It called "Perestroika" , when Gorbachev decided to change ideology to Democracy.
It was so terrible time , our parents understood that everything is the worst , when Gorbachev said : "Glory to America ".
      Gorbachev is a traitor
Then Yeltsin could save USSR, but he was an alcoholic and the government was financed by America .
Then started disarmament , privatization of Russian economy , Russia was used like huge puppet with resources. There was chaos.
So , We used to be vassals of the NATO for 20 years, but when Putin came , our Country got "independent" from USA and their Economy and war in Ukraine is war between nato and Russia , but Ukraine is just like weapons testing ground.

They weren't under the rules of Russia, they were under the rule of the highest Soviet, which was composed of deputies from all the republics. Saying that the Soviet Union was under the rule of Russia is the same as saying that European Union is under the rule of Belgium. Btw, European Union is pretty close to what Karl Marx described as United States of Europe.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

When the Leader of the Soviet Union MIKHAIL GORBACHEV and President Ronald Regan became friends, the cold war thawed. The Soviet leadership no longer thought of the USA and Europe as enemies. Lithuania which was highly Industrialized wanted to leave the Soviet. Russian leadership agreed, other countries followed. Those countries decided to create their own currencies and sent the Rubles back to Russia is when the Russian economy collapsed due to hyperinflation.
The same is going to happen in the USA when nobody wants the dollar.

Not all of that is try, the other reason that is commonly known is that every one was scared of the ussr so the ussr decided to change ussr in to Russia for the hopes of being able to be allied with the other powers and to not have any more wars but everyone was scared of what would happen if they decided to attack from the end and out so they said no and Russia is know trying to rebuild because of their failed dreams

I wouldn't want him back for sure. I am a Kazakh and the USSR brought us a lot of pain: repression of our intelligentsia that tried to protect us, our scientists, the Semipalatinsk test site, and Semipalatinsk is the birthplace of many of our leaders, the famine of 1931 and 1933 that claimed the lives of 2 million of our fellow citizens, the Gulag and so on
