A friend of mine has an older Pantera II that's not necessarily the fastest thing on the water (mid-upper 60s), but it's one of the driest, most comfortable boats I've ever been in.
bass cat is the slickest out there to me, hurts my heart to hear the words teach your kid to FFS, they probably love it growing up kids of devices but for me as an old guy i want to teach as i learned!!
So when do we get to see the new Cat? I don't know how much faster one would want a boat to be, but upper 70's is way too much for me. Congrats on a new Cat!
I've thought about revisiting the search and it may be something I undertake next year. Most manufacturers, either because of the search or otherwise have greatly upgraded options, so they would all score somewhat better unless I just raised the bar. But it might be really fun to do with no intention of changing boats, just to review, especially with the new boats to market...
@@KenSmithFishing i’m liking the looks of that new caracal and would be interested in hearing your thoughts on that. I like the deck, layout much better than a puma.
Ken Were you not fishing with 2 garmins on the bow and different modes? ( could be wrong ) Boat Review: can u follow your guidelines and regrade the bass cat? (Now that you have own the boat for a year)Failures?bolts , falling off, switches, boxes, etc. Thanks as always Great looking ship! would love to own it
Alan, yes I did, but the second Garmin was a borrowed unit, so I didn't own it to sell with and frankly not sure I'll do that again. If I regraded the boat it would actually go up, it was faster than I thought, and a better rough water boat than I thought. The build has been amazing, the only thing that went wrong with the boat is one of the retractable rod holders just failed, so I just spent $27 on a new one because it was out of warranty, and the new boats have a different style. Unlike some unmentioned previous brands I've owned no rub-rail issues, no edge of carpet issues, no bolts and screws falling out, and most importantly no dang electronic control pad failures. I'm not trying to be a Cat homeboy, and frankly I have been approached by some other brands and you can probably imagine what a coup it might have been for me to change brands after one Bass Cat, but I did this search to find the best boat I could find, not the best boat deal and that's, in my opinion, what I found....so I ordered another Bass Cat
Before I email you sir, is there a marina around there that sells a different brand of motor?? Also I know it handles well in big water but does it ride as good as let’s say your Ranger? Don’t care about speed I want comfort. Hope all is well with the family Ken!
Paul, I've swapped boats at least every 2 years for many years. If you can get in them right you can do that without getting too far into your pocketbook.
The Lynx is currently "not available", I think Rick may be tinkering again like he did in 2020, so I am going to try the Puma STS, but if the Lynx were currently available I would have ordered another.
Yep I bought my house and an acre for 30 K. Now a truck costs twice that too. This boat really is a great deal and fine as wine. If I win the lottery I’m headed that way but I’m sure it’s sold already.
I'm looking forward to seeing your new boat. I am interested in that model also. Mostly, how many rods can hold BC & spinning. And if the lockers are truly waterproof. I hope it's everything we both think it is. Ha.
