    As a property manager I absolutely hate these light, they are breaking constantly. It seems like a ton of modern home appliances are made to break and be replaced every few years... a bunch of junk these companies sell us.

    I have these at 5 locations around my house. I love the looks, but they die on a regular basis. I’ve had to replace all of them at least once. They need to improve the design.

    do all motion sensors have a photocell? dusk dawn type deal? just curious as to why my lights don't work in the day..

    Sensor's blinking red but no light even in test mode / normal lamp mode / dualbrite off.

    If your light stays on for hours and doesn't turn off by the sensor, make sure that the Dualbrite switch is in the OFF position. My light started to stay on all night after I had an ac technician working outside. I found out that he turned that switch on.

    My problem is the lights come one when I switch on the power and stay on at night, turning off during the day.

      bebetigre12 mine does the same thing for me it only works on test mode any other setting just the red motion sensor light blinks but it doesn’t turn on the lights and it’s at night time it still doesn’t work

      Mine doesn’t work at all, even on test. Sometimes when it’s cool outside, it will randomly work. Does anyone know what electronic component is always failing on these so I can just open it up and fix it myself?

    Interesting. Thanks for the upload though mine is not this bran, it could be the source of the problem so thanks again.

    I recently changed both bulbs w/ Defiant bulbs. When turning the power back on, the lights will now not turn off. They stay on bright mode. Any suggestions

      Mine won't turn off either. I tried shutting off the breaker for a while to see if it was stuck on manual mode or needed to be reset, but it is still on.

      Are they LED bulbs? If so, you need to make sure they are “dimmable” or “dimming”.

      The solid state device that is used to do the "soft" turn on and off is shorted in the on position

    • @bgable7707

      Really, And I bought the non-dimmable thinking either on or off, not somewhere in-between. I'll have to try the dimmable ones.

      I’ve replaced mine on a regular basis. Something in these burn up and Zenith hasn’t bothered to make them more reliable.
      I’ve recently installed all LED (dimmable) bulbs to go easy on the relay thinking that it’s burning up from too much current. I also used dielectric grease because the current might be too low.
      Even doing these things another one died this week and I’m here looking for someone that’s opened one up and fixed them, rather than spending $20 for a new module.

      It's usually the photo cell sensor - easy to identify on circuit board - cheap part to replace but you have to know it's particulars such as type of sensor material - operating voltage/current and wire lead legend ( which wire is emitter/ base/ collector. You might be able to read part number and search for identical one at either DigiKey Electronics - Mouser Electronics or Newton Electronics. It can take up some time but can be fulfilling if you like doing this kinda stuff....

    • @yargnitstingray
      @yargnitstingray 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bourn Phree That’s a good point, however I don’t think the red light comes from motion during the day. If I’m correct, that would make me think the whole circuit is shut down by the photocell.
      I’ve taken the last one that’s gone bad apart and planned to test the triac. Been too busy to do much more than give it intimidating stares. 🤣

  • @arickle

    Lol unlike everyone else here, I have a problem that these will absolutely never turn off and if they do they come back on immediately. Why don't these things have an On/Off switch. Mine doesn't have a lamp selection. Garbo

      Let me know when you find a dual brite setup

    • @polytux1
      @polytux1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kellygb9278 I chose DualBrite years ago before LEDs were lumen comparable to halogen. Now, with LEDs on par with PAR floods - pun intentional - I am abandoning the DualBrite concept.

    • @polytux1
      @polytux1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, junk. My 2nd sensor (3.5 years old) has corrosion across Test switch solder joints. I also suspect a bad photocell because the bulbs flickered erratically for two nights before I cut the juice.
      I bought a separate 1100W tungsten ballast with photocell for seven bucks at Lowe's and will probably install in series before a dedicated motion sensor. I'm tired of Heath Zenith's junk. I don't wanna be climbing a ladder at 70 to change it again.

    • @kellygb9278
      @kellygb9278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@polytux1 Thanks, I agree that LED is more cost conscience, but what I am trying to do with the DualBrite system was control a two light circuit (garage door lights). By having the radio controlled module, I could use the separate battery powered motion sensor to turn on or off the light switch to that circuit. If I add a motion sensor, I would need to add one to each light fixture. The DualBrite worked best by turning on or off the circuit, remotely & with the added features of dual lightning & security on or off, with a motion
