I consider this their most beautiful song. And Chris Squire’s harmonies to Jon’s voice were always perfect and so distinctive. You can tell it’s Chris right away. Lovely song.
As a Yes and Renaissance fan i also love both versions. In this version i especially also like the electric guitar runs and somehow i whised there would be third version with Annies voice over the music of this version. But whatever, both are beautiful 😍😍
Like all great music, this track bears listening to time after time until every note is familiar, but it is never boring to come back to time after time. I'm glad you discovered YES too, they hold a sacred place in my heart.
Whenever I die, I hope this song will be played at my funeral. I have never been engaged or married, but the lyrics and the music move me, and remind me of the women I fell in love with, love that transcends time and place. And the love for all the people close to my heart.
You have been listening to so much other musicians and other bands that you forgot about the Band that makes you cry....that made you cry and the band you feel in love with.....don't deprive yourself of the Love and spiritual energy they give you every time you listen to them!😊😊😊😊
Of all the times Jon has sung like an angel, this has to one of the very best. Steve's acoustic guitar is so wonderfully sensitive in combination, and then Rick comes in and it soars. To have this, and Awaken, and Parallels on one album - incredible.
I can understand why you're saying that, and you're not wrong. I think Jon's voice was good on every album, but sounded differently. Especially on this song Jon evolved his singing not as a side instrument, but as the heart of the song. Personally I liked his voice on Relayer better as it sounded a bit fuller like with soon.
@@leovanlierop4580 The only knock, ONLY knock I have with the album _Going for the One_ was the overuse of reverb. And that's purely from the production side of things. Otherwise, it is the perfect Yes album.
‘Turn of the Century’ is one of the finest twentieth-century compositions of any genre. If you have yet to experience the epic final track ‘Awaken’ from the same LP, please listen.
Stunning piece of music from the absolute masters...back then I thought they could nt have bettered And You and I.....I was wrong ..first time I listened to Going for the One I was mesmerised
Pure magic, all vocals and instruments perfectly merged together, as often happens in Yes music. In this case few notes can create a dramatic scenario.
Here is another very good YES song you haven't done yet. "In the Presence of". Good live version here: th-cam.com/video/X_KDXoMB5wg/w-d-xo.html It's very spiritual.
As a musician do you listen to the music first and then go back to the lyrics? Or, do you listen to the whole thing first and then go back to, sort of, put the track into the music, then the lyrics - I'm interested to learn how you dissect a track
Wait… i feel like ur saying that the version u first heard with Steve Howe and a vocalist is comparable to this. I respect that you don’t want to disrespect or discredit the other band but are you really saying that the two versions are comparable?? If so, i completely respect your opinion. Can you please post a link to the comparable version? I think the fans would love to hear it as we respect your opinion

This is not a version it’s the original, anything else is a copy.
One of the most Beautiful songs YES has ever created or composed. Just magnificent. A MASTERPIECE!!!!!

46 years later and it still turns me to mush. Nice Reaction.
I think the build and climax are Rick and Steves single greatest moment together in this band. This one leaves me sobbing every time.
I remember buying this album when it was first released. It's still a big favourite, Yes at their finest.
❤❤❤One of my all-time favorite songs of YES!!!!❤❤❤❤

This album might be the pennical of 70's progressive music.
Nobody does it better than the greatest band there ever was or ever will be!🤩
Droit au coeur

Yes and Renaissance. My 2 favourite bands.

Great reaction👍👍
Yes version all the way.

My favorite Steve Howe track, i’ve been suggesting this to you for a while now!
Yes, best band ever ¡¡¡¡
This version is the most Masterpiece version....not even Steve Howe can duplicate this version!!! This was masterful!!!! 😊
Annie Haslam is the singer from Renaissance
YES never disappoints 😞 😊

The worst album cover , best album ever.
Looks like Empire State Plaza in Albany, so I related to the cover rightaway.
steve howe is the best guitarist ever
It is really annoying listening to these great songs in MONO...
