Lovely plane, I have my great grandfather's Spiers infill smoothing plane. However it's brass bodied and not steel. I am also lucky enough to have his steel Mathieson jack plane.
Thank you Chester love the finish on it looks perfect.I still think the best video you have done is the wooden jointer you did thelook of pleasure you had on yor face really was awesome.👍💯%👀
Lovely plane and excellent clean up. I've always aspired to own and use a Scottish pattern infill plane, but the prices in the UK are out of my league.
That’s an interesting query. I’m not sure why they were called that but I refer to them as that because that is how they are referred to in the original catalog. It could be that they were use to make panels as in raised ones but I am really not an authority on that.
Eventually id love to have one. A Spiers or a Norris.
Just terrific!!! Wonderful plane. Thank you for sharing.

Nice cleanup job. That's how I like to deal with my old tools. Just get the dirt off, sharpen them, and repair anything that impacts their use.
Great looking plane & great video as well
What a beautiful set of planes! I own maybe 15 different planes . I am interested in these, I will look into buying some .Thank You for the intro !

They are always enjoyable
Thank you for the comments. I think they are great. If you look at an earlier video of mine you will see my review of the others.

Thank you. They are pricey and hard to find in great shape
Beautiful plane cost a fortune.
Indeed, they can but I waited a long time to get one because of that and finally got this on at a reasonable price.
Also why call it a panel plane? is it because it joints panels.? I am just asking
