History Of The Me 262 HG Series (HG I, HG II, HG III) - The Fastest Me 262s Ever Produced

- The Me 262 HG Series is one of the most intriguing lines of research ever done with the Me 262. The HG series, or Hochgeschwindigkeit (meaning high speed), was a series of progressively more radical developments on the Me 262 that were aimed to make it faster and more maneuverable, going from the HG I to the HG II, and ending on the extremely advanced HG III, of which would have been nearly as fast as the top Korean War era fighters, such as the F-86 Sabre or MiG-15. This series of planes was an attempt to get everything out of the Me 262 possible, before needing to switch to an entirely new and more modern design. Though the HG I was both built and flown, with the HG II likely to have been built, but never flown, this series of planes is a relative success considering when they were produced and under the conditions which they flew. Sadly, none of these prototypes survive to this day, although we have a fair amount of knowledge on the work done with these planes, which I present to you in this video. This is the History of the Me 262 HG Series - The Fastest Me 262s Ever Produced.

History of the P.1101 - The Variable Sweep Wing Fighter Of The Future: th-cam.com/video/HbBa0NZG-vg/w-d-xo.html
Oh great... Another incorrect video...
I really wish they added these all. Even HG3. Just make it a premium for being half paper, I'll buy that sexy beast
Really cool video, the Me-262 has always been my favourite aircraft and I sill learned a lot about its prototype designs! The prospect of a 262 HG III being prototyped in 1945 that could have theorethically rivalled even jets from the 1950s like the Sabre, Cougar or even maybe a MiG-15 is frankly quite insane to me..
Theoretically does a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
@@redskeleton4324 xD
More history contents like this please, it's more sustainable too than relying with WT only
HG 3 looks so much like a modern jet, it could've been with an afterburner too.
They say it would have been comparable with the F9-F Cougar, which didn't fly until late 1951. The HG 1 and HG 2 were the most likely to have seen production, but the HG 3 was not unreasonable, especially if conditions in Germany were a bit different.
@@Tankenstein germans seem to always pioneer the technology in ww2. Even fielding the first production fighter jet, and massively utilizing angled armor in RHA (inb4 T-34 reeeee)
@Sp8kyMuhG8ky massively utilized in tanks. Every single ship is extremely angled if you look at any of them
@@reedman0780 well each nation had ist very own special secret technology resach groups in WWII and their hilarious too out of this world thinking is really samething and each nation had its own charming way of doing it the British were:"well it may work so putt it too use"
The Americans "hold my beer I have a idea..... >Fire bomb bats!< "
The soviets "drunken scrapyard project "
Germans "groundbreaking technology or size maby both"
@@TheLtVoss I barely get the gist of what you're saying but yeah they do. Most happened after or in the middle of ww2. Its just that, HG 3 looks hella futuristic for its time. Although given the engines that will probably be used with it, I dont think it'll be that great. Even if it was built, it'd use the same jumo 004? Jet engine which barely made the 262 faster than the latest P-51
TY, never heard of these HG I-III-variants before
Me too, and im german hahha🤣
Excellent video, great history content.
About the acceleration.
Early jets were horrible for throttle response. You could not just slam the throttle(s) forward. You had to "coax" them. Any significant gain in acceleration for the Me262 (as opposed to top speed) would likely be directly attributable to throttling improvements, rather than finalizing its clean configuration.
The idea to improve acceleration wasn't really to do with the throttle. Their idea was to fit rocket motors to the 262 which greatly increased it's acceleration.
@@truereaper4572 Which they did . Notice the number of 262s with 2 RATO pods under the mid fuselage .
Yeah - the racing canopy - somewhere in the former east germany in an museum they have this airplane on display
We MUST have this in War Thunder at all cost.
@getehrwolf6111 and F-84 and F2G players would vote for it to not be in the game or to nerf it out of existance because "unrealistic"
Love these history videos
Please keep making more videos like this they are very good
Thank you!
3:45 love how he uses "Rennkabine" as if this was actually a name instead of just racing cabin in german xD
It is correct , though . It's what it is in German .
Can you do the Italian jet they made during the war ?
The Caproni Campini N.1? I've been thinking about it. Good idea!
Perfect for an event vehicle
I'd love to see the original Me-262 design with the engines in the fuselage. I expect something close to the MiG-9. Maybe the Soviets were inspired by Messerschmitt's initial design.
Keep that hustle up tankenstein
Low drag canopy would have reduced vital visibility bubble canopies in late war a/c mustang spitefire fw190a and d messersmitt galland hood ?
At 2:30 in the video, there is a lot of flicker. Maybe some form of warning is appropriate.
Good
What if i tell you that i have in my possesion the personal/flight document of a Messerschmitt Me 262 HG II German Pilot called Martin Schmidt, dated 18th of november 1944
That would be pretty cool
Can you somehow scan it and send me a copy
Leak it on war thunder forums lmao we need the HG II
do you think they will add one of them as event or April fools reward ?
0:02 if hs 219 is the rapid fire this is the Fast duck
Gosh the HG-II looks like the typical supervillains private aircraft, super badass
Its funny how just shapes and design can influence the mind. Even being 70 years old the 262 just looks awesome and powerful, the hg look alien and stereotypically evil.
Was the max number of 262s in a single attack on allied bombers near 30
The HG III looks most interesting. It looks like a modern jet of today.
I was reading comments and world of warplanes has these planes hg 2 T9 HG 3 as T10.
I would love to see these planes in wt
HG2 and HG3 look like Sabres and MIG's , nice copy of the 262 . If you look at the crapy P80 later F80 , that's a whole different jet . Or the Gloster Meteor , at this point the Germans were quite impressive . 262 was ready in 1942 , but not the jet engines . So imagine this in late 1942 , would have been a shock for the allies . More than it was in 1944 .
Just take a look at the Ruhrstahl X4 and X7 , a wire guided ATGM launcher for infantry and a AA missle for planes . About 1000 were build and testet in FW190 , maybe we get this in WT ?
Man, I don't think many of us understand the Newtons stuff, just say how many pounds of thrust it had
Max speed clean version 624mph in ww2
I grew up in pound of thrust not kilonewtons!
pls use more Kph :'( but for the rest good video.
@Sp8kyMuhG8ky true but most people know kph better then mph or knots.
@Sp8kyMuhG8ky ..... are you saying the reason Germany lost is because they knew how to use kph? What are you on about
The Me 262 was as you said not the only jet aircraft in Germany’s arsenal, how many jet aircraft were the allies building? We all know that the Germans were ahead in designs and manufacture. Your claims as to why there were never enough up fighting the bombers is flawed, petrol and the lack of pilots was the largest reason.
Lol they'd be useless in wt bc gaijin sees the 4x30mm and thinks 9.0 xD.
Мустанг р:51 просто не с мог бы сделать этот маневр не су:27.у не него просто отлела винто моторная рама он просто при этом маневре ,"сложился"но это про негров а они же Берлин взяли 😂.
That english pronounciation of Jumo, and Junkers makes my ears bleed.
It's not a hard "J" sound of the english, it's a soft j sound.
Like if it would have been yunkers or similar.
Typical english and american stuff.
Otherwise i enjoyed the video.
Same story as with the Jagdtiger, or any king of Jagdpanzer.
...or any other german word including the J sound.
Noted. Thank you!
Not every English speaker pronounces German words incorrectly, although the narrator here is particularly bad. He pronounces Lechfeld wrongly too. And don't get me started on kilOMetre instead of KILometre.
Yunkers, Yoomo, Yagdpanter, Yagdteeger, Yagdpantser, Mesershmitt, Shtookah...
Imagine Panzerjäger and HitIer Jugend having the Js pronounced as J instead of a Y.
War thunder
PLEASE, It'S not pronounced "junkers" like in "junk", but "Junkers" like in "youth".
Yun-kehrs (idk how to write slight r rolls in text, I did my best)
@@Suo_kongque try to pronouonce it like "bonkers" just place "you" instead of "bo" ;D

If… If… If… What a crock of Bullshit. Germany never had the materials to build the more advanced designs nor the engines. They had over 1000 Me-262s sitting waiting for engines that were never installed because they were never built. Pure Fantasy.
The thing is post war tests of these aircraft including the continuation of the 262 production under the avia name of S92 proved that the jumo 004 b engines we’re more reliable than shown in ww2 when produced with needed materials for withstanding the combustion chamber temperatures and was far more reliable, the majority of engine issues these jets had was down to not having enough materials of then proper quality, yes if the Germans had more time and resources the absolutely could have produced these more advanced designs so it’s not a crock of crap
Ur mad beaches your favorite jets take ideas from the germans?
This is just so wrong, just look at the P.1101 or even Me 262 HGII both wer built and the Me P.1101 was borderline a 2nd gen jet... And NO there wasn't 1000 Me 262s waiting for their engines, the 1000 built Me 262 that couldn't see combat were locked in factories because of allied tactical fighter strafing or bombing any train or truck transporting them..
@@c0ldyloxproductions324 correct , sir .
624mph was a speed version of 262mph in ww2
Gosh the HG-III looks like the typical supervillains private aircraft, super badass
Looks like something from Captain America The First Avenger or Wolfenstein
Except that the Germans were the good guys.
