We'll be sure to give them a try next year!
So fun😊
Thanks!
Oh no not a SXS you caught the virus! Everyone wants one these days! It's a pandemic! 😅
Nice score at the end!
Haha, ya, it’s a pretty fun one! 😂
you should jump on that bandwagon!
You should set up a splitting station with an old tire so you get multiple hits without having to pick up the pieces.
I keep telling myself that too but I just never happens
Love the video's buddy
Thanks 👍
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
Hi love your channel. Not to alarm you but we had friends that worked in a lumber yard.Their young son ran up the log pile and said look I’m a big boy. They told him to come down and he did but ran up again and something must have moved to set the logs rolling. He was crushed and passed.A freak accident but just to let you know it is possible.Love you guys
Thanks, but that is so devastating. I will consider that more. This log pile is not so big and it’s settled to an extent as the logs have seasoned for a full year.
Really great stuff!
Glad you think so!
Awesome video Jim.
Thanks 👍
🎉
Jim: Just a couple of hints for using your chain saw. With a properly cutting chain the only weight required for the saw to cut into the wood is the actual weight of the saw. No manual downward pressure should be required. Nothing will play you out more quickly that having to push on a dull saw to make it cut. If you have to push the saw it is time to get the file out. Also, the dogs (the 2 pointy things) on the saw end of the bar are there for a reason. They are used as a balance point to work the saw down through the log.....tipping the saw upward and downward as it cuts). Cutting on the far end of the bar on a log is a very tiresome way to cut. I have never used a bar longer than 20" and most of mine are 16". With the saw balanced on the dogs and with only the weight of the say required to make cut it is a much more enjoyable way to cut wood.
Thanks a lot for the intel my friend. Merry Christmas
Gun safety. If you are going to put it loose in back of vehicle do not point it at passengers. Lease land in the west is just liked owned land. Are rules different in Ontario. In Alberta a hunter shot an Elk on lease land and he found out he should not have.
Ya, they’re different on leased land in ontario. Also, totally agree with the muzzle direction which is what I do as well.
Killer garden
Thanks! Ya, that squash did great, all from seed.
Eyy que esta Hudson subiend los troncos descalzo y con un 🪓 hacha 😳
Indeed haha
@@JimBairdAdventurer He wasn’t complimenting you. That was ridiculous.
Huddy needs protection for his little face from limbs. I love your videos, but Huddy on those logs making me a nervous wreck 😂. I know you all a great parents!
Haha, well thanks, I was nervous if you couldn’t tell too but he was okay. I think the helmet and protective glasses are good. A whack across the cheek will just build character 😉
@ True! My kids are grown no gkids yet, but I’m sure I’ll be a nervous wreck. Although my son was the equivalent of wreck it Ralph and Earnest T Bass🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who on earth put the light bar right in the sight line. Jim, you are bending down constantly to see by it.
Ya, they did that so that the canoe could go in the roof. Not ideal though and you can’t put in a windshield
wow, the target at the waters edge was an illustration of idiocy.
Haha, wouldn’t have been my first choice either but at the same time, theirs is the only camp in that small lake and that is the only trail into the lake so, there’s nothing behind it, no trails etc and they were shooting down at it in such an angle where the bullets are very unlikely to skip anyways. So, not as bad as it might look, but ya, not recommended.
( there's lakes back there with great fishing, if you get into the right one I've even caught blue pickeral back there ( walleye or whatever anyone wants to call them ) I've also been in mud holes back there up to my nipples lol
Haha, I bet. You know in the area, my brother caught a pickerel that was blue but gin metal blue, almost silver. Pretty awesome.
I go deep into the mountains with my atvs all the time and made the mistake of not having a back winch once. Invest in a rear mount winch.
Solid idea
You need a Gransfors Bruk splitting Maul there the dog nuts, 12 years I’ve been using one , before that I was using junk like yourself broken shafts galore .
Thanks for the tip. I was using something similar not long ago and it was good. The one I had where the handle broke is a Chinese made knock off of this Chopper USA www.ebay.ca/itm/114792382887?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=706-89093-2056-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=114792382887&targetid=1657700490938&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=1002451&poi=&campaignid=17285617092&mkgroupid=135567174886&rlsatarget=pla-1657700490938&abcId=9300872&merchantid=10252592&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD00iIDMl9XlDtc9GZvUTzhTWIRlj but as you can see, they are quite soendy, more so it seems than the Granfors Burk.
@ yes I have one I did make a slight improvement to it and bought a replacement fibreglass handle and changed it over it works a treat , with less vibration through the handle . I did however buy a 27ton log splitter for home the splitting maul lays in my van along with my camp axe for my trips away both complimenting each other .
I know that log truck you past on Poor man Road. Its my friends log truck. Rogerson Logging, He drives a green Kenworth @JimBairdAdventurer
Ha, nice I chatted with him a bit. Good guy
In the old days, the hunters in any village would be the equivalent of professional athletes today. Now it’s just a bunch of fat dudes on ATVs with a case of Budweiser. Myself included LOL
For the most part that’s true. You can see my words covering that here facebook.com/share/v/1BQCgwuiNr/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Ahaha😂. I don’t remember that specific scene but I did watch that video. I think I just unknowingly quoted you to you! Maybe I came up with that independently but I’m probably not that bright
I don’t see Heather in the family table pic. 🤷
I think they divided and conquered
Dude, I don't know, man.. I'm a pretty free range parent, kids in the woods doing it all, but sending a 2-3 year old up loose logs with a hatchet seems irresponsible...
Then Chopping wood with your axe handle aimed directly at your toddler? I thought, wow he's never had an axe head fly off like we have, but then yours did! Jeez.
My husband wont even chop wood if I'm standing straight out from the axe handle cause those things break intermittently or the wood shrinks and the axe head loosens and comes off.
Anybody watching this, you can be a cool parent who lets your kids take on a lot of challenges without risking an axe head to their face or a severed toe to teach them independence.
We've had axe heads loosen and come off and take massive chunks out of our concrete patio. Can't imagine what that would do to a person.
I know I'm going to get demolished over this comment but I just couldn't handle this video. I've got 2 boys in the woods all the time that are strong and capable. But risking an axe head to the face is not cool in my book.
Jim, I've got a lot of respect for you and I think you and Tori are incredible parents. I'm sorry if this comment pisses you off. Just maybe use a little more caution when it comes to high stakes stuff like axes and toddlers. I know we're all learning on the job here (parenting), but there's a lot to be said for weighing how high the stakes are before you let them figure it out themselves.
As if I’m going to read all this lol
Jim, I just noticed something, at minute 47:40 you are paddling, but you arent moving. Im watching the tree on the other side and I can see how fast the river is flowing. You aint moving bud. lol I am still loving the adventures tho.
Hey, this isn’t a river, it’s a lake so the water is not moving. Could that explain it?
Best video ever Jim! You and Huddy!
Jim, can you buy a gas splitter for your house? I hate to see you hurt your back like I did last year and was out til now!😢 saves you time too
Thanks a lot, ya I like the exercise but a gas splitter might be in the cards.
