I know Texas if so hot in summer i live there in texas in Houston in the past after my parents divorce I have families in Houston but hey the HEAT 🔥 of the Sunchine Florida State is horribly hot soooooo high humidity make you feel soooooooo miserable the summertime in Florida is long i was born in Philadelphia in Hershey Pennsylvania and i miss the snow and cold days 😥😥
I liked this video, I'm 23 and have done a lot of different work but I think Electrician is something I really want to get into and make a career out of. Im just so tired of 9-5 dead end jobs. And this is a good video to let me know what you guys actually do. Would love to see more videos of more work you do
I currently work in the IT industry as a systems administrator and make extremely good money. The only problem is, I sit at a desk literally all the time. I can't stand it. I hate sitting for long periods of time to the point it's affecting my productivity at work (I used to work at a datacenter which i loved. Always was moving around). It's gotten even worse since the covid shit hit, forced to work from home remotely stuck in the same few areas literally every single day. I've been thinking about switching careers. I'd take a major pay cut starting out in a new field, but it may be worth it. Working at a desk all day just isn't for me
I hear you on that, I would not survive a desk job! I need to move around. I am always encouraging people to come into the trade, we need more tradesmen. Unfortunately the pay cut may be pretty drastic. I am not sure what your hourly rate is now but I can tell you that first year electrician apprentices start at $13/hr maybe $15/hr if you find a good company. Good luck with your transition should you decide to make that move!
@@TannerEskew Hi Tanner, I'm kind of in the same boat as Ryan. I spoke with an electrician and he told me a journeyman working in residential makesaround 24/hr(michigan) which is a lot lower than I thought it would be. He told me to do commercial but online I've heard that journeyman can make more around 30/hr-40/hr range. Does that sound about right? I was expecting to take a pay cut at least for the first year or two but that's a big difference.
Yeah journeyman wages start at $28/hr Here in central Texas. Commercial or residential doesn’t seem to be a factor when it comes to jman wages but for apprentices it can be all over the place. Sometimes you’ll find a guy who’s been in the trade 30+ years. Still has an apprentice license and makes 30+ dollars an hour. Also might be the same guy you see hacking stuff together all the time so it really just depends.
It would really suck wiring a house and having to use those little rolls of romex. it wastes time just having to unroll it. Tell your boss to buy the big rolls, use EMT as the roller nailed to the studs. the big roll fits right in there, then you can pull multiple HR's at a time
jarry Dee this is funny I heard someone say this!😂 I’m a sheet rocker switching to electrical ASAP but we always hate when electricians leave those big staples on the stud and you’re wonder why your sheet isn’t flat and hit it only to see a big staple going through it😂
Residential won’t take school bro, if you can find a helpers job & get hands on you can learn residential inside out within a year helping out you know? & then branch off independently this type of work is a lot easier than you may think
I graduated high school and never took math classes serious enough, how much actual algebra do you do on the job? I believe if my day required it I can get myself to figure it out. Is most of it just within measurements and such? I know this is a career I want to get involved in, especially doing residential work being in Central Illinois. There’s always new construction on old farmland and because of CAT. Thanks for sharing this. If anyone is from IL and has any pointers for someone with NO experience let me know. I’ve been working in a print shop (3years) doing different print media’s and doing graphic design and had no experience with it previously. So I’d love to get in a career where they want to show people the right way to do something.
If you want to get an electrical license, you have to go to trade school and do you basic, intermediate, and advanced. Lots of math in school but depending on field you get into you might not need too much math
@@TannerEskew tanner. Good to meet you. Im Robert. Im also from texas. Im in Residential electrician class. I have a couple questions. Hope u can help. Realistically who would hire me? And to the point how much can i make starting with a company or on my own??? I should be done by beginning of next year. I heard its very rewarding. Thanks in advance
Good to see you again brother glad to see you home with your girl and your boys and doing what you do. I hope things in Puerto Rico get better. So that you can take your girl out there in a nice little vacation. Let me recommend that you rent something nice. Because I wouldn't suggest you have your girl stay in the tent what hating on the farm LOL. Looks like you got a good life there man all the best to you and your girl and the boys. God bless
No wonder you're in good shape Tanner with all those ladders you be climbing lol and what a sweet couple you and your girl make. More vids of you and your girl and your work day of course lol💛
You don’t leave a little loop or something above for future trouble shooting?? Just right into the box ehh... and the running shoes are nice. Way to represent
Hey man what is being a Vegan in the heart of Texas like? I am vegan, but in my part of Florida there are a few Vegan restaurants. Were you an apprentice when you posted this?
You know veganism time span is about six years before your body starts breaking down. Leaky gut, bacterial infection, ect. This is because meat is important for your immune system among other things. Some things you can't get from plants. Seen some hard core vegans on TH-cam go through stubborn denial as they tell their stories about how they hop from doctor to doctor because they all say the same thing as they try every complex vegan food out there. They reluctantly agree to eat fish and eggs for the first week and *snap* Immediate bounce back of vitals and health. Then everyone in their vegan community turns on them and says they are not REAL vegans. It's like cmon... You got to look out for your health. Not saying you can't be vegan but wont hurt to have fish and eggs on the DL when no ones looking. hahaha
@@TannerEskew weve all been there lol, havent done much housing work so i guess im not used to seeing guys work without boots. makes sense for resi though, good to be quick on your feet

Happy feels good!
I see you pulled all the home runs who pulled the Travelers and who pulled the switch legs
Looks like the guy from Arrow
My GF says so to. Lol
That would drive me crazy to have to listen to that rap shit all day.
lol yeah we listened to rap, country, tejano, rock, you name it!

Wow this made me feel incredibly good about myself and the crew I work for...Dear god
Great video man, I can tell you love what you do
Thank you brother! Check out some of my new stuff, I do commercial service work now!
Why do people stick the wire in the box with the sheath still on? I hate that shit.
How to become an electrician?
What's the first step for someone who doesn't know nothing about that profession?
When you were thin you looked like a model, well now that you are chubby you don't look bad, but thin you look much better.
Lol well thanks for the compliment! Haha I’m working on getting back to this weight.
Be careful with that job you have electrician I saw a guy died almost in front of me because he receive an electrical shock
thanks for the video thinking about doing a trade
Watch my most recent video if you’re interested in wages as an apprentice!
Nice I’m a 16 year old taking an electrician course for 2 years

Damn Stephen Amell does electrical too huh
Lol I don’t understand this reference... who is Stephen amell?
Tanner Eskew he’s the guy that plays the arrow, I just saw another comment that said that I don’t feel very original anymore
Lol oh yes.. everyone tells me I look like the guy from arrow! I never bothered to see who this guy was!

I sucked at math and have been an electrician for 4 years ... you just use basic math .. add subtract divide multiply
If you want to get an electrical license, you have to go to trade school and do you basic, intermediate, and advanced. Lots of math in school but depending on field you get into you might not need too much math
Take a couple semesters of algebra and get a tutor

When are you coming back to Puerto Rico? I'm sure there is a lot of electric work here.
What state you from?
I am in Texas
I’m looking to move to Houston next year
Every major city in Texas is looking for electricians
What advice do you have for an electrician right out of school in getting a Job in TX?
How many years did it take you in becoming a master electrician?
Love seeing this as I’m a firefighter and army veteran vegan and changing careers.
Go vegan.
Thank you! I used to get so much shit for being a vegan tradesman, now everyone wants to be a vegan lol
