There is a reason for the different shade of blue, yes: it's because he's a member of the Librarius, who pretty much universally wear blue armor regardless of their chapter's colors (same reason the Techmarine and Chaplains are in red and black) - in the case of the Ultramarines who are blue normally, they stand out because it's not the same shade of blue. Mephiston - Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels - with his armor resembling flayed musculature is one of the rare exceptions to that rule. The original librarian *should* have likewise been that different shade of blue, but even GW isn't super consistent with painting up the example librarians that way. Also since you asked, that would be "crossing guards".
I got mine yesterday and chucked up a vid , so here's the interesting thing , there isn't any instructions but you can pop both arms out of the sockets to make it easier to put the cape on and the way it's intended is the back goes under the panel where the backpack goes just as it is on the original ultramarine librarian and the sides are meant to slot up under the tubes at that go around the shoulder.
Just got mine in hand today, and I realized why it is that the design of the cape was puzzling you at 7:58 (and why the arm articulation was being impeded, slightly) - you aren't meant to have to pull it down to plug the backpack in like that, you just didn't notice a key difference between Tigurius and most other figures with capes (that he shares with the original librarian): the reason there's no cut-away section on the cape to stick the backpack connection point through is because the backpack connection point is not actually projecting out from the rear of the torso like it does with the typical figures... it's hanging down *over* the back of the torso, from the hood. There's a gap that the back edge of the cape just slips up into, in other words, and the sides with the arm holes similarly are meant to slip up underneath the pipes.
Mine got different shading but I discovered something: his backpack as a slot UNDERNEATH for the cloak to slide into. Pins his robes right to his chest and back!!!
I'm a little bit disappointed in these last bunch of Warhammer characters, the paint on them seems lazy without edge highlighting, or in some cases, very little wash. And no alternate head sculpt or helmet doesn't seem right to me. These figures certainly are not getting any cheaper so as much as I really wanted an iteration of this character it's a hard pass for me. Thanks as always for the early look. 🙏💚
I can't wait to get mine. though I will say I'm not a big fan of the recent un-helmeted marine heads. specially High Marshall Helbrecht the skin looks way to washed out and has no life to it. I'm hoping a wash may fix that.
The finishing isnt as detailed.. this release is a disappointment..The facial colored looks horroble... ' soaked in water powder smeared face '... I hope Joytoy will repease Grimaldus

I'll need to check that out
Never noticed the Skeletor staff!
Straight from Snake Mountain

Great info
He looks cool.Almost like a beef up Armor heavy evil robocop.😏
Hahaha
Warhammer 40k figures with robes etc. would definitely benefit with fabric cloaks and tabards.
100%
This guy is coming to me
Nice

Yeah, i do miss the edge highlighting
Same reason I’m skipping many of the newer ones, it’s a shame because the sculpting is very good. Thanks got the review!
Joytoy are 3 for 3 on librarian figures with issues

A wash should make it look decent
