Nice video! That looks like a cool area to go exploring. By the way, the concrete blocks @2:55 look like baffle blocks. They're used to slow down the water and prevent it from eroding the riverbed downstream of the dam. I think you can see them in the old picture @7:59 too. Pretty cool stuff!
That's kind of what I'm waiting for! I think it'd be cool to see it at full force, hopefully after winter it will fill up, or maybe we will get lucky next monsoon season. Haven't fished there but I imagine it'd be fun! Pretty neat area! Especially the bridge further up the road!
Sure thing! So if your in Roosevelt lake, AZ take the turn off for highway 288 " the one that takes you to young, az" the turn off to get here, which is a left turn, is about a half a mile before the bridge 👍
Much apreesh!.....I found this website when I was putting this video together and it had an article that talked about how there is a bunch of Easter eggs hidden around Roosevelt lake from the time construction on the dams was being done out there.....I'll have to find it. It showed old machinery, canals, bridges and what not.
I lived in globe Arizona for 2 years when I was young. In 1978 or so there was a tragic accident here. A group of kids went over these falls in a raft and they all perished. This was during the monsoon season and the river was really high. Caught lots of catfish there
Dang....that's tragic, I could see how they could be dangerous though, especially during monsoon season when the currents are strong and then having this big rock solid dam here and all the rocks below, yea I would wanna be on that river during that.....thank you for sharing!
Hello there I just wanted tell you I was there when that accident happened. I was fishing with my uncle down river .12 or 13 girls were rafting and know about the intake that's we call the diversion dam one girl made it out only because a man went in and got her . They were all tired to the two raffs and back then there was no steps eather it was a water fall and that bridge about two miles up the water was ten feet below it the next morning we watched a helicopter with a hook pull the faffs out they were still tired together and stuck in that churning water at the diversion. I was there when 2 other people lost there lives there . Great video it's still a beautiful place .
Nice dam video!
Hey thanks! I appreciate it!

I used to fish there a lot. I’ve seen the River flood heavy in that area during winter run off and summer monsoons. Pretty cool video!

Fantastic drone footage! And really cool to see what it originally looked like way back in the day. Really fun stuff. Keep it up 👍
Much apreesh!!! Thanks!
You should do another one now that its overfilled!😮
Ironically enough, I did! Editing that video right as we speak, hoping to have it up in the next couple days
As a child in the 50s and 60s, going to what we called the Intake, I was told those concrete blocks in the river helped control erosion.
Thank you for sharing!
Hello could you tell us what exit did take. ?
Sure thing! So if your in Roosevelt lake, AZ take the turn off for highway 288 " the one that takes you to young, az" the turn off to get here, which is a left turn, is about a half a mile before the bridge 👍
The steps on the spillway might be termed a Weir. Prevents high speed water undercutting the downstream face from the riverbed.
Thank you for the info 👍
Where is this located? We are taking our Razors to the East side of Roosevelt tomorrow.
here is the coordinates! 33.62509487278468, -110.93483861906712 have fun! its also referred to as "Upper Salt River Recreation Site" easy to find!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Thank you for your speedy reply. We're getting everything together to go this morning.
Right on! Enjoy! 👍
There is a tunnel near school house point, It used to be where they diverted the water to for slowing it down while building the main dam.
Tunnel you say! Is it still accessible?
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 you can go to it but it is blocked off. As you go down school house point road near the last parking spot to the right.
