  • Hello everyone,
Lawrie was invited down to Didcot for their Transport event, and so decided to rally a possy, and take the mighty £250 Bini.
So enjoy a walk around, and let us know in the comments what you think he gets to drive.
Big thank you to the Didcot Railway Centre for inviting us down - if you want more information about the railway centre or other events they do, check out their website: didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/
If you like what you've seen in the video and think you'd like to get involved with helping to run Didcot, then consider volunteering here:
    didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/ar...
    A video featuring:
Lawrie - Presenter, feeling slightly dubious about bringing a '04 Mini to a Heritage event.
Charles - Cameraman, wishing he could have brought his car,
Larry - Cameraman, now considering volunteering at DRC
Jay - Cameraman, enjoying bringing his Rover to a show.
    An edit by Lawrie.
Music by Alex the Hat - find his SoundCloud here - / alex-the-hat
Other audio - Vital Whales - Unicorn Heads.

Seeing even models of the broad gauge always fills me with delight, such an obscure and short lived, yet history making alteration. It really made the Great Western noticeable in the history books.

    • @srfurley
      @srfurley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Many years ago I did some of the work on the broad gauge trackwork and the platform slabs in the transfer shed. I have also ridden on that pump trolley, and it can go faster than seen here.
Didcot doesn't look the same without the 'A' power station, but a small part of it still remains, the OCGT (Open Cycle Gas Turbine) station, served by the small blue-topped chimney. This is a small 100 MW station with four sets, each having two Rolls Royce Avon engines with curved ducts leading the gases to a power turbine mounted between them and the shaft from the power turbine driving the alternator, from memory, I think through a gearbox. It used to be included on tours of the 'A' station.

If you were 'back in the day' you'd have one eye out for the Shedmaster & The transport Police for bunking the shed in the first place.
'Iron Duke' has the boiler of a NCB 'Austerity' saddletank I think was called 'Gwyneth'. It was made in 1985, so the Iron Curtain had not yet fallen & Meiningen & Olesnica were not available to make a boiler that was an accurate replica.

I wanted to know why don’t they dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so they extend the unused abandoned underground stations.
Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and remix and make them all together and also redesign them overhead line and also make them into 5 cars per unit and also having 2 Disabled Toilets on those 5 cars per unit A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into a 11 car per unit so it could have less doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers.
A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more bigger and extend it to bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into an High Speed train.
The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 8 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbish 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden.
oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily.
Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build a brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train stations in Chingford and could they extend the DLR.
All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel five carriages to disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extend doing roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains.
Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 16 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so Please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! A long time ago me and my son lived on the line side of ex-lner territory. Everyday we would hear steam engines going by, but one day was different. It was around 9:00 in the morning, and my son was looking out the window and looking for any engines. I was there and I remember. This was in 1960. Johnny then heard sounds that he had never heard before. I knew it well, but I was afraid to tell him. Motoring along coughing and spluttering, came a class 28 diesel. Johnny was very smart and came up with a rather amusing nickname. He turned to me and asked me "what's that dad? The way it smokes along like that it looks like a box of cigarettes on wheels 'That's a diesel Johnny, I replied knowingly. British railways say that they are the most up-to-date mechanisms of our time. A man known as Dr. Beeching is the one responsible for this monstrosity. They call him the Axeman because he's doing mad chopping that he calls saving money. They're intended to replace steam engines I said with a tear in my eye. "B-b-but..." He trailed off.."but he can't!" He said crying. I'm afraid so old chap, I said gravely.

I've always liked steam engines like forever, I do like diesel too, but I only like Olden Day diesels🫤. I like steam engines so much that I am even designing😀 my own it's based on a 0-6-0 steam engine
