Bailey, please do the dark history of how the US acquired Hawaii as a state! The Native Hawaiians need to be represented and heard. We were also called savages, were clothed, forced to stop practicing our culture which was also our religion, and had our lands stolen from us. Our queen was imprisoned in her own palace!

The worst part to me is everyone in that area outside of Waco knew he was messing with young teen girls. They also knew David jogged outside in just shorts and shoes Every morning. They could have ambushed just David in the dirt roads. They were not in the town of Waco it is miles out in farm land.
I have family 3 miles from the compound, the locals knew his daily patterns. You can’t sneak up on the Prarrie in a tiny town outside a small town. Everybody knows everyone else and their vehicles.

There’s no record of Koresh being with women under the age of 14. Texas law allows for 14 year olds to marry with parental consent. So there was never a way for social services or law enforcement to make a case. But the federal saviors swooped in and shot them up, tortured them for a month, gassed and incinerated the kids anyway so…..no worries either way.

It was pretty eerie. The compound was fenced in and there were makeshift crosses all over the pile where the building had once stood. There was a school bus there on the ground and I decided to check it out. There were clothes all over the place inside and I found letters in envelopes that had been sent to family members and friends who were members of the Branch Davidian's, it was really sad.

Same. I knew people in Waco who knew Koresh. My bf used to live down the street from him before the Branch Davidians. I watched it unfold, I saw TV interviews with people I knew. I know what I think happened, I know what they should have done to avoid the whole situation, and I know that I get highly agitated and emotional over this, even now. I don't agree with their beliefs but I believe in their right to hold them. I visit Mt Carmel every April 19th to pay respects.

I visited Mount Carmel where the siege happened about 15 years ago. It was eerily beautiful. There was a heavy low laying fog that day and it made for a very spooky atmosphere. There was a small church there and a memorial for all the victims who lost their lives in the Waco siege.
I don’t know if visitors are still allowed to the site, but I recommend checking it out if you’re in Waco. It has a very heavy feeling, you almost feel like you’re being watched. A really creepy vibe.

I'll admit the government definitely did things wrong, but the branch Davidians and Vernon were obviously severely mentally ill. I get it, the government committed serious atrocities like supposedly setting the compound on fire, etc., But you must must also consider the factor these insane religious fanatics played a major role in it by doing things like getting involved in shootouts and digging up dead frickin bodies. Yeah, the government took it too far, the branch Davidians brought it to that point though, plain and simple. They were certifiably insane.
