Hi Lauren, I just want to make a correction. The You Choose books are written by Pippa Goodhart. It is illustrated by Nick Sharatt and he has illustrated a few of her previous books which she has written. I went to school with Pippa’s daughters and I just want to make sure credit is given where it is due. But I do agree they are lovely books 😊

Thank you so much for that Anika! I didn't have the book with me so I gave the wrong information, I'm going to pin your comment so that people will see! :)

While you talked about the cake you made I thought about the gingerbread we had when I was a kid. We put warm apple sauce on it ( being good New Englanders we had applesauce everything in the fall) I also thought it might be good with a thick spread of butter and cup of tea.
I purchased a copy of the Classical in a thrift store and am enjoying every bit - when my grands are at my house they listen too. I live in the PNW and we have 2 great radio stations (can listen online) All Classical Radio and ICAN. ICAN is for children -- my grands enjoy listening. (truth be told I enjoy it too). Thank you for introducing me to A Poem for Every Season. I in turn introduced my bookclub to the books now most of us have our copies and we read the poem of the day at our meetings.
Thank you again for great recommends and a fun video.

My first thought was Black Beauty, a lot of empathy and understanding the animals are conscious creatures with feelings. I think teaching children in general about the natural world and empathy and love toward all creatures is important.

For children's books, I would say Michael Ende (Never-ending story or Momo).
For a more modern one maybe the pages & co series (although I wasn't the biggest fan of #3&4). For an older audience, I would also say Percy Jackson

Such an easy question for me this time 😊. Anne of Green Gables for sure is the book every child should read. I was in my 50’s when I read it for the first time and I ❤ it so much… also, that David is such a cutie I love when he sneaks into the video and blows us kisses 😘

I’m partial to the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries. Nancy Drew is my personal heroine (she embodies Girl Power 💯) but both series teach kids to be brave and driven, about perseverance, hard work, and family & friend loyalty. Real life abduction survivors have said that they only escaped because they remembered something from a Nancy Drew book. I have the original 56 books in the ND series and cannot wait until my niece can read them.

The House on the Strand is a brilliant book, I really need to make the time to reread!
The children's book I think everyone should read.... I haven't read that many, but I think The Famous Five series is brilliant for giving children that nostalgic feelings of freedom and good manners. Also Swallows and Amazons!

David is just so cute 🥰. Also your pjs are gorgeous and I love a pyjamas day. I struggled to think of answer for the question as I didn’t enjoy reading when I was a kid ; undiagnosed dyslexia but I loved Danny the champion of the world by Roald Dahl as my mum and I would read a page each aloud 💙 so the roald Dahl books have my vote. I’m gutted I’m going to miss the cozy reading night live as I’m seeing my sisters show 😢

The book that every child should read is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and the series that every child should read is the Tortall series by Tamora Pierce, but especially the Song of the Lioness Quartet!

Another fun video 🙂 I think that The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner is a good series for kids, and my children all loved The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket We read those together before bed, and they still refer to the books as young adults

I sometimes wear dresses open over jeans and a crop top - I couldn't tell how full the skirt on the checked dress was, but that might work?

Recently, I watched a video posted by Caterpillar Cross Stitch. I mentioned that I had purchased patterns from them because of your channel. As an American I do not know if I would have purchased their products without having heard about them via your channel. They acknowledged my post. Hopefully, they will express their gratitude to you in a small way. You never know. Did the watermark come out of your napkins?

I would struggle to recommend any children's books. All of the ones I loved as a child are actually problematic. Dahl's key messages include 'bump off a woman because she's grumpy and old' (George's Marvellous Medicine) and 'Ugly people are nasty' (The Twits) while The Famous Five books' key message seems to be anyone with 'swarthy' skin (aka not white) will be dodgy and up to no good. I really don't think those are messages we should be passing onto kids!
