Late 50's guy and l miss the time when people did not have to be fabulously wealthy to have a house on a beach. Or just to live in a house anywhere for that matter. As an middle aged and soon to be elderly person it sucks that l worked all my life only to have a housing bubble wreck my dreams. Of course, at least l once had hope of owning a house, even if it didn't work out. But unfortunately nowadays kids have basically *no chance* of ever owning where they will have to live. I'm rapidly approaching middle age (which is laughable to some, but I'm 37). I refuse to not adapt to modernity. I don't do or enjoy every aspect of it, I like older things too - but I won't hate something purely because its new and I don't understand it (yet). I basically don't want to become a Boomer - which is more a way of thinking now then an age, since not all 60 somethings are like that. I want to be the cool old lady who listens to new music, plays new games, keeps up with technology and social trends and can get on with the younger generation. Its not easy, even at my relatively young age. The new generation of teenagers and 20 somethings do bemuse me at times with their new trends - but I don't hate them, I try to understand them. I see what they like, and I decide whether I like it too based on my own tastes. Nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia is a dead end path.
