Honestly, still absolute best scene in any of the Pirates movies is him walking down the stairs while the ship is exploding around him. Absolutely love it. Even resurgence as a meme/GIF. Stunning
He is one of those really really amazing “working” actors. Just brilliant work. Even if the movie he is in is crap, his performances are always extraordinary
It impressed me that Seth let him talk for as long as he did. A lot of times, these actors have a dozen stories to tell and they sit down, introduce themselves, and it's time for a commercial . . . or worse, time to go on to the next guest. We would never have gotten that great last story (including setup and punchline) if he'd only been given three to five minutes.
Seth is the best of the late night interviewers by far. Always is friendly and genuinely pleased to spend time with the guests. Love Tom Hollander! So glad he got a late night spot.
This is a perfect interview/guestspot! Great job Seth! No interruptions and wonderful insight by the guest! Never seen Tom Hollander outside of his roles. This was very entertaining.
Before all the roles people recognize him for, Tom Hollander played a doomed poet in the BBC miniseries Wives and Daughters, which is one of my comfort watches. But he was such a tragic figure in that show. So when I next saw him as Mr. Collins and wanted to slap him, I knew he was an incredibly versatile performer. Exemplary, if you will.
I may not have seen all the Tom Hollander movies, but every scene he is in, be it Pirates of the Caribbean or About Time, he FUCKING steals the show. Besides, what a joy to just listen to his anecdotes. Absolute legend.
In the loop is one of my favorite films of all time. Funny beyond belief. And I still quote the "difficult difficult lemon difficult"-line all the time. Great interview!
I love it so much-the writing is so good it almost hurts to not be able to memorize the whole thing. Wasn't Tom "the meat in the room" as well? I need to rewatch...
Best kind of interview on both sides. Left wishing they had a longer conversation. Tom said “anyway” at the end right before Seth wrapped it up for commercial break and seemed to wish he could have a longer interview with Seth. Which is a sign they were both having fun and enjoying it.
There is an excelllent British TV series callled Rev (as in Reverend) where he appears as a well meaning but conflicted vicar, which he starred in and co-wrote. And at teh other end of the spectrum as Corky the psychopathic henchman in The Night Manager. Both really worth watching if you can find them overseas. A talented actor indeed.
He was amazing as Corky in The Night Manager, a complete 180 from himself as he comes off in interviews.. looks like it was such a fun character for him to play
What a charming interview! I first saw him ages ago on Absolutely Fabulous, and he was wonderful in The White Lotus and Bird Box. I'm so looking forward to seeing him play Truman Capote!
So glad to see Seth Myers interviewing Tom. He has been one of my favorite actors since I saw him in Pirates and P&P. He was also amazing in Cambridge Spies, Doctor Thorne, and Ipcress Files. Everything he does, Tom just draws you in. Absolutely amazing actor!
Worst of the three Kingsman movies. By some reason the movie forgot France was also fighting WW1 so the whole premise of the bad guy is flawed. Ah well
What a wonderful dry wit. Terrific actor. I've loved him since I saw "Wives and Daughters" in 1999. And he was also brilliant more recently in "Us" on PBS' Masterpiece.
With the notable exception of Graham Norton, our interviewers here in the UK are bad. They interrupt the guests and ask cringy questions. I enjoy watching US talk shows, and Seth is a top host 😊
There's more than just Norton, at least there was, you just have to avoid the likes of Wossy. Rob Brydon is good but it is a small bunch. They also talk over guests and so on in the US. Fallon is horrendous for it, Corden too but he kinda straddles the line as he's British but on an American show. Meyers and Colbert are the best US chat show hosts I've seen.
@@Elwaves2925 I would also nominate Sean Evans as one of the best interviewers of all time.. his team is fantastic and he has the luxury of delegating the role of provocateur to spicy peppers.. he suffers with the guest, he's on their side.. the result speaks for itself

Truman Capote on Johnny Carson was a must-watch for me back in the 20th century. Tom Hollander nailed his performance as Truman Capote in that film clip.
Tom Hollanders performance as the Bennett family´s cousin in Pride and Prejudice is pure brilliance. His scenes with Keira Knighly are both comical and cringey! And thank you Seth...great interview!
He's brilliant in Rev. His downtrodden expression is top notch! Edit : probably get grief for this but toby jones was better than philip seymour hoffman as capote.....

I absolutely absolutely love him as an actor. Another one of those classically trained British actors who speaks so eloquently. I cannot wait to watch his new show I also just love his voice its almost ASMR oh he's so talented. I hope this means that I'll see him on more talk shows promoting this same project!
He truly was a genius in that role as King George. It was a rather short performance and scene, but he was brilliant in it. He portrayed the sad shock and regal nature of the King, and the awkward meeting between his characters the ruler of England and John Adams of the brand-new country of the United States of America.
