- This week on ‘Has It Aged Well?’ we are discussing one of Salman Khan’s most successful, meme’d, danced to and hairstyled movies - 'Tere Naam' directed by Satish Kaushik. Joining Abbas and Urjita to talk about the movie is one of our favourite guests making his second appearance: film enthusiast, screenwriter and actor Aseem Chandaver. Topics discussed include: our first memories of Tere Naam, the iconic hairstyle, is there something like a “good toxic” movie?, the evergreen music and why this film was the last bastion of a certain type of mainstream entertainer.

Too many cuts. They could have extended the episode for as long as it goes. The conversation so very organic and very free flowing with lots of insightful observations. Also they have to fix the focus on the three cameras.
The original Sethu was loosely based on the real-life story of a friend of Bala.. The original film's director.. His friend ended up in a mental asylum after his lover committed suicide. The asylum in tamil was actual a real mental asylum called Ervadi & after the film release the police raided it.
The tapori culture in these movies feels like a projection from a bombay culture on to other places in the north where even the word ‘tapori’ used to feel foreign. There is a similar local scene everywhere no doubt, but it’s not tapori, it’s not the same lingo or style even if there is relatability and these movies never bothered with such locally authenticity which Anurag Kashyap or Anand Rai does right
Minor correction : I think Lagan lagi was done by sajid-wajid and other tracks were done by himesh.
Lagan Lagi and Tune saath jo mera Choda were by Sajid Wajid....till today both are angry (we lost Wajid few years back) as they were not nominated for any award only Himesh got all the allocades....producer and Tseries(label) messed it up and did not promote Sajid wajid

Trivia: Lagan Lagi and Tune saath jo mera Choda were done by Sajid Wajid....till today both are angry (we lost Wajid few years back) as they were not nominated for any award only Himesh got all the accolades....producer and T-series(label) messed it up and did not promote Sajid wajid. Then Salman Khan came for their rescue and gave them Mujhse Shaadi Karoge as reward.
RAAZ 2002 need to do guys. How can u ignore the Mother of All Horror movies in Bollywood. RAAZ is a cult of the cult classic in Bollywood horror with fear , story and music all perfect.
I have been recommending that movie to them for a very long time

gajni me jo male staff ko takla karne wali baat hai, if i remember correctly, ek kisi multiplex chain me koi aur, shayad koi yash raj ki movie lagi thi. us chain ke saath aamir khan ne deal karwayi thi ki unke boys gajni hair style me rahenge. taaki jo koi aur movie dekhne gaya hai usko bhi remind ho about gajni.

How did you guys miss talking about Salman Khan’s personal life which people related this to immediately? This movie came in the wake of the Salman-Aishwarya breakup drama and gave fans a chance to see him as the victim in light of his heartbreak projected through Radhe

Well in movie animal we don't feel anything for ranvijay character because of his actions, even when in the end he looses everything. But in tere naam we start to like radhe character as the movie progress further and end makes us sad.
I don't know why tere naam or bazigar and animal is even compared? Completely different movies.
The main characters in tere naam and bazigar were behaving rude to only certain people but in animal everyone was animal 😂, maybe that's why animal feels different from what we are used to see in inidan cenima.
It's like movie saw, we want to hate john kramer because the way he is torturing and killing people but we also have some part of liking towards him because what he is being through. That's what i feel animal movie is, maybe! 🤷

But, I felt that Tere Naam main. Radhe was the victim of circumstances and didn't realise anything. He even justifies himself by crying and holding her hand and phir heroine ko pyar ho jaata hai phir Tere Naam gaana shuru. Phir uske peeche gunde padte hain aur uska sur phoot jasta hai. You also missed one toxic character from Yuva- Lallan Singh. This man was impossible. Animal was nothing in front of him. He torches his wife, holds her hand, troubles her, hackles her, and even when she leaves her, he doesn't care about her. He's like gayi toh gayi. So frivolous attitude. And such a ruthless killer he was. In the whole film he hunts both Vivek and Ajay Devgan's character. Both the protagonists were somehow able to kill him. However, here too he was a victim of circumstances and was killed amidst constant and tiring fight.
This is exactly the problem with these movies, where at the end of the day kitna bhi toxic ho hero ko victim banana hai
