I'm trying to verify this account including the Hammer of God quote but it seems that Baghdad was an epicenter of knowledge, the Mongols didn't represent the sort of Chinese civilization implied, and the treatment of the city was extremely harsh, indeed evil, hard to look at the wholesale murder of 90k residents and the semi-permanent destruction of millenia-old irrigation systems as divine justice. Having said that I have wondered about the succession of Muslim caliphates and attributed their decline to shirk. Ummayad is due to propagating the parallel religion, Abbasid is due to belief in uncreated Quran, Fatimid is due to excesses of veneration of Ali (RA), etc. Ultimately Juj and Majuj were permitted to break down the barrier, or go around it, which exists in the passes between Afghanistan and Xinjiang. Anyway the main offense doesn't seem to be the beheading of a favored delegate or relative so much as a refusal to show up and pay tribute to the empire in China.
The Muslims have suffered for more than a century and still suffer.... We can´t classify this as being trials .... We reep what we sow! Trials do not go in circles back to back.
