      I would say if you are getting close to retirement go for it if you can. Life is short and are health seems to be even shorter then our life span. After covid is over or people can travel at will consider it. My dad lived to 98 worked his butt off his entire life and never complained but as he was getting older his body was breaking down. I think there were things he would of liked to have done but his body stopped him.

      Sandra Lee it’s natural in some super tuskers. They can use the crossed tusks as an advantage to prevent the trunk from getting injured in a fight with another of its kind. For bull elephants, these tusks, (especially those that are crossed) are also a personal place where they can rest their trunks if they’re tired. Rambo is not the only Elly with crossed tusks. take the late echo, a female elephant with crossed tusks and the most famous elephant in the amboseli national park

    • @aidangm7419
      @aidangm7419 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natestorm194 crossed tusks can be useful too. They can be used as trunk rests. In amboseli, crossed tusks are a common genetic variation amongst the elephants, specifically within females, echo for example had crossed tusks. It is also how they naturally grow. If they try to fix the tusk adjustment like twisting it for example, the areas of skin around the tusks could experience pain and bleed.

  • @morrisheinersz2005
    @morrisheinersz2005 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are thetusks still useful to him when they are crossed in that way?

    • @julieenslow5915
      @julieenslow5915 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am sure he uses them a little differently than other elephants, more as a shovel and less as a pick. But as a shovel, and crossing as they do - he probably can lift more weight (if he can get a good "hold" of what he is lifting - speaking strictly from a structural standpoint.

    • @aidangm7419
      @aidangm7419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They can also be used to rest their trunks if they get tired from feeding on grass.

    this is a travesty, he clearly cant even flip dirt onto his self, how has no one tried to repair this by shortening his tusks'

    • @aidangm7419
      @aidangm7419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crossed tusks is common. Rambo can just put his trunk under is tusks and just spray the dirt with ease. Cross tusks can be used to dig up food and water and to rest their trunks after use during feeding as eating can exhaust their trunks so crossed tusks can help rest their trunks. Plus if they shorten his tusks they will never grow back. African elephant tusks can grow as long as they are not damaged. If a chunk or piece of it is broken, it will never grow back. Crossed tusks are one of the most common tusk variations in elephant genetics especially in females from the amboseli population. The late echo for example had crossed tusks as well as many of the other living females in amboseli. Plus tusk genes are what also allowed some elephants to be big tuskers, since there are less than 30 left, they are important for their gene input so as they mate with females, their genes along with traces of tusker genes can be inherited in most of the resulting offspring. Some males fathered by some of the big tuskers like Craig, tolstoy and the late time in the amboseli population who are aged 25-30 already have extraordinary large tusks for their ages. Rambo may have inherited a mix of genes of a male super tusker and cross tusked female which may have been the result to what he is now.
