Inflation in the Switch scores, where shovelware like this can score same as high production master pieces like Ace Combat 7. This trend will hurt consumers in the end, with lesser quality products pushing out and replacing the high budget competition.
The untapped potential for games set in WW1 will never cease to amaze me. Such a brutal, grim, desperate setting should lend itself well to any kind of game...
Man, been a long time since I did a 3h long session on Switch with a new game (probably since Dread). Mark of a instant classic. Plus it looks insane on the OLED, when indoors perfect blacks on the sides.
Excellent review mates. I gotta confess I didn’t wait on the review for this one. Looked outstanding from the start. I love playing indies on the switch, it’s such a great console for that. Cheers from Brazil!
Saw this in Saturday’s new releases and thought it looked interesting. Now after this video I’m adding it to the wishlist, haven’t played a morbid and depressing game for a while!
Hearing you mention this review was coming in a previous video already wet my whistle but now it’s here and you just said the following key words of horror, survival, resident evil, silent hill, world war 1, team 17, signalis… you can stop there well done, deal secured now shut up and take my money I want this physical 😅
Really like the visual style they went with for this... The pixel-y characters have an almost "impressioistic" look, which, as Van Gough knew, is often more "realistic" to how we see the world than a photograph. Defo on the wishlist!
Will definitely be preordering the physical of this. Its been on my to-buy list for months now. For some reason I have August 27th as the release date but i just checked a couple places that say October 1st. Does anyone know if the physical release got pushed back for this? Because whenever i add a game to my preorder list, which is 18 games long for the rest of 2024 btw, i always put the physical release date and i have Aug 27th written down. Well anyways, happy gaming everyone!
F1 manager 2024 has released on Switch, any chance for a quick overview or if anyone knows if you can chose female drivers in create your team mode? IGN reviewed it well be not enough information around yet to ascertain this. Cheers for any help you or the community can provide.
Sounds like the sort of game that may be best played in docked with the lights off, however I think the family might not want to watch, I think I would feel weird playing handheld with headphones in case I scream out loud
I dig the way this looks and like the animations. That being said...if you haven't played the first Last of Us it has all these elements plus so much more. In fact, this game looks heavily inspired by TLOU and that's good thing because it's a masterpiece.
I saw one negative review claiming it isn't scary or fun. so it kinda pushed me away but since then they've been nothing but positive. I might wait for a sale.
I can appreciate a good GBA game, but I think its a sad state of affairs where GBA era graphics can score 17/20. It doesnt make sense. Switch 2 wont see much of an upgrade if this trend continues.
I think you miss understand. The high rating comment is separate from being stuck. As I said totally unclear what to do next when you’ve exhausted the areas. It was even somewhat mentioned in the review. It is a big issue and if I had purchased on Steam I’d be asking for a refund.
The bleakness of this game reminds me of another game called Fear&Hunger. It's also made by RPG maker and quite hard to beat. Alot of unconventional ways to play that game
@@SwitchUpYt it's nearly a minute kf loading between every chapter and every time you die. It's not as bad as Little Nightmares because you're not going to die all that often, but relative to the simplicity of the game, it's horrendous. There are huge open world 3d games that load areas quicker than this. I'd love to hear from a programmer how it can possibly take this long to load 2D assets. (This applies to most games, but I'd also love to know why it takes so long to reload areas whem you die, like it's loading everything in from scratch instead of just resetting the enemies and items).
Wow that looks drab. Visually inconsistent, extremely low res 3d models. Yet it scores the same as Ace Combat 7, which is among the best looking games for the Switch system to date. Give me a break Switchup 😂 Ace Combat 7 is objectively a *far* superior game in every respect. Come on, pull yourselves together.
Really pleased we could get a review of this one out - let me know what you think! Mark
It do be World War I sometimes.
Extra £5 for physical or £5 less for digital. I will have to stealth attack my debit card and see how it responds...
Bought it this morning. Went in blind, really enjoying it.

I was very interested in this as a fan of Darkwood. This looks like a great addition to my small collection of traumatic games
Bro i love Darkwood
Been on my system forever and still haven't played it😩
Try Fear&Hunger!
Which titles are part of your traumatic games list?
@@danielfelipe9233 well, I got Darkest Dungeon 1, Darkwood, Signalis, and War Within. That's it.

Yes. It's so under covered as a historical event. The trenches, tunnels, chemical warfare... Its absolutely terrifying.
probably not a cozy game though.
@@hughlingard Indeed 😁
Looking forward to playing this one, in 1916 my grandfather was fighting his war in Dublin, he was 17 years old, blows my mind😮
The aesthetic and character movement kinda reminds me of Darkwood. If this game is anything like that, we're in for a ride.
Oh man I have PTSD from Darkwood. Mark
I absolutely cannot wait to pick this up!! Love that art style and the premise
It's lovely isn't it! Mark
I have been checking youtube evey hour this morning for this review. Ty.
Ah good stuff mate I hope you enjoyed this one! Mark
Signalis was incredible... This looks just as good.
Usually I'm not into survivor horror games. But this one looks very interesting. I'll add this into my wishlist.
It's good fun for sure. Mark

Was waiting for this review, hooked on the pixel games recently. Going to be a creepy evening with this game! Thank you gents
Oh you'll enjoy yourself for sure. Mark
This is my first time seeing / hearing about this game and I’m very intrigued. Feels a lot like Signalis which I loved.
Yeah it does. Mark
That long initial load time is probably the game loading everything into memory. Its a tradeoff to minimise loading during gameplay.
such a great idea mixing the setting with the survival horror genre

Another solid review guys, I love this art style! Makes me want to dive back into Signalis
this game is made by a Aussie and being Aussie gotta support. Plus I also love pixel horror games and world war games.
Here we go saveloy lads... Been waiting for this review, cheers lads
For some reason this game gives me mundaun and darkwood vibes!! I’m so excited to play this game!
Saw this in Saturday’s new releases and thought it looked interesting. Now after this video I’m adding it to the wishlist, haven’t played a morbid and depressing game for a while!

Another one on the list. Definitely let us know when its on saaale

SWEET! I was hoping this one was going to be good. Thanks Mark.
Physcial edition too! sweet.
I absolutely love the visuals
Same - some comments have said it looks ugly but I think it's great - Mark
definitely adding to my backlog
Review started strong with some of the best puns for months 😁
Looks like a fun little throw back game
Yeah it's decent! Mark
the first world war was horrific. this game seems to take a fair stab (😅) at recreating that same sentiment.
When is it out?
I think it's out now if not then tomorrow - Mark
Wow. This really makes you think. Very powerful. 😢
I went ahead and preordered the physical edition.
Woah first time I saw this game was Alpha Beta Gamer's beta version showcase. I didn't know it's already become a full game!
Ok this looks cool.
After Amnesia: the Bunker it could be second best “scary French soldier in ww1” game!
Awesome review! Looks like a good game!
As a WWI and horror fan I'm thrilled!
Although horror isn’t usually my favourite, this looks very cool!
Looks brilliant and right up my straza 👌
Definitely mate - it's very cool - Mark
@@SwitchUpYt good stuff 👍 I'll order it from the game collection, saw it a available physically
This game looks brilliant!
It's very fun mate. Mark
You had me at "Australian Developer"
Looks interesting, not my usual cup of tea, but I may give this a go if it appears in a sale.
Love it when visuals and setting immediately grab your attention! Hadn't heard of this one yet but could be my first purchase in a long while 🙌🏻
Ah good stuff mate! Mark
The deluxe edition is on sale for 20$ us and I'm thinking I'm gonna give it a go!

This looks sick.
Just watching the review is stressful. Very intense looking game.
Verdun = Ver-doon? What next? the Battle of the Somme (Summy)?
LOL it was a bit of a butchered Essex pronunciation wasn't it haha
You've convinced me.
This looks fantastic, might be one of those games where the score doesn’t reflect the game’s full value.
I think 85% is pretty bang on honestly - I know what you mean though - Mark
@@SwitchUpYt For sure, I actually almost mentioned that 85 was certainly a respectable score. This one just seems to have that x- factor.
Say no more! I’m buying it!
Trench Gear Evil?
This looks amazing, going to buy now!
Can't make up my mind about this one. I like the idea but I'm not feeling the urge to jump into it at this time.
It kind of gives me GBA graphics. Very interesting art style. I ended up buying the AC mega bundle for £32.99 😅

The load times are HORRENDOUS. I really do not understand how such a simple game can have such gigantic load times. The fuck is it doing?
I wouldn’t say horrendous? It’s the initial load that’s bad and then from then on it’s passable
