    I’ve got the same setup 😊 a5+ wireless + s8 subwoofer. Been using it for the last 5 odd years and still going strong 💪

    I purchased the A5+ and the S8 subwoofer based on this (and other) reviews, and I can honestly say that they are an amazing experience for a Gaming System / Music setup. I would almost buy another set for my TV however I think the lack of a center speaker for watching movies on might be a drawback.

    Hi, I'm thinking about buying A5+, do they have audible floor noise when listening from close distance (desktop use)? I'm asking because I bought recently debut connex speakers but I couldn't stand the hiss and had to return them. And do they remember volume settings when they are turned off?

    • @MovieUniversity
      @MovieUniversity  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no noise from them when the power is cut.
      When you mean floor noise, are you referring to sound traveling over the surface of the desk?

      @@MovieUniversity I had in mind a noise made by the speakers when they're turned on but nothing is playing. All active speakers have it. Thx for replying, finally I bought other speakers (edifier s2000mkIII).

      @@MarkamPL There is virtually no hum or hiss, even when turned up to max volume and nothing is playing. One of the reviewers said it was specifically designed to reduce any hum or noise from the power supply.

      @@MarkamPL I think the term you were looking for is "noise floor."

    Offcenter tweeter is modern looking not dated. You've got it backwards.

    No headphone jack? That's kind of an error?

    • @MovieUniversity
      @MovieUniversity  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is it though? I haven't seen a desktop or laptop come without a headphone jack before.

    • @blucat4
      @blucat4 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MovieUniversity Yes because the headphone jack on many PCs (like the one shown here) is at the back and really hard to get at. You usually have to slide the PC around which means moving the monitor out of the way and pushing other stuff out of the way etc. So every time you want to swap between the powered speakers and the headphones you have to do this annoying shuffle. On some PCs it's so out of the way that you need a torch to see it properly, which you have to hold in your mouth while you swap plugs. It is really much better to have the headphone jack on the speakers, like the Pioneer or the Presonus or Logitech etc do, so you just plug the headphones in. See? 🙂
      It is for precisely this reason that I didn't buy these and bought the Presonus, which is a shame because these are better in every other way ..

      @@blucat4 literally just go buy a DAC if having headphone access on a speaker is so important.. or get a better pc case.. every computer I build had headphone jacks easily accessible right on the front of the case

    • @blucat4
      @blucat4 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@makniflheim8959 How will a DAC help me? The output of the PC is analogue only, not digital. In any case it's another bit of gear on the desk. I could just put an amp there if I had that much room, that's the point of these speakers, no other equipment required, small footprint. As to 'get a better PC case', yeah good solution. Or just buy speakers with the headphone jack, which I did.

    • @makniflheim8959

      @@blucat4 Right but as you said the a5+ are superior in every other way and you're really costing yourself incredible audio quality for a headphone jack. The audioengine D1 DAC is so tiny that you wouldn't even notice it on your desk, and fairly cheap too. And it has a headphone jack. Just something to consider if you ever wanted to upgrade or switch it up.

    You didnt talk about the price at all, all you said was they are affordable. Also no sound demo of any kind, makes me think these have the same quality as that dudes Zoom call setup. 😀 Love your channel though, keep up the good work.
