I rode my 10 speed bike over Independence Pass back in 1974. It took over a half day to reach the summit coming from Aspen. It took about an hour to get to Twin Lakes from the top of the pass.
We spent 2 months in Buena Vista back in '21. Of course, we went to Twin Lakes and drove Independence Pass to Aspen for my wife's birthday. Such a beautiful drive!
Lived in Leadville for almost 10 years (123 W. 8th St.). We moved to the suburbs of Denver (long story). Now I'm on the eastern plains of Colorado (another long story). I miss Leadville every day. And the woman I shared my life with up there.
You can't go wrong with Colorado! I'm a HUGE outdoor fan (retired and playing outside full time), and moved here after almost 30 years in N. Calif. I've been out here 12 years now, and absolutely love the state (and all of the other nearby states to play in!)
I visited Colorado many years ago, and along with the incredible beauty of the place, what impressed me the most were the railed fishing platforms on lakes and rivers that allowed disabled people to fish. I thought, wow beautiful and kind.
Not sure if I ever told this story: when in Leadville we went south to Twin Lakes, then up over the Continental Divide and down into Aspen. What a trip ! Also in Leadville - their awesome awesome mining museum !
My wife, Aussie girl dog & I just hiked this area as we do a few times every year! You just missed the peak of the aspens changing. It is a glorious & sacred piece World for us. Lots of miles here for us & our past 4 leggers.
I'm with you Catherine! I love little mountain towns & wonder why I didn't settle down in one. The beauty there is breathtaking, thank you four videos! Happy travels!
I live in Loveland, CO and just spent the weekend in the Rockies.....love Twin Lakes. And yes, Colorado is one of the most beautiful states in the US....along with Utah, in my opinion. Wonderful video.
Hello, I really enjoy the incredible view while you're driving! The changing colors and the shadows across the landscape are so calming. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, Catherine and Joey Another stunning, beautiful video. Colorado is so beautiful. Can see how you would want to settle down there. Looking forward to your next adventure. Thanks for taking us along. Be safe.😊😊
The most important part to me while watching a video is the a history Lesson .Cat you do a wonderful job doing that. CO is beautiful. We drove through in 2023 to visit a friend on the way to South Dakota. Thank you for all your hard work❤️
Loved it! Gorgeous views here in Colorado in autumn! I am blessed to be a native of Colorado❤️! Enjoy your channel every Sunday...You take us to places we cannot go...thank you✌🏼
Cat you always come up with great places to explore. It’s such a treat to see what’s coming next. We’re glad you haven’t tired of traveling and the editing work that follows. As always, thank you for taking us along. ❤️
... Loved this video ,, Colorado was my home for over 60 years ,, but after trucking the country and more with plans to retire ,,I just couldn't afford the dream ... I have spent some time around Leadville area as fishing the high country was a huge passion of mine and that area has some awesome alpine lakes ..... Always enjoyed the small town experiences .. Wow !! Didn't know Leadville had the lawlessness described but I imagine all the towns near the gold and silver riches were that way ... Certainly can't beat the beauty of fall in Colorado mountains ,, and a couple of choice swimming holes shown along the rivers and waterfalls ... With winter coming I guess we'll have to wait and see where you are destined .... Stay Safe ...
Independence Pass. I lived in the Flathead Valley of Montana in my 20s and had believed it was "God's Country" too. My maturity in my old age, reveals IT doesn't have any borders. Best to Joey and you, from New Mexico.
such glorious videography! you make me feel even more confident in my decision to relocate to CO over 2 years ago. I see more of CO thru your videos than I have on my own. Age creeps up fast, thanks for sharing your adventures, you certainly excel in all you do! 🥰🥰 Have a lovely week🥰🥰
Thank you for sharing some of my favorite places in my home state of Colorado! You have had beautiful fall weather with very little snow which isn't always the case. I've experienced snow as early as Labor Day and as late Memorial Day in the Denver area. In the Rockies, I have experienced snow on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park in mid-July. May you always have safe travels.❤
Having my coffee this morning and watching you on Starlink from one of my old trailers while out in the middle of nowhere Nevada at a hot spring. Heading to the eastern Sierra today. I think Leadville was my favorite non-resort town in CO.
Absolutely beautiful, my father worked in Leadville on research on elevation and helicopter performance. He liked to mention the old silver town high in the Rockies.
Hello and good Sunday morning to you and Joey! Colorado is spectacular and so charming. Loved the grottos, all the fall colors on your route ....just beautiful! Why would you ever want to leave there? It's just so quaint and beautifully charming with so much history. Thanks for sharing this lovely place and series of videos in the beautiful state of Colorado!! Let's see where you end up next? Until then be well and safe! 😺💕👍
One of the first places I went camping in 1995 in Colorado when camp sites were $4 - $7 a night. We had a spot just above Lake Creek and the sound of the cascading water was wonderful. Summers are mild and aspen groves are plentiful. it was so quiet in those groves we could hear the leaves bouncing off each other in the breeze.
I’m a direct descendant of the Hayden Ranch family on my mothers side . They dispersed to Aspen , Carbondale and Colorado Springs where my grandmother 1898 and her 3 older brothers were born. Upon the passing of her father, a dentist. They pulled up stakes and all moved to Santa Barbara where she met my grandfather. Both my mother’s side and my father’s side arrived in Massachusetts Bay in the 1630’s and we have most of our history written down and added to by those that followed. I have the Hayden family bible with all the generations names in it . Very trippy. On the passing of my mother 2020 and my brother 2023 and at 72 and no kids I’m the last leaf on that branch . Never been to Leadville, maybe it’s time. Thanks for the ride ☮️
Weather looks good the next 10 days. It’s in the discussion. Thanks for the prompt. And of course Cat & Joey for bringing us their adventure’s into our homes.
Cannot wait to watch this video. My family and I were gonna go there this summer but things came up. We were going to go from Rocky Mountain national Park to Leadville through Trail Ridge Road. Hopefully we can still do that trip sometime
Thank you for sharing. Leadville and Twin Lakes are two places we haven’t explored. We made Colorado home and we’re not leaving. Montrose puts us close both the mountains and the canyons of Utah. Health care is good here and as older adventurers that is a consideration. Grand Junction is an easy drive so we’re in a pretty good spot. Some things to think about. In the meantime maybe it will cool down to make Utah adventures bearable. Travel safely!😀👍
I owned my first house in Leadville 20 years ago...! Many of the houses in town are listed as being built in 1888 because the was a fire in the courthouse that year and all of the records were lost - my home was an "1888" house :)
Good Sunday Morning 🌄 That sure is a gorgeous part of Colorado you are taking us to. Thank You for sharing your travels. Stay Safe, keep posting and I'll keep watching 🙏👍🐕🦺
Good morning Catherine 🙏 I was working on my vintage RV yesterday .. a little at a time so I can get out there do more miniature plein air paintings of what inspires me❤ I am always looking for more beauty in the landscape around me. Here in oregon the autumn 🍂 colors are coming into their richness now. Today I will set up by the river and capture the reflection in the water ..thanks again for your adventurous inspirational spirit🎉 so much like me!
These Colorado videos have been gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this area. We were in Leadville in September 2023 and really enjoyed that area; it would be nice to return. 👋👋
My home country; great to see you up there Catherine. I was lucky enough to grow up climbing those peaks and prospecting for gold with my dad as a kid. I believe that Catherine has absolutely the most beautiful, uplifting channel on TH-cam. Incredible what she has put together and how she inspires.
Superior work as always Catherine! So enjoyed the beautiful Colorado videos you have produced. Love those wonderful old towns with real down to earth good people, fantastic scenery everywhere you look. Wish I could be there, somewhere in the West! Have a wonderful, fun, safe week!
one of my favorite drives is hwy 12 through La Veta Co to Stonewall CO. Another drive ( since your headed southish) is Hwy 64 out of Raton NM through to Taos( frankly Hwy 64 to tierra amarilla and then down Hwy 84 at Tierra Amarilla to Santa Fe)
Beautiful video and audio. And weather! You must certainly be acclimatized to the altitude by now. The roads, the towns, the grotto, the landscapes - wow!
Cat... very nice. Looked like there was still quite a bit of color on the slopes. Twin Lakes is a very special place for me. I've spent a lot of time there through the years. Leadville has been ground zero for many adventures. I think Colorado would be a perfect place for you to call home someday. Maybe not at 10,000 ft. They do get a fair amount of snow up there. And I know what you say about winters. Awesome video today. Be safe when you're traveling sweetheart. See ya, bye. ❤🎹
The landscape is really nice. The history of some towns is...'disturbing' It really was the wild west 🤣 I'm glad you were able to get out of town without a posse on your tail ☺
Love the Colorado videos but everywhere you decide to visit always has fantastic views & history. Sad to see the ghost towns where once people lived & thrived. Looking forward to the next adventure you two get in to. ❤😊
I was in Leadville decades ago. Slept overnight and was planning to go through Climax and hit I-70. Unfortunately, it snowed so had to go back down to US 50 and continue eastward that way. Colorado has so many great old mining towns. My favorites are Ouray and Lake City.
Hi Catherine-Did you see info in Leadville about our fav sister, the “unsinkable Molly Brown”who moved there at 19, met her hubby, invested in the mining company there, then struck it rich. She was always an advocate for women , their right to vote, and definitely a force to be reckoned with:)
Girl you need to learn how to fly fish ! There is nothing like fresh mountain Trout for breakfast, and there is no place like beautiful Colorado. I’m so proud of my state and all it has to offer. Don’t be a stranger Catherine ! There is a lot more too see and share !
Cat, you always find the best, free, camping spots. I hope that I will be able to find these types of sites too when I start living in a camper full-time. 🙂
Another great video! You played my favorite music at the grottos and on the road right afterwards. Its been great enjoying Colorado this fall through your eyes. I am in Florida looking at a second hurricane in about 2 weeks😢
I was fortunate to see the lakes, 4 wheeled to Aspen, stayed in Leadville a week. Then got on a plane and flew to Little Rock Ar. Wish I would have stayed. Long time ago. Be safe.
Did you ever think you’d be saying the weather is hot in the high mountains in October? Summer is not moving on quietly this year. Least you’re saving on propane. Enjoy!
Hi Catherine, I always look foreward to your videos, Colorado is absolutely gorgeous! Love the fall colors, we in northern cali are still dealing with 102+ temps, can't wait for winter!!
Always a delight to start my Sundays with you, Catherine. Be safe, have fun, and we'll see you in the next video!
Exactly!! 😊
I really love these small mountain towns. Rich histories and beautiful sceneries make your videos fun to watch. Thanks always Cat...
Colorado is beautiful.
Met my wife just north of Buena Vista at Trail West, a beautiful Young Life Property. Love it.

Very few things make me happier on a Sunday morning than a fresh brewed cup of coffee and a new Cat Gregory video. . . 😊
I'm with you Catherine! I love little mountain towns & wonder why I didn't settle down in one. The beauty there is breathtaking, thank you four videos! Happy travels!
I haven’t been in Leadville in years. Glad Joey is back traveling with you again. Miss his TH-cam channel.
