Oh, I hoped you guys would go for the nonfiction shortlist just because I wanted you to read Katherine Rundell's book. She is one of my favourite authors (I love her especially for her children's books) and the golden mole is a great read. You and David together in a video is always a treat :)

A great video. I share your excitement at opening a box of new books. I was the same in my librarian days when a box of new books arrived in the branch. An excitement second only to that of going on a stock buy to a bookshop. 😅

This video was so wholesome! Had me laughing out loud with yous 🥰 Wanted to say about the "really good actually" book that its not really that depressing imo... very real look at a breakup that hits our protagonist hard but also has lots of laugh out loud bits in it. Very emotionally affecting for sure but was just a really good well-rounded story imo. Hope you enjoy it when you get to pick it up! 😊

Hi Lauren and David Read James Rebanks book about being a Cumbrian farmer. From memory he was a bit of a tearaway as a boy but became a gr8t farmer and is a national spokesperson for all matters relating to sheep farming. So love to read his- i,m presuming- his wife,s book. Rdg a book by Isaac and the Egg author. Gr8t!

Lauren, you will love The Golden Mole! I read it last year and learnt so much. It’s split into different animals and is a quick read.
I have a feeling you will hate Really Good Actually as it’s contemporary fiction 😅 but I didn’t mind it when I read it.
It was published in 1998 so I don't know if it held up (can't imagine it didn't), I recommend reading Round Ireland with a Fridge by Tony Hawks to David if he hasn't yet

Great video. The Final Year didn't inspire me as the blurb sounded judgy of mum going to the Bingo but no mention of Dad. I have a number of the books mentioned on fiction and non-fiction lists so will read along too. 💙
