Your smoke tutorial is one of my favourites! Please keep up the great work, I want to see this channel as big as all the others. You got the Skill, watching the video quality and editing getting better is exciting
You seem to really enjoy painting these Nids! I guess anything is exciting if its not SM lol. Give it a couple months and Nids should have some more updated older sculpts and new ones for sure for you to enjoy. Honestly their larger monster sculpts still look pretty good but those rank and flank and specialty units are showing their age, and theres a lot of them. I guess we'll see who gets their second wave of models first between Nids or SM win GW's little battle of Oghram thingy with the codes that players can enter once they get their boxes.
Good to be back! I don't use any additives for wetblending. The dry time extension comes from using heavy amounts of paint. Check out my video, Intro To Wetblending, for a run down of my approach. Cheers!
Sam, long time hobby fella here. Been painting since the early 90s when i first fell in love w Warhams. Ive hit a rut with my painting as of late. I have not painted in about two months and just feel negative about it. I have been busy in life and have been enjoying other things such as pc gaming etc. I still love the hobby and love painting so it is a very weird feeling to just look at my studio and go "meh" My question is: Have you ever felt this way in your painting career and if so what did you do to address it. Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. PS Great paint work as always.
Thanks man! I know the feeling. I think variety keeps me going. I like to say every piece is an experiment. In your case, I think you should pick a single miniature, just paint the front for fun and see how it feels. Sometimes I put excuses in front of my painting (personally) and have found if I just sit down and start, I feel much better. You just have to jump in, like that first set in a workout. Cheers!
@SamLenzArtwork Off to ebay i go! Thankyou Sam! Your content and artwork are incredible ans inspiring inspiring. Not to blow smoke up your arse, but I believe in thanking those that have a positive effect on our lives. So Thankyou Mr. Lenz.
Enjoyed the band references as much as the painting. I do like a bit of wet blending.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This encourages me to go visit some grey plastic tonight.
Thanks for coming back to TH-cam Sam!
Glad to hear that. Many thanks :)

Thank you for saying that. I'm going for it, now that I'm better with tech. Onwards and upwards!
The effects all look fantastic. You definitely make it look easy, and in a way that makes me want to try them.
You can do it!
The greatest video intro of all time.
lol, rough start!
Thank you for supporting BOLT THROWER!!!!!
For victory!
Tyranids probably would have Carcass playing in the background while they consume biomass...

Yup! I picked it up at a fest a few weeks back.
great video as always man! I've been loving seeing you back.

AWWW yeah man! thanks for the lesson in special effects!
You're welcome!
Beautiful
Nice Carcass reference ;)
Awwyeah 😎
Sam Lenz built my hotrod.
Yeah buddy 😎
Gorgeous as always Same, is that P3 Eldritch that you used for the emerald effects?
Thanks! It was Emerald from Vallejo Model Color. Beautiful stuff!
I love it. But given the model's stance, isn't it some sort of fluid expulsion? I feel like if it was smoke it would be rising at the tips.
...I'm going to throw this model in the trash.
