Great reaction guys. This song and Runrig’s “Loch Lomond” are the 2 first songs to be played after the bells on New Year’s day. For something a little different you could check out Frankie Miller’s rendition. He rocks it and it’s amazing.
Voces8 are such a phenomenal ensemble. I've heard them doing this live, and it's beyond fantastic. If you like the combined choir concept, check out the one that started it all, Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir. The first one had 2,000 voice, but by #6 it was up to 17,000. There are also several performances of Eric's music by just Voces8, all beautiful.

Every single person in the entire world who headed to the new world.. this is for you.. and your ancestors.. yes it's a scottish song but the message is clear...

I think versions like this, similar to other choirs are beautiful, but they lack the personal connection that singers like Dolores Keane and Dougie Maclean can bring to the mix. I find them too pure, almost alien. Need that little bit of grit and wobble to really carry the meaning of the song across
Ya know.. at first i wasn't so keen on this rendition..truly..i dunno why..maybe because it was muted? But its actually one of my favourite renditions now.. the time it came out the fact at that time everyone felt closer... It's sorta special.. everyone did feel close during those pandemic years and i fear we are losing that again...which is sad... This reaction..the coments and the song can still bind us all.. hopefully
