    The last person to finish the marathon, karunananda. a sri lankan... when everyone quit after a while karunananda kept going... the announcer kept telling him to quit.but he kept going on.the impatient crowd started throwing things at him and booing him.he went on... and he finished. the same crowd gave him standing ovation.
    There is a lesson about karunananda in japanese 5th grade book.as the courageous man who never gave up.Its not about what place you got.its about finishing what you started

      +Pawani Madushani Ah, but that doesn't quite square up since the marathon is run in the streets, it's not possible that the same people who were throwing stuff at him before would then be in the stadium at the end. I believe you mean the 10K meters.

      Pawani, I guess you are writing about "10,000m". Then, it makes sence.

    Every time I watch this 10000 meters race, especially at the end, I’m brought to tears. And I’m amazed by the power displayed in his final sprint. On the “Wings of an Eagle”.

    When did they change the 80m hurdles to 110m hurdles?

    • @bumblebeemoi
      @bumblebeemoi 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt Choge 80M? It's always been 110.

    • @mattchoge686
      @mattchoge686 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since the start of modern Olympics in 1896 ( Athens), men's hurdles has been 110M. The women's hurdles was 80M from 1932 to 1968 ( Mexico city), then changed to 100M in Munich'72.
