For all the people who say protobanham loses all the time in Japan, Yoshidora is a beast of a player who has beaten Acola and for sure would destroy many top international players given the chance. Protobanham just barely losing here is nothing to be ashamed of. All these Japanese players are top tiers
As a Yoshi player I was blown away! He skipped the initial bounces by hitting a perfect timing, and it's about time players got consistent enough to use it in tournaments! It's actually a good tool, but no one uses it due to the risk!
@@beckettherbert6544it's more like...the move is really useless 99% of the time and as much as I know yoshidora is the only one who make it looks good 😅
@@CaCdeus Yeah, its really situational and tough to pull off consistently. But Yoshidora shows that there is a tier of Yoshi play where people will start to take advantage of side-b. It'll be interesting to see if future top Yoshis will pick up this use or drop it.
@@legendredux1291 These comments are soooo stupid. Melee is a completely different game. It's like saying "Sparg0's Cloud is bad. Have you ever seen Cloud's combos in Final Fantasy 7?".
Crazy set. The min min pick was odd imo. Also, am I crazy or wouldn't Marth just be objectively better in the Yoshi matchup? To deal better with boxing out, double jump armor, side b kills
only a character like yoshi could have set up a tech chase with side b and cover all options with the same side b and only a player like yoshidora could react to that situation without even thinking
@@muteking9241 not really lol. Anyone with range mainly swords can ruin Yoshi. And guess what? That's most of the top tier chars. Literally stuff his aerials and Yoshi has to rely on egg throw catches or ftilt/uair... That's if Yoshi can even get in.
@@tr4sh37 You sure about that? Yoshi is even to +1 on any slow swordie (Ike, Corrin, Pyra, etc.) and only struggles a bit with fast swordies. And even then, it's only a -1, Yoshi has no -2 at all in this game, because his "losing" matchups are always doable with Yoshi's mobility and edgeguarding abilities. Like, let's not forget Yoshi has the highest airspeed and top 20 ground speeds. Getting in isn't THAT hard. Look at this match for instance, Yoshi is still capable of finding openings, mostly due to his speed.
He's not doing terrible in Japan though. He is mostly getting top 8 in tournaments he says he is going to focus on. Basically, Japan is just very stacked and Acola is just really good.
not an upset cuz Many Japanese thought Yoshidora would win that or if banaham had won he gonna lose against hero (he loses all the 6 times against hero)

It's difficult to space tippers vs a character with Yoshi's air speed. Lucina can consistently wall Yoshi out.
