Hi Alex, I too would say I prefer my synthetic brush. I have a Simpson T2 and it is wonderful. I was actually surprised at how good it is. I also have horse, badger, silver tip badger, and boar brushes. All very nice to me even surprisingly, once again, the horse. But I like my synthetic best.
Great shave Alex! My favourite brush is a custom handle made from a blank that my razor restoration guy made, and the knot is a hand tied Manchurian Badger….. it’s as soft as a pillow, but has enough backbone for face lathering… it’s an incredible brush. Have yourself a great weekend my brother!

Hi Alex. A tip from some old guy (yours truly) if i may: when using a shave stick, after the first pass or subsequent passes when there isn't enough stubble remaining to catch the soap stick, take the brush and lather directly from the soap stick. Hope this helps.

So Badger or synthetic both perform very well it’s personal preference I prefer “quality” silver tip or 2 band fine Badger and in your test the synthetic held more lather because it’s a 28mm knot and the Badger was maybe 20-22? So it can’t hold that much lather also there are a lot of good DE blades out there I personally would recommend Wilkinson “Classic” or Wilkinson sword blades made in Germany and Derby “Premium” blades Gillette “platinum” and Gillette “silver blue” voskhod the Gillette 7 o’clock blades are ok to “super platinum” “and “super stainless” these are readily available on line if you haven’t tried them already. Wow! You made my day Alex, thank you! From the looks of it though, that muhle badger brush looks like it's a pure badger brush. It's a Muhle so I won't say it's crap but pure badger is known to be the lowest quality in the badger world and like you mentioned the tips of the bristles are not very soft and comfortable. What I like most is the two band badger (aka finest badger) brushes. They offer a superb balance of backbone and comfort on the face because the tips of the bristles are super soft even though they posses a very satisfying backbone! My favorite brush is a Semogue Owners Club Two Band Badger (aka finest badger) - cherrywood handle! If you used it I'm sure you'd be in love with it ;) I have nothing against the synthetic but it's not my cup of tea ;) Cheers and have a great day! p.s. Your pronunciation of my name is spot on! Dear Alex, after some consideration I decided to cancel my order of the Muhle Rytmo Pure Badger Brush and instead opted to buy the Omega Hi Brush Barberpole Synthetic Brush. Since you like Synthetic brushes a bit more and seemingly like that brush a lot I decided it was a better buy ;) It's also one of the nicest looking brushes I've seen in your shave den (and in general) ;) Cheers!

Great vid Alex! I prefer synthetic brushes, Yaqi are my favorite, they are cheap but the quality is amazing. I don’t like the shedding hairs with badger brushes. Try Arko shave stick, you will get a better lather. I use Arko also for bowl lathering, just wet the shave bowl and rub the stick in the bowl, it will make heaps of lather.
Arko and Tabac are my favorite shave sticks. Both produce magnificent lather. I guess I like tallow based soaps! Also agree with the quality of Yaqi brushes. I have a two band badger and a silvertip badger from Yaqi and both are amazing value for money!
@@beg033 They have a new Atlantis brush from Yaqi that looks very interesting, in the handle is a seashell, Ken surfs used it, it has a coin logo on the bottom too for just $20. Hard to beat that deal, I may just get it. I have to try Tabac too.

From the looks of it though, that muhle badger brush looks like it's a pure badger brush. It's a Muhle so I won't say it's crap but pure badger is known to be the lowest quality in the badger world and like you mentioned the tips of the bristles are not very soft and comfortable.
