  • An onboard ride my MK1 Leyland National, GLJ681N from her home base near Milton Abbas, down into Winterborne Whitechurch and then along the A354 into Blandford St Mary. Excuse the dodgy gear changes as we leave Winterborne, shes not very good n hills and I was trying to find the balance between revving the nuts out of her and labouring the engine and not really succeeding . . .

In the mid 80's I worked at a bus engine rebuilders that literally did thousands of 510 rebuilds. I loved working on them. This vehicle is a credit to you, thanks for keeping the old girl going. Who knows maybe back in the day I worked on her 510?

Love that sound … many happy hours travelling on H&D nationals on X routes out of Bournemouth & a reminder of the very similar SNC class coaches we had at London Country High Wycombe Garage [HE] on Green Line Route 711 to Reigate via Oxford Circus … a 2 & 1/2 hour run. Sadly the last of those was on Friday 30th September 1977 .. The route ceased when HE closed …The late Don Urchart took SNC146 [HE54] for the very last journey to Reigate & Return
