There was a sketch within "Chewin' the Fat" that was old geezers in a pub singing rather innapropriate songs that sketch was fleshed out and made into a sitcom called "Still Game" were all these actors played old people. The basic gist to "Still Game" is two old age pensioners (Jack and Victor ) and their shenanigans with ,as I said, all the actors from Chewin the fat as other oldies. SG is well worth a watch. I'm a 60 year old man and I cried at the ending of series (I think it was)10 .

i actually lived in scotland when in the air force and one night someone said still game was on and all the jocks were like we got to watch it,, id never heard of it so i asked them what it was about,, about these old fellas they said,, well i had no choice as they were watching it,,, surprisingly it was very funny,, so i became indoctrinated,,, into the still game cult,,, and now most of my english family and friends are fellow cult members too,,, the mad thing is it was only really popular in scotland when it should have been main stream as father ted or only fools and horses etc across the uk,,, my very very posh 89 year old aunt went to stay in glasgow on a saga break,,, and i went round to visit her when she got back and she said to me did i know of the programme with the funny little old men,,, i knew what it was so i bought her the complete boxed set and she just loved it,, even this christmas we watched as a family lots of the episodes,,, and thats the thing you can watch it as a family across all ages and its funny to all not many shows can do that,,, 9 series i think and very very few average episodes,,, is tantamount to some very very decent and clever writing
Ronald Villiers is by far the best chewin the fact character. Disappointed you didn't get much of him in this montage. Definitely check those sketches.
Rev Goodchild getting accidently drunk is one of the funniest sketches that I've ever seen. Still watch it every now and then. Rikki was brilliant. Hogmanay was never the same without Scotch & Wry.

Although the storyline doesn't continue on to each episode, you still get references or characters showing up in later series, which requires them to be watched in the correct order to get the full context. So still best to watch them in the correct order.
this where Still game started - easily the best sitcom out of Scotland ! BUT - you really have to start at the beginning and watch whole episodes, otherwise you miss the best of it ! AND it gets better as it develops ? When you see Alan and Bob as two seventy something seniors who have retired disgracefully you will love it !
Jack and Victor are nothing like Alan and Bob, they're 100× funnier, this was a crap compilation, all Bob and Alan and Big Jock 😒 no Ronald Villiers, no old guys (still game cast) singing songs in the pub, no Bish and Bosh decorator guys, no 'banter boys', no Betty with her filthy stories, no Rab Mcglinchy. This is the worst chewin the fat compilation I've seen.

And the only reason I said Alan and Bob are nothing like Jack and Victor is because for someone who doesn't know these shows, could be expecting the same 2 characters with the fake teeth and annoying patter, when Jack and Victor are so much more.
Go straight to still game. Watch full episodes and i guarantee after the first 3 episodes you will be hooked and half to watch the whole lot. Best comedy ive ever seen. I only discovered it my self 2021 and since watched complete seasons 5 times. I now watch reaction to it

You would be best to watch the first episode of still game and I'm sure you guys would love it. It's been watched by every Scot at least twice. Side splitting comedy and a great way to tune in to our accent
2 salesmen are both in still game. Each episode is stand alone and really good. My favourite was Methadone Mick and the job interview, although they are all fabulous 😅

Another brilliant comedy series that got it's first start on BBC Radio, like Little Britain did. While other comedy TV series got remade as radio programs. Good to listen to on long car journeys.

Chewin the Fat was a sketch show. It had some regular characters who were later developed in to the sit com Still Game. Chewin the Fat is by far better for your purposes, but you can still watch Still Game.
Seen about 3 reaction channels doing still game, only saw 1 of them totally get it , seemed to understand the jokes , the accent and the patter, and they laughed at the right places, others sat their watching it not raising an eyebrow then it was yeah thats still game , like and subscribe, Its one of that shows were you have to have a bit of humour about you, not just sit there miss a joke or shake your head because you don't like a joke which you did at some of the inbetweeners patter, People watching the reaction videos totally know if the reactor likes or dislike a show because the reaction to whats on screen is literally in front of us.

Funny how us Scots can understand every American and english dialect because we see them on TV all the time, but our shows still are rarely shown in England because 'they can't understand' 😞 boo fkn hoo, maybe if our accent was normalised and shown on telly more, it wouldn't be so hard for people. Like Limmys Show, he didn't get a 3rd series because the BBC decided his accent was too hard for English ears 😒

Aw, no Lighthouse Keepers. A definite yes to Still Game & do try Rikki Fulton as the Rev I.M.Jolly & Rev. Goodchild - classic Scottish comedy.

Still Game is acted by the same people as Chewing the Fat imo it’s funnier. I think the main two characters in Still Game came from the sketch show.
