Until I saw Amira on Holland's Got Talent singing O Mio Babino Caro at age 9, I had no interest in opera or words I cannot understand. I have been obsessed with Amira and her angelic voice ever since. Her songs play in my head every day. She is amazing.

I’ve attempted to compare and contrast Amira with other young opera singers, trying to find out why I like her more than the others. It took me awhile to come to the conclusion that when she sings, she somehow takes you with her to the beauty of the song that she sings. When she comes on stage, one sees the beautiful face, the lovely clothes, the carefully selected accessories. But soon as she starts singing, it becomes just you and the song - no distractions of well-scripted hand and face movements unlike the others; everything else fades from view. And when she finishes, one is jarred back to reality. Once more one sees the lovely little girl waving to the crowd with that unaffected girlish smile that says I enjoyed that, did you? Somehow one realizes it was not just a performance you watched, but an experience you shared with Amira. How does one so young do this magic?
Raquel Major ... Yes, I think you have it spot on. Her ability to somehow share the song with her audience is what sets her apart. Certain melodic tones in her voice seem to do it for me. Some pieces more than others. This rendition is just full of those beautiful almost haunting tones. She truly is a gift to be cherished.

Witnessing this rendition of Nella Fantasia, I developed leaky-eyetis like the rest of the world and audience for no reason that I can explain. She is human off-stage, but her singing simply transcends into something indescribable. Delivered in the package of a child. Opera has suddenly become the go-to music for shower singing - and I don't believe I've listened to opera in decades. This is one of my most favorite videos of Amira. She is 12 y.o. when she performs this song but it shows the tremendous range, purity, and clarity of her voice. Many people try to compare her to Maria Callas, but there is no comparison. Amira is much better than Maria. Her ability is so amazing. At the end of any of her performances she is not even breathing hard. so many singers who sing some of these same songs and perform them Amira does you will notice them breathing hard at the end of their performance. Not so with Amira. She is just an amazing singer. I do believe that she is the best in the world. I am totally in love with her and and her voice...the most beautiful voice ever!
Not sure if you're aware Peter, but another of Amira's loves is distance running. And she's quite adept at it, having won many races since very young. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if that has contributed to those tiny lungs being so powerful. But the beauty of her renditions is another story. That comes from that big charitable heart of hers. Her charity continues to build playgrounds for the schools in her areas that can't afford to, and she donates half of her performance fees to her charity. I wonder what it is that keeps me coming back to this track, It has to be more than her presence, her dress and the big finish. There are many other tracks that I find wonderful, but I keep returning to 'Nella Fantasia'. I can't help it but I had to come back again not only to hear that beautiful voice, but to see that beautiful precious smile when she walks out on the stage and that precious sweet smile at the end. She is so, so sweet.
I accidentally came upon Amira's 2013 audition of Holland's Got talent and listened to her sing O Mio Babbino Caro. I was awe struck at this nine year old girl that could sing like that. It was her time to make her appearance and share her gift with the rest of us. At that time I don't think she realized what an impact she had made on the world of music. And, since then, I have been trying to follow her advancement. I try to keep up on her interviews but most of them are not captioned for English-speaking persons. Her first TV interview was, however, and it was very enjoyable. Amira has a voice that I am having a difficult time finding the right word to descirbe it. Impressive, magnificent, perfect, beautiful. One word that would encompass all of these... when she sings the songs just come so easily and naturally and the sound is so clear and bright. I have not been a fan of listening to opera songs before, but now, as long Amira Willighagen is singing, I will definitely be listening. However, not only does she have the voice of angel, unmatched anywhere in this world, she is also a budding philanthrophist. My admiration for her increased ten-fold when I learned of her Gelukskinders Foundation. Thank you, Amira.

That's what we like about Amira, she's not only a gifted singer, but also cares for children who have less or nothing to play with, which is vital during the process of growing up. Add to her effort in establishing and supporting Gelukskinder Foundation is the fact that she regularly performs in various charity concerts and events. I remember seeing her on Holland's Got Talent over a year ago, I knew then she was a special talent especially when she looked confused when they asked her who taught you how to sing or who is your teacher. She didn't know how to answer the questions. She actually listened to the music and words on TH-cam and learned it from there at the start. Her voice is breathtaking and soothes the soul. It appears that she sings humbly and without effort.

Since HGT I have been awestruck by the purity and clarity of Amira's voice. I am not a musician, but to me Amira's voice is better than any choir or any instrument. And her voice and presentation have only improved.

I’ve attempted to compare and contrast Amira with other young opera singers, trying to find out why I like her more than the others. It took me awhile to come to the conclusion that when she sings, she somehow takes you with her to the beauty of the song that she sings. When she comes on stage, one sees the beautiful face, the lovely clothes, the carefully selected accessories. But soon as she starts singing, it becomes just you and the song - no distractions of well-scripted hand and face movements unlike the others; everything else fades from view. And when she finishes, one is jarred back to reality. Once more one sees the lovely little girl waving to the crowd with that unaffected girlish smile that says I enjoyed that, did you? Somehow one realizes it was not just a performance you watched, but an experience you shared with Amira. How does one so young do this magic?

This is one of my most favorite videos of Amira. She is 12 y.o. when she performs this song but it shows the tremendous range, purity, and clarity of her voice. Many people try to compare her to Maria Callas, but there is no comparison. Amira is much better than Maria. Her ability is so amazing. At the end of any of her performances she is not even breathing hard.

Not sure if you're aware Peter, but another of Amira's loves is distance running. And she's quite adept at it, having won many races since very young. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if that has contributed to those tiny lungs being so powerful. But the beauty of her renditions is another story. That comes from that big charitable heart of hers. Her charity continues to build playgrounds for the schools in her areas that can't afford to, and she donates half of her performance fees to her charity. She also oversees the maintenance of those playgrounds. This young girl is incredible! She decided on tis charity at the age of 9 y.o.. If you haven;t viewed the video of her first TV interview after HGT, you really should. She is just amazing.

I can't help it but I had to come back again not only to hear that beautiful voice, but to see that beautiful precious smile when she walks out on the stage and that precious sweet smile at the end. She is so, so sweet.
I accidentally came upon Amira's 2013 audition of Holland's Got talent and listened to her sing O Mio Babbino Caro. I was awe struck at this nine year old girl that could sing like that. It was her time to make her appearance and share her gift with the rest of us. At that time I don't think she realized what an impact she had made on the world of music. And, since then, I have been trying to follow her advancement. I try to keep up on her interviews but most of them are not captioned for
English-speaking persons. Her first TV interview was, however, and it was very enjoyable. Amira has a voice that I am having a difficult time finding the right word to descirbe it. Impressive, magnificent, perfect, beautiful. One word that would encompass all of these... when she sings the songs just come so easily and naturally and the sound is so clear and bright. I have not been a fan of listening to opera songs before, but now, as long Amira Willighagen is singing, I will definitely be listening.
However, not only does she have the voice of angel, unmatched anywhere in this world, she is also a budding philanthrophist. My admiration for her increased ten-fold when I learned of her Gelukskinders Foundation. Thank you, Amira.
Peter, you've said it well and I'm proud of you that you also mention her Foundation. That's what we like about Amira, she's not only a gifted singer, but also cares for children who have less or nothing to play with, which is vital during the process of growing up. Amira took care of that, and it is just for this great humble gesture, she we be my lifetime singer, no matter what happens to her and which direction she will go.
Add to her effort in establishing and supporting Gelukskinder Foundation is the fact that she regularly performs in various charity concerts and events. Those performances are deducted from the number of performances she is allowed to perform in a given year under the law applicable to her. She turns down hundreds of invitations to perform for a fee yet she happily shares her talent for free to help others.

I remember seeing her on Holland's Got Talent over a year ago, I knew then she was a special talent especially when she looked confused when they asked her who taught you how to sing or who is your teacher. She didn't know how to answer the questions. She actually listened to the music and words on TH-cam and learned it from there at the start. Her voice is breathtaking and soothes the soul.
