- Beating a player like Fabiano Caruana is never easy. While world class GMs like Carlsen, Nakamura, Firouzja etc. are able to do it every once in a while, for someone who is not the best in the world to achieve it is never easy. But in this game Timur Gareyev plays like a man who is possessed. He plays some high level chess and puts Fabi under grave tension and pressure.

Caruana was clueless against this ancient style of play.
It was one of the best games i saw in this event
Gareyev is banned from competing, coaching at, appearing at, or visiting the site of any US Chess National event until June 2024 for violations of Safe Play Guidelines, in this case sexual misconduct. But, clearly, this is OK for FIDE.

Has this ever been proven? Apart from some woman's words, we have literally zero evidence of something like that ever happening. Maybe the us chess federation can ban players on the base of someone else's words but for fide there obviously has to be some evidence involved...

I was a fan of Timur due to his blindfold skills and even as a player but everything shattered after his recent cases . Still good to see him play well , hopefully he will not do such actions in the future

Gratulations to Gareev: he showed now that he isn't underdog as many wrote (and brutally laughed) after game Dubov-Gareev. I am glad for him. And: suggestion for the site --> why don't you show some games from lower tables if these two championship, some outsiders, who perhaps live in cheapest rooms, have no seconds, eat tap water and balooney sandwiches, and have only a couple of chess books with themselves, never change cloths and watch other people eating through restaurant windows...?
