    Great video and Rick is a great guy! I was on the road to Pickwick on the Mississippi side and had a low oil light come on so I pulled over with the basscat in tow and took my wife’s vehicle (she was following me to lake with the kids) to an auto parts store. When I got back with the oil, my wife and kids said the President of basscat boats stopped to see if he could help and stayed with us to make sure we were ok until you called and said you were on your way back. He autographed a basscat hat also and gave it to the boys. They were stunned and I was in shock not believing it until they described him and showed me the hat. Wow!

    Really interesting just listening to Rick talk about boats and construction difference between manufacturers. BassCat in my photo is 2001 model, I won't ever get rid of it. Still has original seats and carpet. It's all in the care and maintenance keeping one up. Thanks for sharing the time you spent there with talking to Rick and the BassCat folks. Owners are definitely part of their family.

      Hey Ken, no the Germans only dream about being able to enjoy the fishing Sport as we do in America. First they do not have the Rivers and Lakes as we do and Most of the Waters you are not allowed to use Motor Boats and there is not a Industry here for boats. The people who have Motor Boats goes with them to other European Countrys where they can use them and thats why I must travel often back to the US to enjoy this great priveledge. Take care Brother!!

    My story of who took me fishing is the same as rick's, my grandpa was a crappie fisherman and took me just barely out of diapers and every year after that up until my memory recalls around 4or5 year's old. My mom told me we went up to lake ouachita every year while mama & papa was camped at little fir and I got to cast out a minnow! So my first fish was a crappie.

    The lake being high is a great thing. That lake needs a break and it's great for the fry and stocking survival. The grass can grow in high water, last time it was this high we had the best grass I've seen in years

    There's a little bit of difference between what Ballistic does with their process vs the Bass Cat process. From what I understand Ballistic pulls the resin in with a vacuum and Bass Cat draws air and excess resin out with a vacuum.

    • @KenSmithFishing
      @KenSmithFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel I may be wrong but I think it’s the same process

    • @DRich0088
      @DRich0088 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KenSmithFishing somebody made a comment on a Ballistic post and they said their process was different because it was vacuum infused. That's all they said about it so I looked it up and from what I found it sounds like they pull a vacuum on dry glass and that pulls in a predetermined amount of resin. That seems like a more difficult process to get right.

    • @55mlapoint
      @55mlapoint 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DRich0088 in general I believe they are the same process to put the resin in and then they suck out the excess resin and it presses the resin down into the fibers, but the fibers on the Bass Cat are all fiberglass and Ballistic has Kevlar and carbon fiber plus Rick said he only does this on the stringers, the entire hull on the Ballistic is vacuum infusion and the top cap is vacuum infusion as well.

    • @DRich0088
      @DRich0088 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@55mlapoint the resin process is totally different. With vacuum bagging your glass, CF or kevlar has the resin applied before the "bag" is installed or a vacuum is pulled. The infusion process your glass, CF or kevlar is dry when the vacuum is pulled and that draws the resin into the fiber.

    • @55mlapoint
      @55mlapoint 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DRich0088 I visited ballistic boats last year I do know that the process they are using is Vacuum Infusion..pulls the resin into the fibers and pulls the remaining out at 30000 PSI that's all I know, which results in a stronger and lighter structure

    Ken with resins as a bonding tool ok ok better this way in ink like copy paper ink.. toner will run off paper if not having resins infused.. ok now to blow your mind
    There is resins that used in powder coating that stronger than steel but to put it in a bass boat cost way way to much for NOW BUT 5 years MAYBE LONGER COST WILL GO DOWN... THEN WHO EVER BUILDS A BASS BOAT USING THAT OOOOOO MY LORD... HINT 70% LIGHTER AND U CAN ADD COLOR ( GLOSS OR FLAT OR WHAT EVER) THEN THE. COLOR IS NOT JUST ON TOP....
