Looking back 40 yers ago, I saw John & Yoko at small town called Karuizawa in Japan. I remember that John was enjoyed for walking street beside Yoko. Fact is John was happy for his life with Yoko.
Yoko was a mother figure to him, he used to refer to her as "mother". McCartney said cynthia wasn't a strong woman, i don't think that's true. She became a single mother who raised and provided for julian after john left. Cynthia may not have been domineering like yoko and johns aunt mimi, but that doesn't mean she was not a strong woman.
Of course, A single mom always struggling to raised her child so I think she was not weak.John say he need a strong woman but I think it's just a excuse actually he need Yoko for drug addiction.
Hopefully Cybthia was a mother figure to her (and john's) son. And I think that is the real strenght: raising her child alone. But some people relate being strong as being a dominatrix and this is superficial strenght.

You took Paul's comments way too literally. He meant "strong woman" as in "a woman who is independent and has her own identity outside of the relationship." Cynthia told Paul she just wanted a "pipe and slippers" life with John but Paul knew that wouldn't be possible.
I hate when people say john only married cynthia bc he got her pregnant. His sister did a really great interview saying she was there when john Met with his aunts who told him not to marry cynthia & he did not have to over & over. He charged around the room so all of them got the message " what is wrong with you people cant u see I want to marry her. I was going to marry her anyway we are just doing it sooner I love her. " & left the house. So his sister saw this first hand. He also dated her for 4 years b4 cynthia got pregnant. This was not a one night stand. Yea he cheated in Hamburg as they all did but he did come back to her & did write her letters that I've seen. Paul dumped his first gf dot rhone bc he wanted to be free . John could have done the same but didnt. Yes it's wrong he cheated but he had strong enough love for cynthia he did not dump her. He was a young highly sexual person & had one nighters in Germany. Also he married cynthia even when the Beatles were taking off & was fine with the secret marriage & baby coming out. The fans loved cynthia. I honestly believe when john got heavily into acid is when john " left " cynthia. Yoko also worked very hard to get john & used his love for drugs to do it even bringing heroin along the hardest drug out there. Um where did john say cynthia refused to use protection?? Cynthia does not seem the trapping type & is a too nice person. In her book she said she & john knew where babies came from but both were uneducated about contraception. I'm guessing only condoms were around . There was no birth control pill in the 60s. John must have had a low sperm count bc cynthia said they never used protection the 4 years they dated so it's a miracle she did not get pregnant much sooner. Also at one point john told cynthia he wanted a bigger family & have at least 3 more kids but it just never happened. I know he & yoko tried hard for years & I'm convinced that while john was with may she found some fertility dr overseas & was taking fertility drugs that were not approved yet in the us. In 1975 when she got pregnant with sean she was 43. In her 30s she had problems keeping a pregnancy or getting pregnant at all & then a month or two after she got john home boom she gets pregnant finally ? & Carrie's to term bc medicine had advanced. Still out of all the women john slept with theirs no lennon babies out there. Marlon brando had like 16 kids & payed for 15 abortions bc he was screwing his brains out like john. Why did john only have 2 kids & marlon had over 30 pregnancies & all those children. In his advanced age being u healthy & like 350 lbs he made 3 kids with his cleaning lady. Back to yoko she was always looking for medicines in the east so since America was less than 10 years away from the first " test tube " babies known now as IVF I totally believe she had john come back bc she wanted to have his child no matter what. Many say she was done with john when she sent him off to l.a. with may pang. May tells a story that yoko suddenly was on fire for john to come home & said she found hypnosis to get him to stop smoking. He came back to may very different told her yoko had him drink some tea & he was puking for days. Then just like cynthia he just was so cruel to may. Elton john had a party & john showed up cursing her out & tried to attack her pysically that elton made him leave. It's interesting that the 3 people who had the best influence on john cynthia paul & may once he got with yoko he hated them & cut them off. She was such a horrible influence on him. She reminds me of an abusive spouse who seperated u from ur family & friends. She told john he was not allowed to speak to julian anymore & he agreed ! 4 years went by with zero contact with father & son. Same with cynthia who he should have co parented with & paul his closest friend since they were kids. When he was with may he got julian & cynthia over. SHe actually had a nice talk with him. Before that he refused to even see her. I think bc he felt guilt. He & paul Also connected again. Then when he went back to yoko she intercepted calls from julian paul & his sister Julia baird. It's like she tried to pretend John's life started when he met her. Julia John's sister said she just cant understand her. But she blames him no matter what yoko said that he abandoned julian. John was so hurt by his dad leaving him that she did not get how he could treat his son the same way. How bout the 100 thousand pounds trust fund for julian that was peanuts compared to the multi millions he & yoko enjoyed. Theur was a clause that if john had any more kids the trust fund would be divided which is absurd. The trust fund should only have been for julian . Then when sean was born it was cut in half!! Sean was being raised a millionaire. Cynthia I guess didnt get child support she was to only use the interest on Julian's trust fund to take care of him. When sean was born the interest was half. Then when she did need to draw on the interest she needed John's signature. So it would take days as he lived in America & whenever he got around to signing off. I cant understand treating ur first love first wife & mother of ur child so awful & the way he treated julian is inexcusable. I dont care of yoko said no to julian john should have told her f off hes my son.
Also as soon as she could after john died she took away the homes john bought for his aunt mimi & sister julia bc they were in apples name which now belonged to yoko. She did not need the money in fact she donated the two homes to the salvation army. She also followed Paul around first when he told her get lost & she went after john who did think she was a nut. After sean was born yoko lost all interest in john. She now had a child by him so she would always be attached to him. She wanted to divorce john take half & marry a guy she was sleeping with named sam green. Sam turned her down. Julian visited in the summer in 77 & 79 & said john was not the house husband & super dad that they portrayed to the media. He said yoko was never around . John just stayed in his room & chain smoked watching the news. Yoko was an insomniac on the phone all hours so she wasnt even sleeping in bed with john she stayed in another apt in the Dakota. He also barely interacted with sean , the nanny took care of him.
The pill did exist in the 60s. In the States you had to be married to get a perscription for pills or get a diaphragm. I don't know about Britian.

I think that a lot of people who weren’t alive when John Lennon was, want to see him as angelic and soft and sweet. Someone incapable of any wrongdoing. Contrary to the belief that John just fell in love with Yoko as soon as he met her and then they lived a fairytale life together, actually John wanted nothing to do with Yoko at first.
She had to wage quite a determined campaign just to get him to sleep with her, and even then, for a year she was just the side chick trying to get a toehold in his life by feeding him drugs and stalking him at his marital home, and at work. She'd just show up at his work and most of the time he'd refuse to see her so she'd hang around outside, hide behind a car, then ambush him when he was leaving, pretending to just accidentally be running into him. Extremely devious.
She'd go to his and Cynthia's home and just hang around outside. Once it was raining so hard Cynthia took pity on her and invited her in. So Yoko left her ring so she'd have another excuse to get into his home. It wasn't about what John wanted. Yoko forced herself on him, deliberately made Cynthia know about her presence and shattered their relationship, and John just couldn't get rid of her. Classic stalker.
Yoko got what she wanted. She went after John tenaciously and relentlessly until John was so sick with drugs that he just gave in. Yoko is a vile woman.
Good on her. Gotta admire her balls. She went after her man and got him. That's the easy bit, the harder bit is to keep him. He ended up falling head over heels for her. Drugs wouldn't keep John, he was better than that.

When that hold on started to weaken, John made noises of going back to England to visit family, friends, after rumors of divorce started to creep in, John gets brutally murdered and that is that.

I just never liked Yoko, it's nothing to do with her looks or where she is from. I do respect that John loved her, but there is something not quite right with her. I feel like she is a very intelligent woman, she tried to anchor herself to The Beatles. All that crap about she never knew who they were, crap I do not buy it. She knew what she was doing and she caught John like a fish. She tried to piggy back of John's name to promote her own pretentious art. Some of her ideas I will accept are original. I can't believe their were publicity photos of her with the Beatles as the 5th beatle or something. The plan was for her to con a big fish & take their money. She went after paul first ( which paul said in a 2001 interview with howard stern) then she set her sights on john. She was also not some Japanese woman that had no clue of the Beatles. She had not lived in japan since she was 11. Her parents raised her & her sister in one of the wealthiest towns in the world scarsdale ny. She also went to college in another very old money wealthy town bronxville & attended Sarah lawrence college at a time when people didnt really all go to college esp a woman in those days. So she is no dummy. She may not have been a Beatles fan but knew who they were & wanted to catch herself a big fish. When paul turned her down she went to john who at first was also bot interested but she was very determined & did not give up on getting john bc she probably saw unlike paul & mixed up man whom cynthia said when he was on lsd the hanger ons would take total advantage of him. No, (replying to the video) he didn't have to marry her right before The Beatles were making it big. They met in art school before they (The Beatles) even went to Hamburg. They weren't even known in England that well yet.
The book I read (The Love You Make) details how madly they BOTH fell in love with each other. John really loved Cynthia. But when they did become successful he couldn't avoid the temptation that came his way. Which is kind of understandable. I shouldn't say that but I think all the Beatles wives knew that could maybe happen.
Regardless of what happened Cynthia fell for John BEFORE he became successful. There's no excuse why she shouldn't have been taken care of for the rest of her life. And Julian too. He had sue his father's estate to get anything? The first-marriage kids always get screwed over. Trust me...I know..👍

Yoko had several lovers while married to John. Last one she moved in before John was laid to rest, yes,he did know about him.
I highly doubt that Cyn blackmailed John into marrying her. She wasn’t that type of person. Plus, using protection just wasn’t a thing in the early 60’s; the pill came out the same year Cyn got pregnant, and it probably wasn’t widely available until much later. So, I don't think it was like she refused to use protection, but more like she didn't have any other option.

I agree that John really lost his way after the Beatles. POB and Imagine were excellent, but his subsequent work was uneven and far less inspired. I rank both Paul and George ahead of John in their solo work. If Ringo were a stronger singer I would rank him higher as well.

When she was around him his relationship with Julian was strained and when she was away they were fine. She practiced black magic and brainwashed John into separating him from everyone including his first family.

We weren't there to see it all and I´m far from judging whoever, but one thing is so very clear: the more john grew appart from Cynthia (and Jules) and let drugs and others into his life, the more he kept losing his looks; he ended up becoming ugly, so to speak.

John's Aunt Mimi and her sisters encouraged John not to marry Cynthia, but he stood fast before them and told them that he loved Cynthia, wanted his baby and would most definitely marry her.
