How do I make it stay on all the time when not installing a switch?

You can hard wire it without a switch if you like. Some run a dedicated circuit to the panel so you can use the breaker to shut it off in the future.

What about old work or replacing an existing fan?

We use these to replace old bath fans all of the time. The new fans might be slightly larger than the old undersized and noisy fans so keep that in mind.

You can get a voc sensor that attached to the wall through the Swidget lines. The motion sensor implies that fresh air is needed so it is redundant
