Messages in cookbooks, I have some of my mother's and she got a church cookbook from my aunt for Christmas and it has Annis, Christmas 1964 and I got tears thinking about my amazing aunt. She was a great cook, made the best yeast rolls you ever put in your mouth. It is funny, we kinda all got tickled at her, she would dirty up every dish and pot when she cook. But that is the sign of a good cook. I find notes and phone numbers of church members that my mother knew. We used to have good recipes in our paper and she would clip out recipes. We used to have men church suppers and she would have what everyone was going to bring. All are now gone, cherished memories forever. I learned to cook from her by helping her. I love to cook, especially desserts. I always make scratch dessers, never box mixes for me. I am a diabetic and that makes it even harder. I just eat in moderation. Yall are the sweetest couple, I enjoy your videos so much. My sister loves to go to Goodwill. I told her about your cookbooks and your corning ware dish. They have a senior day in my area and she goes on those days. I talked to her awhile ago and she went one day this week, she found 2 end tables with Queen Anne legs. She has so many things and really do not have room for them but she loves to go to Goodwill. LOL I will be waiting on your Sunday chat, I enjoy them so much and start my Sunday with your chats.
You slipped this in on me today.just now finding it. My daughter spent some time with me today. Today is my birthday I turned 87 . The Lord has really been good to me. This is another receipt that I can cut down and not make it so big. God bless.
I have that same cookbook! It was gifted to me in late 1990s by a lady I worked for. I was a day nanny for her preschool aged children. It's one of my favorite cookbooks and I have dozens of them. My husband eat a lot of one-pot meals and that dinner looks delicious! I just recently ran across your channel, but I have truly enjoyed watching your videos.
After a few purchases that didn’t work out for me I made it my policy not to buy electric gadgets in thrift stores.Otherwise I love thrifting. Your meals go over very well with my family. Thank you!!
👋 kids, Oh yummmmm looking. Marie, your eyes lit up at taste test time so it must be extra good. Marie got a haircut !! Next week, I get mine colored. I might be 70 (yikes) but I dont look good with battleship gray hair. Brunette please. It's to rain for a week here 🌧 Here's to more yummy cooking coming up. 🤗 🤗
I made this last week! It was fabulous! I made stewed tomatoes and okra to go along with mine. This is a very flavorful dish! My family enjoyed it! Thank you! Can’t wait to see what I will make next!
Hey Calvin & Marie , So glad to see you both looking so well! Thanks for sharing sure looks good. Have a wonderful weekend and can’t wait till you’re next video. ❤ & Prayers

Looks really good! Thanks for sharing! I love wild rice. And yes, it used to be called ‘Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice, but it was changed recently so it was more sensitive to Black culture, like they changed Aunt Jemima products to Pearl Milling Company.
Good day Calvin and Marie, I hope your morning is going well. I'm making this recipe today it fits our budget. With the cost of food these days you have to have a budget.👌 Thank you for the recipe. ❤💕 Have a beautiful blessed day. 🦋 Much love, Rennie
Hi Calvin and Marie, lovely to be with you both again. I try all your recipes and i truely love everyone!! I'm sure going to try this one it looks yummy. Take care love to you both xx❤❤
Howdy Doody, Cal & Marie, Thanks for trying this and telling us that it tastes really good. I'm writing it down since I don't usually make wild rice casseroles even though I love wild rice and would like to try this myself. Nice of you to be so considerate and sensitive to the homeless situation over there. Bye.
I can tell I will love this casserole! I bet it will taste great as a leftover the next day. I don’t think it even needs any sides. Looks perfect to me. I’ve only had a banana today and I’m hungry so I could eat a bowl of this right now. Have a beautiful weekend. Love n hugs 🫂 ❤
Hi Marie and Calvin how are you doing ??? Marie are you feeling better ??? Iam praying for the both of you that you stay well so you can keep cooking up all these special meals. The meal your makeing now reminds me almost like a beef stew i hope it comes out for you as another meal you can love. Take Care and remember you are both loved. Gypsy From Michigan.
I just subscribed & will watch & like videos as much as I can - I enjoy your channel so much, which basically translates that I enjoy your personalities - keep on truckin' ... I mean, cookin' ... 😝
This looks like a meal my husband would like! I'm going to try this one. Also, Marie, some of this Southern Living cookbooks you bought are really good! I have one left of my Southern Living Cookbook collection. I've donated most of them to our church thrift store. The one I have left I call the big Brown Southern Living Cookbook. It's a combination of many of their recipes. I use it all the time.
Hi Calvin & Marie. I love that you tried a recipe from one of your new books and am happy that you both enjoyed the dish. Hope you have a very nice weekend. - Laura
Good evening Calvin and Marie. Enjoyed watching this video and the food looks absolutely delicious. Another must try recipe. Love your apron Marie. Have a Blessed weekend 🙏 😊.
I love one pot meals and like your pot. Too bad about the record player. I like shopping at Salvation Army because they help homeless too. There is a homeless shelter here that Salvation Army runs and they feed homeless breakfast and lunch daily. It's been nice here the last few days like spring time temps. I still have several of my bibles packed away. One is one from when I was a little girl. I have my parents big family bible that sits on my TV stand. It says it's copyright is 1966. Your meal looks good.
I subscribed to your channel, looks interesting! But I can’t watch the video now!! I make the wild rice hamburger hotdish but add organic beef broth instead of beef cubes!! I see a lot of recipes for this meal with the soy sauce. I’ve never down that before! I might have to try it this time. Your recipe was the closets to what I have made in past. Been a couple years and I love it. I was looking for what ingredients you added! I hope you had a Nice Weekend. I didn’t check it out yet, but are you guys involved with this last hurricane over in Tennessee and N Carolina? I sure hope not. Later! 🤗❤️👍🏼🙋🏻♀️
Can i have the info on this on how to make this ??? It looks so good i just have to make this for sunday supper???? Thank You for shareing this. Gypsy From Michigan.
Hi Friends, I have a countertop burner too, seems to take a long time to heat up. I have to admit it's annoying. I don't understand it, my electric frypan is very quick and toaster, every other electric appliance. It also stays hot for a long time after shut off. I'm a complainer today! LOL Deb

Looks delicious! Was it salty with the added soy sauce?
Not at all. Thanks very much
I don’t get on that often but I wonder if cream of mushroom with garlic would taste
It should be good
👋 y'all ❤️
Hey Heather!
What cook books are you talking about?
Marie bought several cookbooks while we were thrifting a couple of weeks ago.
Usually rice needs salt but good idea not to add salt by using Soy Sauce.
Yes, you are right
Sorry, a bit too gloopy for me.
It was delicious.
Add tater tots to it
Sounds great
