Great video RJ!!! Generally speaking I have had better experiences with IHG(with basic status) than Marriott or Hilton gold status. 26x back with IHG status is pretty good(13% back) when staying at IHG hotels. The 5x on travel, gas, and dining is ok(2.5% back) the 3x back(1.5%) is good for a base. The free night pays for the 99 dollar fee, the welcome offer is work 700 dollars. This is a pretty solid card. It definitely on my list.
Thank you! I agree, these are solid offerings. I think the points values can get overblown. Much how NFL seems more offensive focused because points are worth 7 vs an NHL game. Also, I think it's better to simply pick the program/properties chain you want to stay at then get the supporting cards. May or may not be max value but you'll be happier where you want to be and still saving money
Not bad. If I wasn't already tied to two other hotel programs, IHG would be a strong consideration.
Thought they did a good job here. I liked it more than the Hyatt biz card we saw awhile back. I do think the points values are somewhat overemphasized. Solid cards, lower AF's and easy everyday cards at that.
Had to wait a LOONNNGGGG time to get under 5/24. So I was hitting the dang refresh button for the IHG biz card for like 16 *hours*. lol Didn't go live until like...4p-ish or after eastern time. Rough wait. lol Got an IHG# to avoid any conflicts of trying to merge 2 fresh applications in the future. 140k IHG biz bonus is bigger than what I was expecting. So got that. And then did the slightly hidden 100k IHG personal offer with no annual fee and $100 back. That's better value than the 125k offer with an annual fee in my opinion. I'm already drowning in free nights to use. Goodbye 4/24. I will miss you... IHG pts are worth more like 0.3 cents per point in an everyday/common context. TPG always lists inflated values that are very difficult to duplicate.
Hey, that's awesome congrats! This why I appreciate them making a solid biz card for a reasonable fee, unlike what they did with the Hyatt card. That's interesting on the points valuation. Honestly, I felt it best to tell folks I don't have any experience with IHG vs trying to reverse engineer a solution.
Honestly, I think it's better to pick the hotel/airlines chains that you like or work best then get the supporting cards. It may not be the best value but it's so easy to earn points that you'll still save money and be happier being where you want to be
Thanks for explaining the 26X; do you think that it would be beneficial to sign up for a membership before applying for the card? This card is on my radar for a hotel card mostly because they seem to be family friendly (at least I hope so). I also don't have a card that has a G.E./TSA reimbursement; I only have clear on my AMEX charge card. Let me what you think in regards to a family friendly hotel card. I am considering the big four Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton and IHG. Maybe you can create a video for the best family friendly credit card!
I would make an IHG account first. I think it may be required. The card is gonna earn IHG points and the cobranded point go straight to your account with the chain, not to Chase like other cards. They'll ask for the account # at application I believe.
Best family friendly hotels as narrated by the dude with no kids... lets see how awkward I can make it lol.

I've also heard of people doing Hyatt or Wyndham because they have condo type options in some places. More space, a full kitchen to make food, ect.

Thank you sir. I'm not familiar with them either. Sometimes I think it's more about picking the system that you like the best. So it it's IHG, none of these a bad; even with the points value there are so many points that it's like the same thing... kinda like how football seems more score focused cause points are worth 7 vs baseball

Honestly it's probably whichever property chain you prefer.
If you have a lot of chase points that you'd transfer to IHG then that could make sense due to the 4th night free when booked via points. Also the reward night each anniversary. Probably easier to make your annual fee back on the IHG.
On the other hand if you have a lot of MR points from Amex then sending them to Hilton would be easier and then I'd lean Surpass. Don't get an award night but you do get the gold status which is ok.
Not sure that's helpful, tho I honestly think you'll be fine going with the brand you like the most or the one that fits into your existing card system
Sorry to bug you rj. I'm going to buy a door dash gift card along with some groceries at Albertsons to max out the flex caterogy. If I buy a 500$ gift card along with my grocery will that raise a red flag. I think chase only cares if you try to buy cash equivalents like a preloaded card correct.

I buy $500 gift cards on their own with my Freedom cards and have never had an issuer. Every so often the first transaction my trip fraud prevention but aside from that no concerns. Enjoy the food and the 5x!

Sadly no. The IHG cards allow for one personal and one business version
