  • In this video the customer gives us a rundown on the history of this 1976 Chris Craft Tournament 30 designed by Ray Hunt. This is a rare hull that was made for only one year due to a law suit filed by Bertram. We discuss diesel power plant options and begin work by removing the old engines. We also begin some delicate restoration work as we begin repairing some rotten wood on the bulkhead at the aft end of the cabin while keeping the original interior finishes intact. Stay tuned for more on this project, we plan to follow this one from driving to the hoist under power of the old gas engines, all the way through sea trials!

I love those hulls a worked on the tournament fishermen model in Florida and liked the stringers made of fiberglass. It was a better boat than a Bertram

Nice work! Do you use vinyl ester to glue/glass the bulkhead in place as well?

I thought that was a Bertram at first glance! I can’t wait to see how it runs. How much engine would it take to get a 38’ Bertram to run 30-35 knots?

Great work, Good Video. We can only hope they decide not to use a 30 year old tank. 🤔

We aren't a big fan of outdrives. We don't sell install generally. But we have done a few in very special circumstances.

At the end of the exhaust manifolds what are those white pieces. I am familiar with the engines and the manifolds. But have never seen them.

Those are 2 into 1 wet exhaust sections. They take combine the output from both manifolds and from there it goes to the muffler.

@@SeaboardMarineIncVideos ok gotcha yeah never seen those and usually that’s the place I see them rot out and then swamp a cylinder and wreck and engine happens a lot up here in Alaska.

Its much more like a 28’ Bertram than it is an old 31.
