Yes, they did test fly the captured Me 262 after the war extensively in GB after the war. The only limitation was the very short engine life of about 25 flight hours till they had to be replaced, so they run out of replacement engines pretty quickly. It was the same here in CZ. We had quite some number of Me 262 airframes, but not enough engines to actually set up a jet combat unit, so the remaining 262s were just used to some flight tests and education of pilots and ground crew about the upcoming jet povered fighters. We still have 1 one seater 262 and 1 2 seater trainer in our Air Force Museum at Kbely Airbase, Prague.
A4B had the capability to carry missiles, but they weren’t very good. It should also be noted that the A4 wasn’t a fighter. It was a ground attack aircraft that could hold up pretty well in a fight IF the 20 mm cannons would work. They weren’t all that good either. Jammed a lot had quite a spread.
A Mk108 has a third of the wheight of a Mk103 , 55kg vs about 150kg . So 4 of them in the nose would be quite heavy and the Mk108 shoots faster , 650rpm vs 450rpm . The 262 was ment to shoot down large bombers , for fighters a Mk103 would be better or a 20mm Mg151/20 . The only thing is that most players like to head on , wich is devastating for them if you face 4x30mm Minengeschoß . Just a little spray of 30mm with a good aiming and it's done . Hard to learn , but very deadly . I don't know why gaijin desided to give the Me262 28sec or 30sec and more turn rate , a Arado 234 jet bomber turns as good . The only advantage against cold war jets could be the turn rate , you can't catch them even with your boosters on . As you dogfight this Meteor , you should pull up with your rocket boosters . You can easy stall him out if he follows you , just fly in a circle up and stall him out . And if he don't follows you , you got him anyway or an advantage over him . There are 3 other versions of the Me262 , HG1 , HG2 and HG3 . " HG is HochGeschwindigkeit " means high speed , with swept wings , race cabin , the engines moved more to the center of the jet , new designed tail , it should operate at speeds of 950kph . Were the normal Me262 got unstable , the HG3 looks way different than a normal 262 and was only on paper . HG1 and 2 got a flying prototype .
Literally the first video I have seen where anyone has anything good to say about the me262, and probably the most recent. Doesn't look good for me, grinding the german air tree first because I want to fly the 262
The 262s as a whole are really not that good. They have pretty low thrust, poor turn rate, and need to be going fast if you want any semblance of good performance. So 99% of the time, you'll be taking the enemy in a head-on, which you stand a fair chance to lose since the velocity on the Mk108 is akin to chucking the shell with nothing but your own arm. Hell, I'd even say that the R2Y2 can do everything the 262s can, but better.
I almost killed one with a Buffalo on ground RB, but the match ended. I think the point of playing this aircraft is just the simple fact that they look cool, they’re historically the first fighter craft to see combat as far as I know, and if done right they can be fun.
LOVE THAT PLANE but there is another plane that many people dont know exist the Me 163 B-0 it is painfull to see a rocket power plane whit 6m fuel at 8.7 and it is not even better than the other one at 8.0
Those 20mm 151's are way easier to aim than the 30mm 108's, and it gets up to four of them, with more ammo. They hit a little less hard but I'd rather have them. I don't know that it deserves as big of a BR bump as it has for that though.
Kinda feel like the entire range needs to be knocked down .3 br except the jabo. And maybe the c1b. They're just dog slow poor handling and poor climbing planes. Very cool but imo overtired.
I really wouldn't recommend playing plane rb it's MAD boring imo, but if you want to play planes I recommend playing ground rb then hop into a plane and dogfight the incoming Cas and fighters
@@sovietninja5976 it can be boring if you’re wanting to jump straight into dogfights but that’s why arcade exists. I’ll run a couple arcades just to warm up for RB sometimes. Air RB is quite rewarding and pays out lions much more too.
Air RB is all about timing and tactics and actually playing and knowing your aircraft. If you go into it looking to jump right into a dogfight and you get too excited you’ll be disappointed and shot down fast. That’s what arcade is for. But air RB pays lions much better than arcade and let’s you really play your aircraft to its fullest along with being more challenging. You’ll love it.

Around 4 minute mark I do agree they need to add far more user skins (that are visible to other players) to various planes for sure.

Hey you should try Morko-Moranne, now you can choose to change the 50 cal for a german 20 mm mine launcher
@Yackythegacky yep this strange names keep tricking me even after 1 year playing sweden
I used it in arcade and just seal clubbed my way through rank 1-3 lmao. It was great

Gaijin even planned to add the HG II, but probably forgot about it
@@rudatkatzn9171 Damn , would be a cool jet . Maybe a BP vehicle or reward from a new event in the future ?!

As a tank player rb, the only good 262 is the 50mm one at 6.7.
The event/market a2a sturmvogel is also amazing for the 6.7 tank lineup, i prefer it to the 50mm because its also great against planes

And F-86 players explain/act like how their jets are worse while annihilating a team of 262s

Bro is smoking weed
The only downside is that the cannons have shit range and are hard to use. Otherwise it's pretty well the same mess that other early jets are
Yea, the R2Y2 is way better
Wonderful shot on that A4E, Tankestein!
I would like to know if i should complete the grind of the american tec-tree or the german tec tree (am tier two in both of them)
Good one on that Meteor lol

b29 should be at 6.3
I miss seeing them in my ta 152 they were fun to intercept
How do you turn on those rocket engines? :)
Bind a button

Want to find Boosters in the controls menu and assign a key to it.
@@doomedsoul1696 Thanks man, found it!
I still have to find a worse plane in the German tech tree than this trash. I would much rather play the American F-84 at 8.7 than this thing at 8.0.
