- Amira Willighagen performs Nella Fantasia during an 'Afrikaans is Groot' concert staged in South Africa in November 2016.
In an arrangement written especially for Amira, the performance begins with the majestic Ennio Morricone composition 'River' from the soundtrack to the movie 'The Mission'. This is then followed by Amira's rendition of Nella Fantasia which is based on the haunting melody known as 'Gabriel's Oboe' written by the same composer for the same movie.
Born 27 March 2004, Amira was 12 years old at the time of this performance.

Following her highly successful performances at the 'Classics is Groot' concerts held earlier in the year, Amira was invited back to the country to perform as a guest artiste at the eleven 'Afrikaans is Groot' concerts held during November 2016.
During the show, Amira sang a brief duet with Corlea Botha, together with other artists, during a rendition of a sacred piece known as 'Die Onse Vader' (The Lord's Prayer) and she also joined the whole group in the Finalé. Nella Fantasia was the only solo number performed.
The above performances are included in the DVD of the full show entitled 'Afrikaans is Groot 2016 - Dié Konsert'.

I wonder what it is that keeps me coming back to this track, It has to be more than her presence, her dress and the big finish. There are many other tracks that I find wonderful, but I keep returning to 'Nella Fantasia'.
I find it unbelievable that a 12 year old girl can sing like this and from where does she get the lung capacity. This young woman is truly amazing with a great future. I know she was asked this before and answered that for her it is normal, 'just like walking'

i have been watching almost everything she has done since the age of 9. in this video she is now 12 or 13. it has always been said,"and a child will lead them". i never really understood that statement until i saw her sing. i still haven't changed my mind. every time i watch my favorite videos of amira, i'm a mess. She sang for maybe 30 seconds and already every hair was standing on end and my goose-bums had goosebumps. She is spellbinding. I am not a classical music fan at all, but this girl had me in tears by 45 seconds - her voice is so beautiful.

Once in a very great while, God presents someone onto the world stage that transcends most all that have come before and that's where Amira comes in. Her voice is simply beyond description. A soprano version of Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, you name it. To describe Amira is to drain the vocabulary of superlatives.

I don't know much of her background, family, etc., but from the aura and charisma she projects, I believe she has an equally beautiful, modest character and values too! I have listened to opera all my life and I am 70 -years-old I have listened to all the great sopranos there has never been anything like Amira. How I wish I was a young man so I could listen to this magnificent voice all of my life, I thank the Lord for allowing me to live long enough to have heard this immortal voice of Amira Willighagen and then with great gratitude I see this beautiful humble young lady that brings us this heavenly music. How fortunate the world is to be blessed with this great lady.

Since HGT I have been awestruck by the purity and clarity of Amira's voice. I am not a musician, but to me Amira's voice is better than any choir or any instrument. And her voice and presentation have only improved.

If there are angels on Earth.... Amira is certainly the brightest of them. I've watched all her TH-cam videos from her earliest impromptu performance on "Holland's Got Talent" to this latest. She has gone from a precocious nine-year-old, unaware of her raw talent, to the performance stages around the world, amazing audiences... yes, even bringing them to tears, with her beautiful renditions of classical pieces. Her beauty and talent grows with each year. Hup Amira!

She started by knocking the socks off of everyone when, at only 9 years old, she won Holland’s Got Talent!! She has now gone on to become a SUPERSTAR!!! The whole world stands in awe of this young ladies’ tremendous God given talent!!! What an angel with the voice of a singing nightingale !!!
I accidentally came upon Amira's 2013 audition of Holland's Got talent and listened to her sing O Mio Babbino Caro. I was awe struck at this nine year old girl that could sing like that. It was her time to make her appearance and share her gift with the rest of us. At that time I don't think she realized what an impact she had made on the world of music. And, since then, I have been trying to follow her advancement. I try to keep up on her interviews but most of them are not captioned for
English-speaking persons. Her first TV interview was, however, and it was very enjoyable. Amira has a voice that I am having a difficult time finding the right word to descirbe it. Impressive, magnificent, perfect, beautiful. One word that would encompass all of these... when she sings the songs just come so easily and naturally and the sound is so clear and bright. I have not been a fan of listening to opera songs before, but now, as long Amira Willighagen is singing, I will definitely be listening.
However, not only does she have the voice of angel, unmatched anywhere in this world, she is also a budding philanthrophist. My admiration for her increased ten-fold when I learned of her Gelukskinders Foundation. Thank you, Amira.
Peter, you've said it well and I'm proud of you that you also mention her Foundation. That's what we like about Amira, she's not only a gifted singer, but also cares for children who have less or nothing to play with, which is vital during the process of growing up. Amira took care of that, and it is just for this great humble gesture, she we be my lifetime singer, no matter what happens to her and which direction she will go.
Add to her effort in establishing and supporting Gelukskinder Foundation is the fact that she regularly performs in various charity concerts and events. Those performances are deducted from the number of performances she is allowed to perform in a given year under the law applicable to her. She turns down hundreds of invitations to perform for a fee yet she happily shares her talent for free to help others.

I have heard the song a thousand times, and I am always amazed.
Witnessing this rendition of Nella Fantasia, I developed leaky-eyetis like the rest of the world and audience for no reason that I can explain. She is human off-stage, but her singing simply transcends into something indescribable. Delivered in the package of a child. Opera has suddenly become the go-to music for shower singing - and I don't believe I've listened to opera in decades. Amira, I hope you stay the course and continue to touch souls, thank you for sharing your amazing talent.
